    Advantages Advantages Excellent photo quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No USB cable

I bought my new Epson Stylus Photo R800 in December last year, shortly before Christmas. Kind of present for myself! It was replacement for my old photo printer, as the name suggests - another Epson - Stylus Photo 890. It was a great printer, reliable, durable, making great quality prints until the day… My promise to myself was to get another Epson printer as I knew the maker and loved quality of its printers and other "photo products". I own photo quality scanner by Epson - another great piece of equipment. I ordered my new printer over the internet, as it was December had to wait 2 weeks for ... more

Advantages Advantages superb picture quality, borderless prints, speed, quietness, versatility, ease of use yet plenty of gadgets

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesnt have a built-in card reader

I’d like to share this Epson printer with you. It is well worth the investment if you want high quality prints with superb colour. • The printer is able to provide ‘borderless’ prints although in reality the A4 and over prints actually have a 2 mm border approx which isn’t bad at all. It gives true borderless prints on papers 4" x 6", 5" x 7", and 8" x 10" in size • The maximum paper size it takes is 215.9 mm x 355.6 mm ( classed as legal : A4 is 210 x 297 mm) It will actually print 215.9 mm paper up to a length of 1117.6 mm (44 inches ) which means you can create panoramas or banners ... more

Advantages Advantages when it works the results can be stunning, photographic quality prints. Prints onto CDs / DVDs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Extortionate cost of Ink cartridges which CONSTANTLY run out! Heads clog rendering the printer useless.

In a nut shell, steer clear. Epson have asked for this poor rating by trying to rip me (a CUSTOMER) off by thinking that it is OK to charge £14 per ink cartridge, of which there are EIGHT (yep, a HUNDRED QUIDs worth) and which empty like a leaking bucket. Do you get a lot of ink in an ink cartridge for that price? No. You do not. You get a measley miserly stingy amount of ink which will disappear faster than you'd believe! You may be thinking that I do a lot of printing, that I am in an office, but sorry guys, minimal printing at home. Expect to be replacing 1 to 2 cartridges per month, i.e ... more

Advantages Advantages Outstanding Picture quality, 8 seperate ink tanks, CD Print

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, slightly larger than the standard desktop printer

Obviously as a range topping printer, you'd expect the print quality to be that little bit special - and this printer doesn't dissapoint. With 8 seperate ink tanks, including a dedicated Gloss optimizer for high standard prints, the results are truly inspiring, with an updated Epson design, which still shows the family traits from previous models (Have an Epson Photo 900 as well) With the latest Epson Photoquicker software, print options can be accessed with ease, giving a full range of options to optimize Digital stills, remove red eye, and auto balance light (Just don't expect Adobe ... more

Advantages Advantages High Print Quality, Price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Speed, Running Costs

The Epson R800 should feature on the 'consider' list of anyone looking for an inkjet printer for high quality photo printing. At full print resolution and on premium photo paper, the results from this printer are excellent - comparable in many cases to digital prints from the high-street kiosks. Colour prints are especially impressive. Monochrome prints, thanks to the two black ink cartridges, are also very good, although a little more effort in terms of fine tuning the pre-sets is required to make the most of printing in black and white. The lack of a built in flash card reader may be a ... more

Advantages Advantages Print Quality, CD Printing.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price, Ink Price, Slow printing.

I have owned an Epson R800 for about 12 months now and we have a bit of a love/hate relationship. The upsides to this printer are - Print quality - Simply amazing. On highest DPI settings this printer will print photos as good as professional kiosks will. I really can't fault it. Simplicity - When i bought this printer i expected to be over run with technical worries about how to get the results i wanted from it. The R800 comes with software like Epson photoquicker, Print cd and many others. These programs make using the R800 simple, more so than any other printer i have owned. There are some ... more

Advantages Advantages Great quality and reasonably cheap.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only up to A4 printing, and quite slow.

Now this is an excellent printer, that again, is easy to use, and has different levels of quality, so can also be use for everyday printing, and not saved for the holiday snaps! Some of the after-market inks are actually ok with this printer as well, as i know some of them are not as compatable with other printers ... if you get me?! Ha ha! The abilities that you have with this printer are amazing for the money, and although it is quite expensive to start out ... it is worth the outset, as you can also make money with this printer ... the quality is that good! Although with the money you ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant print quality, 8 ink cartidges (replace 1 not the whole thing)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not found any

I have had this printer for over a year now and am very pleased with it. I have read another CIAO review on this printer and do not agree with its comments about ink. For a start the cartridges are not £18 - Amazon have them at £11.01 and I have seen them for £9 elsewhere. I find they last a reasonable length of time and having eight means that you only have to replace the one that has run out, not pay for one of those expensive cartridges which contains a range of colours. In over a year I have only had to use the head cleaning utility once. Yes it does consume some of your ink, but this is ... more

Advantages Advantages When it works it prints better photos than a 4 year old can

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's always out of ink. Always.

Do not buy this printer. There are 8 ink cartridges, and one will always be empty. The prints are not professional quality, and since the ink cartridges need constant replacing, your prints will cost about $10 each. Snapfish will print better quality photos for a fraction of the price. To make matters worse there does not appear to be a way to print documents in black and white, so when you get tired of paying $10 for every sheet you print you will have no option to ignore colors, and print everything monochrome. The printer will simply stop working until you replace one of the $8 cartridges ... more
