I bought my epson a few months after buying my first pc, thinking that it would be a good place to start. It isn’t to expensive, and as printer go, I think it is a good first-time buy. However, after running it for a year and a half, it seems a bit like a false economy to me. ...so I had to contact Epson to ask them and they quite happily sent me the printer drivers disk free of charge and a complimentary software disk with printer programs so I loaded up the printer and finally got it working. I was so happy I could not wait to use it so I just printed a test page and it seemed o.k. The Epson ranges of printers are very good value for money. They may not be the nicest looking or the fastest printing, but the quality for the price range is excellent. If you use good quality paper, and are prepared to wait the few extra minutes the photo realistic quality of the print out never fails to make me happy. ...exhaustion. I replaced it with an Epson Stylus Color 440. The driver was terrible (out of date - had to get a new one off the Net) the printer was very noisy and it lasted the obligatory 12.5 months (how DO they get them to do that...?) I was not used heavily and probably handled less than a thousand sheets. It died. Big time. I have gone back to Hewlett Packard - I never should have left. I am on my second epson 440, due to getting a new computer and I must say I wouldnt have wanted any other, the printer is fairly cheap to buy but the quality is excellent. I find it especially good for photographs, they look brilliant and dont really take that long to print. I'm unimpressed with this printer, purely because the one I had died within 18 months(and not much printing)... The printer itself is quite nice looking, and I was really relieved when I realised that it holds both colour and black cartridges, so there's no nasty cartridge-swapping to be done, which is nice. ...I would definitely recommend the Epson Stylus 440. This printer is easy to install and use, provides a good quality printout and gives a clear indication of how much ink is in each cartridge. The black and colour cartridges are both installed in the printer so you don’t have to worry about changing them over when you want to print something in black or colour, they can also be changed separately to save on ink. We were given the Epson stylus 440 in a package deal with our new computer we bought from time. And let me tell you the time it takes to print good big detailed pictures is quite slow but when they come out the quality is absolutly amazing. I dont mind waiting for it to print as long as it is of a good quality when it comes out. Ive printed quite alot things out using the Epson stylus 440 and there has never been a difference in quality. So hats off ... Read review

The Epson stylus 440 color printer is a robust, good quality printer. Having used one now for some two years I have a lot of faith in it. The quality of the print is good, and it is very easy to use. The ink cartridges are not over the top and can be bought in bulk, making them reasonably priced. It's self cleaning facilities are a premium.
