The Epson C62 INKJET printer is by far the best printer I have ever had. However, I only mainly use my printer for printing out documents and spreadsheets etc, and I don’t know whether it is the best printer out there for printing out photographs.
I have previously had a Xerox printer, and found out that it consumed ink very quickly, its print quality was very poor, and the most annoying thing: It made a hell of a lot of noise! Whenever I turned ... ...I have found the Epson C62 printer to be quite the opposite of this.
When I purchased my laptop from Time (Computer World), I got a special offer where I could buy the Epson C62 printer at half price for £40 (The RRP therefore being £80).

Now, I’m a bloke who favours HP printers when it comes down to it, I prefer them for their print quality, put an Epson print next to a HP print on normal mode on roughly the same priced printers and I bet the HP will win hands down every time in terms of print and colour quality. Also the HP’s sharpness cannot be matched by the Epson. However, when it comes to buying those all elusive ink cartridges you will soon ... ...that I recently purchased 11 Epson C62’s for general printing (prescriptions and patient leaflets) for a local surgery. They already had a few HP’s and were getting increasingly worried about their ink cartridge bills! For printing off prescriptions and patient leaflets on standard photocopy paper, the C62 fitted the bill perfectly, and it will for most of your home printing needs too. What is it that youy want out of an inkjet printer? - something that prints good quality prints fairly quickly and doing this quietly. After buying this model for around £60, this is what i expected, even if it was not absolutely perfect, being relatively cheap.
It is a basic inkjet printer that connects to your computer via. a USB connection. There are 2 ink cartridge slots, one for colour and one for black and white. This is very simple but it ... ...600 pages and the colour should last for 300 pages. This is promising but its simplicity in design and features are real indicators of what i believe is a poor machine.
The first problem which i have found is that the print speed is extremely slow. Fow black & white the speed is meant to be 14 ppm (pages per minute) and for colour it is supposed to be 13.9 ppm. This is probarbly true if it printed continually but it always seems to stall mid way ...

...So when I saw the Epson Stylus C62 the first thing that caught my eye was the very low price. Under £70 and a free delivery, nice appearance and then I was blown away by its many features.
Far too many that you would have normaly expected from a cheap printer.
Epson Stylus C62 is an inkjet colour printer with a 5760 optimised dpi print resolution. It is great for printing letters, invitations, greeting cards, leaflets and newsletters to more sophisticated ... ...if you have Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP and recent Apple Macs and it includes support for the Universal Serial Flexible Output And it is fast! ...last 10 years, and the Epson Stylus C62 is my 4th. I decided I wanted a photo quality printer, but was on a budget and was looking to pay under £70. I wanted something that would give me decent quality photographs, but that could handle all my other printing requirements (general documents, letters etc).
Although about 18 months old now, at the time of purchase it was considered a compact model and is certainly good if you are limited on space. ... ...Use anything but the expensive Epson black and colour cartridges and you are in for nothing but poor prints and clogged print heads. Even with Epson cartridges I have had problems. If you are using anything but standard printer paper, again, the printer often gets confused and thinks there is either a paper jam or that there is no paper in there - using even very thin cardboard or photo paper causes these problems, things that a modern printer should ...

...friends had started to get Epson printers and i felt a little left out. i searched a few shops to see what the prices were and i found that the average could be between 59.99 to 79.99 depending on what store you went to, some had special offers on at the time.
The paper is fed through the back of the printer on a tray at the front.
When you first load the disk, it leads you through everything that you wanted to know and you cant really go wrong ... ...to make me stay with Epson ws the fact the cartridges were fairly cheap to replace even at Epson prices where as my old hp was nearly £60 a time. I can quite easily get cheap cartridges for £10 a set for this printer.
Now my printer sits on top of my computer on a shelf and it is quite noisy and sometimes it makes my computer shake. However i have also had it at the side of my computer where its perfectly fine.

My Epson C62 printer started to give me trouble about six months after purchasing it so I contacted Epson, after a few tests with their technical team and after wasting a vast amount of ink from their genuine ink tanks I was advised to take it to a local Epson dealer. "Print heads" said the dealer as though I had been printing on sandpaper....! He duly give me a replacement and literally threw the C62 straight into the nearest bin, I repeat " threw ... ...effects. I had to contact Epson several times before getting a response. I expect to get at least 12 months of trouble free service from a brand new purchase (excluding print head cleaning), certainly not the case here.
The printer is nothing but a "noisy ink guzzler", it consumes ink at an alarming rate - even if it is not being cleaned, and regularly goes through a cleaning routine when powered up, and requires regular head cleaning - certainly ...

Although the Epson Stylus C62 appears to be a convenient and acceptable printer for household and/or small business use, the first impression is not everything to be seen. This inkjet printer has many appealing specs, which are simple to understand making the printer seem user-friendlier. With 5760 optimised dpi, it seems that detail is very high whilst printing. This is a high dpi, but there are higher for more targeted prints. Although that it ... ...in black & white and 13.9 ppm in colour in low quality, it is lucky to print 10 ppm in black & white and only 8 ppm in colour on low quality. This is a major difference when it comes to multiple printing of various qualities, compared to the little difference of 0.1 pages between colour and black & white as stated. This product is definetely a good option among ink jet printers, Printing quality is good for pictures and documents. The ink cartridges for the printer are quite cheap and last quite a long time depending how often you print. Another good thing is that when you install the printer and the software provided, there are maintenance options provided with software which enable you to do such tasks as do a nozzle check (use this if gaps or faint lines ... ...your print quailty declines) and print head alignment (use this if misaligned vertical lines appear in your print out) i have never had to use any of these maintenance tasks !!
The only problem i have ever come across is a paper jam but there is a button on the printer which solves this problem easily !!
The only disadvantage of the printer is that it can be quite noisy.
I would definitley recommend this printer to anyone but maybe not to those ...

...This also means that Epson can charge a lot more for the cartridges. It also makes it difficult for cartridges to be refilled as special equipment is required to reset the chips.
This printer has an improvement which was an annoyance on the earlier C42. When the C42 cartridges decided they were empty the printer refused to print. The C62 shows the cartridges as being empty but will allow you to carry on printing until the cartridges are really empty.
... ...a cartridge with a non Epson original. I've had one third party cartridge that emptied after 2 weeks and printing less than 10 pages. The printer seems to simply drain the ink into the printer. Strangely when I inserted an Epson original cartridge, the printer worked perfectly.
I've had several Epson printers and they have all disliked third party cartridges which makes these printers very expensive to run. To summarise, this is a good printer but ...

...onto photo paper provided by Epson or almost any other printing brand.
Also, if anything should go wrong, the nozzles may need cleaning, which is all accessable on a quick and easy maintanance guide which brings the printer back to its usual standard.
Some of you may be thinking this printer is too good to be true, well, everything has its SLIGHT downfalls, i use slight because there are small annoyances which are as follows:
Need to regularly ... ...you having to use maintanace. When i say this i mean, its not as if it blows up as such, it just takes a few minutes to clean the heads.
Sometimes it can be hard to cancel a job, i think this may be due to the fact of me working my compouter too hard thou :p .
Please note these downfalls arn't big at all, just tiuny nuisances you may come accross. If i were you looking for a printer right now, i'd buy this for sure!

...return it to a local Epson agent, because on plain black text, it left squiggly blue broken lines, and sometimes a broken red line.... "the print head" said the dealer, to much of my amazement he threw it in a nearby rubbish bin, and handed me a replacement ( minus ink cartridges). What I did not realise is that he did not hand the receipt back, I thought he had put in the box.
Guess what, the heads have started to require continous cleaning and ... ...are not thermal jets.
Epson seems to be of no help, inspite of having the old and new replacement regestration documents. I am in the process of doing what the dealer did.
I personally would never buy Epson products again, looking at thier C900 laser printer the toners are not exactly cheap eithert.
My advice is don't buy a printer with peizo heads, and don't buy them with a chipped cartridge. For the price Epson charges for cartridges they oughta ...

...was at college they had Epson printers in the graphics labs of the same design. I bought the printer for a little over £60 in a computer shop in my town.
I use it for printing out University documents and family photos. Some of the photo print outs onto glossy paper have been of excellent quality and we've been able to frame them.
On photos the print speed is not so bad even if I choose the highest quality print setting. And if I use Save For Web ... ...as Cartex. As long as you clean the nossles and do other tests when you put the new cartridges in, they work just the same as the Epson branded cartridges.
All in all for the money I think you get a good quality printer that is worth buying. ...

Just because the price is low doesn't mean the quality and speed is low, well espicially not with this printer anyway. I took four family photos on Christmas Day and printed them out with the samples of photo paper supplied with the printer. The print quality was AMAZING! I had never seen such a clear and detailed ... ...that a pair of original Epson cartridges on the high street should set you back £50. The only way to run one of these printers (unless you are really flush) is on compatible cartridges. I understand that the higher the dpi, the higher the ink usage but beware of the potential costs. I WOULD RATE THIS PRINTER TO ANY FAMILY WHO HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA AND NEED A HIGH QUALITY PRINTER. ...
