Advantages: Extremely versatile and gorgeous too! Disadvantages: People with tiny hands need not apply.
I've owned an Epiphone Dot for over a year now, so I know it intimately. Well, as intimately as a man can get with a guitar anyway! I guess I'll start with the basics for anyone who's just starting out.
The Dot is a semi hollow electric guitar, This means thats it has a solid block of wood running lengthways through the body, but has hollow chambers on either side. This means it is more audible than a standard solid electric guitar unplugged, but ... ...often a problem with all Epiphone guitars). When I first bought the guitar, the selector WAS a little crackly, but after a couple of weeks it was fine - I just put it down to some dirt. Just to make a correctiont to the other review here - dont expect a "standard Gibson shape" headstock. Its an Epi headstock, and its massive(!)
HOW DOES IT FEEL?
Well, contrary to the other review here, if youre expecting a light guitar with it being a semi, then ...

Advantages: Beautiful finish, great resonant sound, a definate aquisition for guitar lovers. Disadvantages: Not for everyone, large size not everyones cup of tea, Its not really a lead guitar.

The dark red is very sexy, and the wood stain gives it a real sense of worth, the guitar looks like a guitar, its not ... ...me feel like its an honest guitar, whatever that means I have no idea, but there is something very genuine about it. It has a black scratch guard across the lower end of the strings, raised slightly from the wood surface, I think this is the rock and roll part of the guitar. For me it really just made it look more modern and expensive. The rosewood neck, is of beautiful texture which matches the wood stained body. The headstock is the standard Gibson ...

Advantages: Looks good.Plays well. The sound is exactly what you'd expect from a Dot. Disadvantages: Sometimes loses tune faster than my other guitars
Okay i've had this guitar for around 7 months now.I've never had a problem with it. In my opinion it feels amazing to play.I use a fender hot rod deluxe and they really go together well. i can get anywhere from jazzy cleans to brit rock drive and it feels natural in both. It's also good to play unplugged around the house.Pickup height makes a big difference in sound on this guitar,The action's easy to adjust and plays well very very low. Sometimes ...
