Having seen some negative reviews about this printer on amazon, yet still being desperate for a printer that prints on CD's as well as has CISS system available for it (CISS systems reduce printing costs by attatching an ink system onto the printer). I still bought it because it was the only one...

As christmas presents go, here is one that I was definitely very pleased with, up until now I have only had a basic printer which I got a good 4-5 years ago, and obviously needed an upgrade! I have always been fond of Epson products, even though my old printer was old as I stated, I had never had...

“Epson Photo R285 printer”

published 19/10/2008

excellent all round while working

Subject to ink problems but Ok with insurance

The Epson Sylus Photo R285 is an excellent printer while it is working. In 12 months I have had two of these printers and both have have had the same fault, that being the sudden inability to recognise full ink cartridges and mule like refusing to budge in any direction. This problem occurs about...

I am on my third R285 photo printer all have the same faults, the worse fault being the photo paper jambs at the start and finish of the printing process it also refuses to accept genuine epson cartridges when it is time to change one, and it gets frustrating as you manage it to accept one cartridge another one is refused saying they are empty when they are actually full. It prints text on plain paper fast and faultlessly but this is no good when it ruins your photo,s by jamming and smearing black ink. I am now ready to get my fourth on warranty but I do not really want another the older versions R200 and R220,s where better.

Bought this printer after my first Epson C62 which i used three years. The new Epson R285 printer has some more advanced features which i was looking for esp: CD & DVD printing and high quality photo printing with 6 ink cartridges. Got it for £48 from Valueshop. Not yet time to give a full review of the product. Will publish as soon as possible..

“Epson R285”

published 28/09/2008

Print quality, low price, individual inks

Slightly bulky design

I purchased this printer for the kids to do homework, but have used it more for myself. The print quality is exceptional. i.e better than a lot of those photo booths you find in Boots etc. You can print to the very edge of all paper sizes upto A4. For this level of print quality at under £100 is...

Not for me

Fine as long as you want to take out a bank loan to pay for Epson Cartridges, trying to find compatible cartridges that are actually compatible and recognised by the printer is a nightmare. Would not recommend it unless you are prepared for either an expensive life or incessant trouble.

I bought this when my Epson 950 stylus died. I was unsure if I would be disappointed and needed some convincing that a unit so much cheaper could deliver - but it does! Up to A4 images are crisp and vobrant with excellent definition - and I'm a Leica photographer. This represents seriously good value for money.

Fast Printing Speed

Extra Features

This printer from Epson is specifically for printing photos with its six colour ink and fast printing black, this R285 is the replacement of the R265. The look of the paper hold is conventional, with folding support at the rear and a pull out, telescopic output tray at the front. The CD/DVD tray...

Feel very disappointed haven't had the chance to try printer out yet.Drove 40 miles to buy printer and took it home set it up and printed 2 a4 size documents in black ink then tried to print another one,to be told that black ,and three colours were empty.Come on put the price up and put full cartridges in with printer so as not to disappoint people had to travel 40 miles back and spend£35 for more ink just to get started. This put me off this product before even getting a chance to use it
