Advantages: Great Quality Disadvantages: No LCD Screen, No Fax
Epson Stylus DX4000
Well were can I start with this printer. Its an all round great product, it has many different functions and features which will help any user along the way to making you pictures or images better and processing your paperwork quicker. Whilst using this printer I found that it was very easy to use from the very simple buttons that are on the top of the printer towards the left. All of the buttons are very easy to use and you ... ...I need. I feel that Epson could improve on this model by maybe having an LCD screen at the front showing information about what you are doing and maybe allowing you to change the dpi of what you want to scan etc. also maybe to make it even better they could install a media card reader into the printer and allow you to print pictures straight from the memory cars or from the camera. The printer ha a high resolution and great quality printing which ...

Advantages: Competent scanning and printing for a bargain price Disadvantages: Not the best photo quality you could hope to achieve
...and printer came with genuine Epson ink cartridges, I thought I might as well buy it rather than bother trying to fix and re-ink the CX38000. Set up was easy and simply a case of connecting the power plug to the back of the printer and plugging it in. I used the USB lead off my old printer to connect the new printer to my computer (printers rarely come with a USB lead - that's a whole other story) then I switched it on. There was a disc included ... ...cartridges. As with most Epson printers, you can access the "print properties" from you PC and select "clean nozzles" to get this issue speedily resolved but it's annoying nonetheless. Minor criticisms of the print capabilities are that I get a bit annoyed waiting so long when I'm printing a lot of photos and the photo quality isn't in the same league as if you'd bought Kodak printed snaps from the chemist. For most people I don't suppose they'd ...

Advantages: Good quality for a cheaper printer, fairly compact, combined printer & scan, quick Disadvantages: none, except got to buy the cable to hook it up to your PC seperately.
...search results was for this EPSON STYLUS DX4000 Multi-Function jobbie for £49.94 - It cost a few pence less than my old Xerox, yet as well as a printer had a built-in scanner + photocopying facility.
Come Sunday night, I decided, ah what the hell, I'll buy it........ and thus my bank account was relieved of £58.63 (Cost of the printer + express delivery to get it by Tuesday). Well, Tuesday arrived, and 11:30am it was here......... getting it out ... ...it out via the protective polystyrene blocks on each side, while holding onto the box with my feet, then swinging the printer over onto the diningtable in the livingroom before it fell out of the polystyrene blocks (and believe me, it felt like it could happen any second).
Once you've got it out of the polystyrene blocks, all that is left to do is peel off the protective plastic from various places, and remove the blue sticky-tape holding it's flaps ...

Advantages: All in one machine, Very economical ink system, quick printing, photocopier Disadvantages: It's quite big, USB cable not provided
As a student, printing is a necessity for assignments and research. Going into University just to print off work or photocopy a page out of a book was becoming a chore of unnecessary proportions that pushed me to go out and get a printer for myself. With tasks such as photocopying, scanning and most notably printing, it was pretty certain I would be needing an 'all-in-one' solution to meet the crushing demands of a university education. From looking ... ...most for me, mainly due to the ink system that it adopts. Instead of purchasing one printer cartridge for colour and one for black, you buy each one separately, meaning you need Black, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta for the printer to be full of ink. The advantage of this is if you need to replace a cartridge, instead of replacing the lot of them, you can just replace the colour in question. The software that comes with the printer informs you of the ink ...

Advantages: 3 in one, quick, fairly quiet and reliable Disadvantages: The paper tray could do with being longer if you print many pages at once.
...owner of a number of Epson printers over the years, and suffience to say, I've never been impressed. I used a basic HP printer for 3 years and had no trouble with it but it was fairly limited in what it had to offer.
I was browsing through the offers in Currys one fine afternoon and saw the Epson Stylus DX 4000 on the shelf, at a very reasonable price of less than £60 (I can't remember the exact price now).
Anyway, it is a multi purpose printer, ... ...slightly hesitant at purchasing another Epson product.
I decided to give it a go and well, I've never looked back. In a year and a half, I've never had any problems with the printer, and it prints very accurately every time.
What's even better is the fact that you can replace single segments of the ink (so if you need a Cyon, but needn't spend money on a block of 3 colours). This means that your money goes further!
The scanner is ideal for general ...

Advantages: Outstanding picture quality, good software and a scanner. Disadvantages: Start up head cleaning cycle uses a lot of ink. Tied to using Epson cartridges
I bought mine in Tesco.
Beware - soaks up ink like a sponge and will not accept 'compatible' cartridges. Will not operate if - one - colour is empty.
Excellent pictures, good software, quiet operation.
Suffers from a big basic fault. The machine has to be switched on to use the scanner (obviously), when you switch on the machine automatically goes through a lengthy head cleaning cycle - this cycle uses ink - a lot of ink - more than printing 4 ... ...avoid wasting ink. I will only be using mine for printing colour pictures and my trusty HP laser printer for black & white documents.
I have reconnected my Canon Lide 20 scanner - far less trouble.
Added on 31.10.07 After several months of use I have to admit that when using A4 heavy weight glossy paper the digital photo results are outstandingly good. I have only used mine for pictures and the black ink cartridge has been the first to be exhausted. ...

...this product when my previous Epson printer finally died. I thought I would have no worries after all it was an Epson! Was I wrong or was I wrong.
The quality of the printing is fairly good if you are just printing a black word document but the minute you want to print anything with colour or attempt a photograph forget it.
If you haven't used the printer for a few days and go to use it be prepared to have to clean the heads at least half a dozen ...

Advantages: seperate ink cartridges for each color Disadvantages: no usb cable
I had a bit of trouble installing the printer - I put the accompanying cd in my PC but I could not get the software installed, I have no idea why not and I have no idea why it eventually worked. The error messages I got were quite meaningless and it was all very frustrating. I wish these things still came with manuals you could look at over a cup of tea instead of having to stare at the PC for hours on end.
Since then I have had a month of plain ... ...really having to think about what I am doing and that is all I want.
The one thing that made me decide to chose this product is that there are seperate ink cartridges for each colour. They look quite small but it annoys me having to throw away cartridges that probably still contain a lot of ink when one colour has run out. ...

Advantages: Looks ok Disadvantages: Never worked despite Epson letting me trade it for a replacement
2 months after purchase my Epson DX4000 still won't print. I have lost 2 days of work, £25 of fares/courier costs & am still stuck with a faulty product. Add that onto the cost of the item you are considering buying.
Customer service are more interested in trying to sell me more of their products than get me a printer that isn't faulty (unless I pay them extra). Here's my story:
My DX4000 was bought for me as a present, thus it was just past 30days ... ...the enclosed instructions with the Epson Ink cartridges included. It has never recognised a cartridge including my friends identical Epson ones. The scanner never stops 'warming up'. Epson's online technicians gave me generic advise 'am I using genuine cartridges' & eventually encouraged me to take it to my local Epson Express Centre at my own cost.
Epson's website advertises '30mins repair/replacement time'. It took 4 days. I was told the printer ...
