...an interesting take on an English course as the University doesn't do a straight English Lit degree. Hence in your first year you'll do a mix of Lit, Lang, Anglo Saxon, basically a very varied look at the subject from all angles. The second and third years offer a lot of freedom of choice, and because of the broadness of the first year (which doesn't count towards your degree), you'll be in a good position to know what you like. Advantages: Scope for learning more than just literature; Good tutors Disadvantages: Not quite sure what it wants to be; Old English is pointless
...on the joys of Old English grammar. There are no positives about this module, and thankfully I withdrew before I had to do this coursework.
-Drama. Before you worry, you are not being assessed by any acting talent you may have, but rather you're interpretation of the set plays (English 1500s onward in first year). You do have to act though, but it IS NOT assessed.
On top of that, there are extra credits which need to be filled; you can do this ... ...sciences or languages (I did Arabic and Cognitive Psychology).
-Quality of teaching. Overall, this was very good and I felt that if I had any problems with the work I could speak to my tutors about it. Whenever I emailed them with a small problem it was swiftly resolved. -Quality of lectures. I found these to be a bit hit and miss. Some were really informative, and others tended to ramble and go off the topic.
