...are their only choice, and Epson doesn't help by informing us that compatible cartridges aren't as good. Well as I've bought both originals and compatibles I thought I would give my opinion on whether it's worth paying out four times as much for the ink cartridges that carry the Epson name.
There's no point me going into any more detail about why you would buy them or even to go over the advantages of six cartridges over two or four, seeing as you ... ...---The Packaging---
The Epson cartridges come packed in a mainly blue box, while the IMJET's are packed in yellow boxes. In these boxes each cartridge is separately sealed in airtight plastic, which needs to be cut or torn open. Now, I actually found the IMJET packs slightly easier to open, but had to resort to using scissors for both sets of packaging. I do however feel that the IMJET cartridges were better packed as they were protected by a cardboard ...

Advantages: great photo quality & long print run Disadvantages: expensive
...I have been using an Epson R series printer for the last 4 years and would be looking to replace with another epsom.
The quality of print is in many respects down to the printer but if you put cheap ink into the printer then it doesn't matter how great your printer is the result will be poor especially for photo quality.
I use both genuine epson ink including the T0481, plus cheaper alternatives and the end result varies tremendously.

If printing on glossy photo paper I would recommend that you use only the original T0481 black cartridge to ensure the ink stays put on the paper, if you use ink that does not dry as fast and has a lower quality it will degrade even before the print has dried thus the picture would end up in the bin so don't waste your money on poor quality.
