Advantages: Excellent photo quality Disadvantages: No USB cable
I bought my new Epson Stylus Photo R800 in December last year, shortly before Christmas. Kind of present for myself! It was replacement for my old photo printer, as the name suggests - another Epson - Stylus Photo 890. It was a great printer, reliable, durable, making great quality prints until the day…
My promise to myself was to get another Epson printer as I knew the maker and loved quality of its printers and other "photo products". I own photo ... ...each cartridge. As always with Epson there's a crib on the printer's cover for those who aren't to sure how to do it, so do not wary! Installing the software is straight forward and easy, even for people who do not have much experience with it. Another couple of minutes and the software are ready. Now, with all done, is time to connect your new printer to the computer. And here comes the first and the only problem I ever come across with the printer. ...

Advantages: superb picture quality, borderless prints, speed, quietness, versatility, ease of use yet plenty of gadgets Disadvantages: doesnt have a built-in card reader
I’d like to share this Epson printer with you. It is well worth the investment if you want high quality prints with superb colour.
• The printer is able to provide ‘borderless’ prints although in reality the A4 and over prints actually have a 2 mm border approx which isn’t bad at all. It gives true borderless prints on papers 4" x 6", 5" x 7", and 8" x 10" in size • The maximum paper size it takes is 215.9 mm x 355.6 mm ( classed as legal : A4 is ... ...a selection of software including Epson Print CD Software and PRINT Image Matching II Plug-In for Adobe Photoshop 6.0, 7.0 and Elements (all titles are PC and Macintosh compatible, P.I.M. - and Exif Print-enabled). It manages colour with various ways: EPSON Standard, EPSON Vivid Colour and ICM or ColorSync colour management using ICC profiles
• The R800 is well built and neither looks or feels cheap , it is straightforward to set up and use

Advantages: when it works the results can be stunning, photographic quality prints. Prints onto CDs / DVDs Disadvantages: Extortionate cost of Ink cartridges which CONSTANTLY run out! Heads clog rendering the printer useless.
...nut shell, steer clear.
Epson have asked for this poor rating by trying to rip me (a CUSTOMER) off by thinking that it is OK to charge £14 per ink cartridge, of which there are EIGHT (yep, a HUNDRED QUIDs worth) and which empty like a leaking bucket. Do you get a lot of ink in an ink cartridge for that price? No. You do not. You get a measley miserly stingy amount of ink which will disappear faster than you'd believe!
You may be thinking that I ... ...yes, this happens with 'proper' Epson ink just as much as it does with the £3 alternatives (if you don't believe me, Google it - people have written guides on how to take your printer apart so that it can be cleaned for God's sakes).
You can ONLY perform the cleaning operation if ALL the cartridges have more than 10% ink remaining (not likely) and when you can perform the cleaning operation (which did NOT work after 5 consequtive attempts), each ...

Advantages: Outstanding Picture quality, 8 seperate ink tanks, CD Print Disadvantages: Expensive, slightly larger than the standard desktop printer
...truly inspiring, with an updated Epson design, which still shows the family traits from previous models (Have an Epson Photo 900 as well)
With the latest Epson Photoquicker software, print options can be accessed with ease, giving a full range of options to optimize Digital stills, remove red eye, and auto balance light (Just don't expect Adobe Photoshop type utilities). All current sizes of photo paper are installed in easy to use templates, which ... ...The CD print utility and software are equally easy to use. With the right type of printable disc, photo quality can be acheived on disc! As can be expected, as a fully functioned Photo printer, it is larger than a standard desktop printer, but given the features, it's worth finding that little extra room.
Set up is easy with an autoplay disc and all instructions, with a USB lead and the Power supply provided. So far, unlike most printers, which ...

Advantages: High Print Quality, Price Disadvantages: Speed, Running Costs
The Epson R800 should feature on the 'consider' list of anyone looking for an inkjet printer for high quality photo printing.
At full print resolution and on premium photo paper, the results from this printer are excellent - comparable in many cases to digital prints from the high-street kiosks.
Colour prints are especially impressive. Monochrome prints, thanks to the two black ink cartridges, are also very good, although a little more effort in ... ...full replacement set of genuine Epson cartridges, has the potential to hit your wallet hard, although ink usage is not excessive and the wide availability of 3rd party inks means that it is possible to more than halve this cost.
Long print life is promised - Epson claim that their Durabrite inks printed onto matching paper will give prints with upto 70 years of fade resistance. Bare in mind that third party inks and papers are likely to fade more ...

I have owned an Epson R800 for about 12 months now and we have a bit of a love/hate relationship. The upsides to this printer are -
Print quality - Simply amazing. On highest DPI settings this printer will print photos as good as professional kiosks will. I really can't fault it.
Simplicity - When i bought this printer i expected to be over run with technical worries about how to get the results i wanted from it. The R800 comes with software like ... ...bought 3rd party cartridges which Epson never recommends doing (probably to make more money) The results from these 3rd party cartridges are not as good but for the price you can buy them for it's well worth the sacrifice.
Looks - It's big, it's black and grey and it's ugly!
IC Chips - All the cartridges have a microchip. The original ones from Epson tell you the ink is empty when in reality there is up to 15% of the ink left. I think epson were ...

Advantages: Great quality and reasonably cheap. Disadvantages: Only up to A4 printing, and quite slow.
Now this is an excellent printer, that again, is easy to use, and has different levels of quality, so can also be use for everyday printing, and not saved for the holiday snaps! Some of the after-market inks are actually ok with this printer as well, as i know some of them are not as compatable with other printers ... if you get me?! Ha ha!
The abilities that you have with this printer are amazing for the money, and although it is quite expensive ... ...you can also make money with this printer ... the quality is that good! Although with the money you outset on this printer, you may as well get the upgrade to the A3 model, which is even better, and obviously the extra size is a LARGE bonus, but getting back to this printer, the print speed, especially on the highest quality, obviously, is pretty slow, and if you want a fast printer, then this is definately not for you. The price i paid for mine ...

Advantages: When it works it prints better photos than a 4 year old can Disadvantages: It's always out of ink. Always.
Do not buy this printer. There are 8 ink cartridges, and one will always be empty. The prints are not professional quality, and since the ink cartridges need constant replacing, your prints will cost about $10 each. Snapfish will print better quality photos for a fraction of the price.
To make matters worse there does not appear to be a way to print documents in black and white, so when you get tired of paying $10 for every sheet you print you will ... ...The printer will simply stop working until you replace one of the $8 cartridges. Once you replace it it will go back into its nozzle-cleaning subroutine and thereby empty another cartridge before you can print anything.
