Advantages Advantages Many simply files dealt with speedily

Disadvantages Disadvantages Files with problems always delayed, inexperienced "legal" personnel, useless customer service.

I worked for Enact for 11 months commencing in October 2006. I have not personally used Enact to remortgage or buy/sell a house but I can give you an insight into how they operate. Enact do the legal work behind residential conveyancing, remortgages and also now home information packs. I personally worked on the remortgage department as a Legal Assistant so my insight only truly applies to this department as I cannot speculate on how residential conveyancing and HIPs departments processes work. At Enact you can become a case handler/team player/legal assistant with no previous professional ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very slow service, too many excuses, inability to return phonecalls

Enact Direct Legal Services are the largest direct conveyancer in their market, are based in Leeds and employ in excess of 300 members of staff. Enact aim to “provide fast, efficient and innovative direct legal solutions to the housing market of the 21st century” (source: www.enact-online.co.uk). I recently split up with my partner so had to re-mortgage my house to buy my share from him. The mortgage I took out through Natwest (a 2 year fixed rate) included the survey and legal charges meaning that Natwest themselves selected a surveyor and conveyancing solicitor for me. I received a letter ... more

Decided to remortgage our house with our bank, First Direct. As the process started we realised that FD outsourced the legal side. From our end everything was completed swiftly, FD were great - then came the Enact involvement. This was November. For a simple remortgage. And over the last three weeks NOTHING has happened. I've phoned, emailed and text Enact to try to find out when we'd have a completion date. Turns out that they were awaiting a repy to an email from FD. FD had no trace of the email. Enact said the had copied me in. I have no trace of that email either. Due to the delays, we ... more

Enact. A name that still stirs a chill in my heart each and every time that I hear it. As an admin manager for a firm of mortgage brokers, I get to deal with more than my fair share of free re-mortgage conveyancers, but these guys are definitely amongst the worst of a bad bunch. In all of my dealings with them I have found them to be obstructive, ridiculously inept and worryingly ill informed about actual legal matters. As an example I had a client who re-mortgaged through enact and spent 5 weks waiting while they told him that they were waiting for his deeds to be forwarded to them by his ... more

1 Star Quick review of Enact Direct Legal Solutions by ANONEEMOOSE 26/10/2007
I am currently using Enact (or should that be 'Inept'...) and without question they are the single worse company I have had the misfortune to deal with. We are currently selling and purchasing through them, and naively took them on as a recommendation by 'Your Move' estate agents (Who could also be the subject of this complaint). Firstly they are terrible with customer services, this includes, no call-backs when promised, delayed postal mail outs, a rude phone manner, inability to tell the truth and time delaying tactics. Secondly, I get the impression that they use very inexperienced employees (drop outs from ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Enact Direct Legal Solutions by duhig 29/11/2008
I came across all this rubbish printed about enact and must comment as the lenders I have remortgaged to have used them a lot. They are always polite and efficient and get the job done. I know a lot of people do not like volume conveyancers just like shopkeepers did not like the tescos of this world usually for vested interest. The world has moved on.

Advantages Advantages None I have come accross

Disadvantages Disadvantages Totally unprofessional and incompetent

Enact were employed by Santander to do the legal work involved regarding a new mortgage I WAS taking out, to begin with I received phone calls from someone so poor at English that I could not understand 50% of what they were saying asking for personal information, in the end I hung up thinking it was a scam! That is how I ended up here after doing a web search to see if they were really a legit company. I have since found them to be totally incompetent to the point where I am now taking out my mortgage elsewhere as I am no longer prepared to deal with them. It amazes me that a bank is ... more

I had the misfortune of having them to sort out my conveyancing cause my bank (Natwest) use them for a mortgage/transfer of equity for a leasehold flat... I would never choose them myself!! I wonder what they do all day, but i had to chase them and keep them in line all the time... cause they send a letter to the freeholder ... and wait... wait.. wait... if for some reason they don't get an answer you are screwed! The case would sit there forever!! they forget about your case if you do not call to check. Last time it was "we are waiting for your landlord to send approval... this was sent 10 ... more

Advantages Advantages Low cost fees, No completion - no fee, Online tracking.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I can think off. Suprised by the negative reviews.

I was shocked to find negative reviews on here. A friend of mine sent me a link to this forum after I recommended enact conveyancing to him. I just wanted to say that the service I received was good and all staff that I dealt with were equally good. Maybe things have changed since the negative bloggers left their reviews. I guess you are bound to get people who aren't happy and its these people who are more likely to leave feedback on here. Loved the online case tracking as I like to keep my eye on what's going on! I would recommend enact to anyone I know that needs legal services. Thank you ... more

    Advantages Advantages Friendly staff.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Unhelpful, confusing and time consuming.

I am dealing with Enact right now. It's painful. I am being given circular, conflicting information. The call centre staff keep putting me on hold whilst they talk to someone in the legal team, but won't let me talk to them directly. Judging by the answers I am getting I don't trust that the call centre staff are conveying the information I am giving them, or the questions I am asking them, and they keep implying it's just how it is. They are demanding things that will cost me money but can't give me a good justification why. I am bewildered, confused and angry. This is all around a seperation ... more
