Epiphone Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar

...is about average for an Epiphone Les Paul. I love the appearance of the Les Paul series – the shape to me screams classic rock and the finishes available are some of the best in my opinion. Mine is in Flame Burst which is slightly different to most of the standard models and has to be my favorite finish for any guitar. I have always loved the way my guitar has played. It positively leapt out of the guitar stand alongside everything else ,even with a broken pickup selector (which i negoiated a discount for ;) ). When i first bought this guitar i expected nothing short of Slash, Clapton, Perry and Bolan. I was not dissapointed. The tone just blew me away especially the neck pickup when played through a Marshall stack, it literally played the intro to Sweet child on its own and sounded just like the record. This here is cosmetically identical to a Gibson Les Paul Standard, except for the headstock. Bought one for RM2 100 from Woh Fatt in Kuala Lumpur way back in 1990. It came with a sunburst finish, hard case, the usual twin humbuckers, toggle switch, 2 volume and 2 tone controls. Sound-wise; very much a Les Paul. However, in terms of clarity; nowhere near the clear, bell-like tones you get on a Strat or Strat clone. Good for thick distorted solos and ...
...too flexible for my tastes, but it gets the job done. Holds up well even with heavier strings such as Ernie Ball Power Slinkys (.011 - .049). All said and done, you might be better off getting a Strat clone that has humbuckers plus single coil(s); if a wider variety of tones is what you need. ...
