The salesman advised me to set it up on the desktop initially as it would be hard wired via USB. If you hear this don't let it put you off. The set-up works fine even if you have a single laptop but you must ensure the printer is connected to it via USB when the initial printer setup is carried out.
Anyhow, I set the ... ...documents are very quick and clear. Photographs when printed on photo paper are incredible ! Just as good as anything from a shop.
I only had one problem which was not a fault with the printer but I will mention it. I initially couldn't get wireless printing to work. It turned out it was my firewall blocking the request being sent to the printer. I had to manually change my BitDefender settings to allow it to work and its been ok since. As I say, ...

Advantages: Quick and easy set up; great print quality Disadvantages: None as yet.
The old printer was an Epson DX6000 and had served us well, but had networking became an issue when the number of PCs in the household grew exponentially. Vista seemed to create more problems, and it just didn't like one laptop in particular, returning a paper jam message whenever the laptop was attached via USB. The inkjets became clogged, and no amount of squirting ink through would clear them completely. If only the jets could be removed for cleaning, ... ...in at £65, while the Epson offering, the SX405W was more pricey at £79.99. The separate ink tanks of the Epson are a definite advantage in keeping the running down, so the decision was made. I find that PC World seem to be pretty good with printers, rather than my usual supplier of IT related things, Ebuyer. In to the store to wait for an assistant to help. Advantages: Wireless function is easy, print from anywhere. Disadvantages: While the black finish is nice, it really is a dust magnet.
After having Epson printers before, I decided to go for another one. But this time, one with wireless capabilities. In box with the printer is the power cable, USB cable (you need these for the initial set up), a set of cartridges and a small pack of photo paper. Was really easy to set up. We use 3 laptops at home and for the first set up I needed the USB cable. Follow the prompts on the discs and it automatically detects your wireless network. For ... ...quick. You can print direct from a memory card without the use of a computer. I have decided to only use original Epson cartridges this. Make sure you shop around, as some good prices are to be had.
