The Perfect Scan!

Advantages: Good quality, Low price, V.Easy install
Disadvantages: Occasional freezing of software if scanner program left inactive

...was familiar with, so selected Epson and a price bracket up to the GBP100, in order to compare their products, and was given a list of two. 1. EPSON Perfection 1670 2. EPSON Perfection 1670 Photo The only difference between the two was GBP10.00 in price, and the Photo option had the capability to scan film negatives. I had a brief look at other brands of Scanner, such as Kodak, Minolta, Mustek and Canon, but the products that looked favourable ...
...I decided to choose the EPSON Perfection 1670 Photo. *Product Description* The EPSON Perfection is a very modern, classy looking scanner. Advantages: Fast, Compact, Excellent Quality scans, Scans Negs and Slides

My late and lamented HP6200C was 300dpi and was outstanding. More dpi ...

Nearly perfection, as advertised.

Advantages: Crisp, clear, high resolution - what more do you need?
Disadvantages: Colour balance slightly off

After setting up, which is a simple affair, this scanner presents a simple interface that belies great power. With one press of a button, the scanner brings up its software onscreen, allowing you to choose from a number of simple options, from scanning and saving images to the (occasionally useful and very powerful) Optical Character Recognition package. It will even identify the type of document in the flatbed and adjust its resolution etc. accordingly. ...
...over what the scanner does. However, coupling this scanner with, say, Adobe Photoshop unleashes its true power. It fits nicely into the package - using a standard WIA interface - and here, the sheer resolution available amazes. Although I have crashed my computer a few times trying to scan in larger pictures than it could cope with (the resolution goes up to a tempting 3200 DPI), the whole process is very smooth, and leaves impressive detail marred ...
