Advantages: Good for making your wallet lighter Disadvantages: Displays NO INK when the inks are really full WHAT A RIP OFF
...printer to replace my aging epson R300 when it finally died......What a mistake. Looked great when i first bought it the scan function was handy and the print quality was top notch. The when the ink was at about half way (3 photo prints) it decided not to recognize the cartridges. No big problem i though they were probably just test cartridges so i bought some more. i only printed about 10 pages in black and white and 1 photo for the next 2 weeks ... ...colors. They were new in EPSON branded. so i cracked them open with a knife to find they were all near full and went and bought some more. 2 weeks later and 4 10x15 photos SAME AGAIN all inks empty. So i phoned epson support who basically told me i would need to just buy more ink and only to use the expensive epson branded cartridge My thoughts EPSON are having a laugh and have the printer programed to display all ink empty after a set time limit ...

Advantages: Scanner, LCD Monitor, initial cost Disadvantages: Ink consumption too high: Will cost a fortune to run even on 3rd party inks
...my previous printers have been Epson and I've been very pleased with all. Unsurprisingly then, when it came to renewing my printer again I chose this Epson for £60...I wish I hadn't! On the face of it this printer seems very well specified and even has a built-in LCD monitor. On the whole the print quality is reasonable for a printer in this price range. However, this is where the good points end. Despite having four seperate colour cartridges, ink ...

Quick review of Epson Stylus DX8450
Very impressed with this sleek all-in-one printer, copier, scanner, which I bought for £59.99 from PC World (in a sale at the time). Easy to install, high quality results, reasonably quick at printing photos and documents. It has a 6.3cm LCD display and it is easy to print directly from memory card (most types supported) or direct from digital camera via separate USB port. It uses four ink cartridges - black, cyan, yellow and magenta - which are at most £6.99 each. Since they can be replaced individually this brings the cost of replacing colour ink down. But when one colour runs out you need to replace it to be able to print anything - including black and white only.
Overall I think it is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend it. ...

Quick review of Epson Stylus DX8450
over a 4 month period I had 3 of these copiers before I requested a refund. Each printer lasted about 5 weeks before breaking down. Epsom were very unhelpful and wanted £10 to collect a broken machine before replacing. They offered a visit to a repair centre which was only open when I was working. I eventually found time to go to their repair centre and it took about 30 seconds to agree the machine was broken and needed replacing. ...

Drains ink very quickly and once a single cartridge (out of 4) is empty it refuses to operate. You can not print in black/white only. You can not scan. That's right, you can not use the scanner function until you replace all ink cartridges. Avoid EPSON at all cost. ...

Consumes LOTS of expensive ink. The fact that you have to replace a coloured ink even if you want to print only black is the main reason I WILL NEVER BUT EPSON AGAIN. Let this be a lesson to you EPSON. Greed doesn't make a happy (or returning) customer. ...
