Advantages Advantages As an employer, any application with 'Evans Halshaw' on their CV can be safely binned

Disadvantages Disadvantages Liars. Keep you waiting. No customer service. They hate you. Won't write cheques...Shall I go on?

I can't even be bothered to write a full review on Evans Halshaw - they are such a shambles. Here is my story, cut short: A) I had a Mercedes and needed to downsize. B) Because my car would be worth more that the car I would be buying, I needed someone I could trust to pay me the difference. Cue Evans Halshaw: 1) I phoned them (from AutoTrader) and got put through to a salesman 2) Told I didn't need to book an appointment to test drive the car, I turned up on the afternoon 3) When I turned up to the garage, no one would help me because the salesman I spoke to was with some one else 4) I waited ... more

Evans Halshaw does Highway robbery still exist Far from being one to whinge………. Does highway robbery still exist? I will explain then allow you to make your own minds up. A little background I purchased a Peugeot 406 executive 2.2 HDI (diesel) recently and discovered a fault that I was not aware of when it was bought, the so called FAP filter. Now this to anybody not in the picture sounds simple and cheap right? How wrong can you be? After doing research on the internet for quiet some time I discovered that is not at all simple or cheap. This is how it works on the Peugeot diesel HDI (common ... more

Evan Halshaw Vauxhall, 2 Cultins Road, Edinburgh: Not also steelers but a bunch of cowboys calling themselves professional car mechanics. Well I'll explain my history and also I want to express my total sympathy with emilne82. I bought a Vauxhall corsa from an Evan Halshaw dealer at the end of January 2008. Truth is to say that the selling process was pretty much smooth; I did not have any hidden costs and they did explain clearly the extra costs/products they were trying to sell me. The problems started afterwards. To start with, the car was advertised with the full manufacturing service ... more

Just before I started work with this organisation, I read some reviews, but thought that every company has customers who aren't happy and the people seem okay. Oh how wrong can a person be. Evans Halshaw is owned by a plc called Pendragon. Last year they were in serious doodoo with their share price and everything the company does is to do with cash flow. To minimse costs, sales staff receive no product training and no systems training. Everything is trial and error. While the cars genuinely are low priced, the cars are simply an opportunity to sell GAP insurance, Pureguard, Tyre Insurance and ... more

Evans Halshaw Renault Aberdeen - More of a Steeler than a deeler You know the story, you spend ages looking through the endless lines of cars in all the local garages, you see the car you like, its even in a nice color and the price is right, so you go for it. That's what we did, only to find out that Evans Halshaws are more of a steeler than a dealer! Previously we owned a Renault Meagne, it was a good car but a bit on the small side, especially with our second kiddie on its way. Having sold the Megane it was time to buy a new car. We eventually agreed on a Vauxhall Vectra that was for sale ... more

Evans Halshaw - THE WORST PROVIDER OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! (Please do not buy a vehicle from them if you can avoid it!!!) Myself and my husband went and purchased a 07 plate Renault Twingo GT From the dealership in sighthill Edinburgh. We were so happy with it and in any case what can go wrong, it's only done 800 miles , its had no prev owners as it was a demonstator... well Evans Halshaw like to break the mould shall we say. As I drove the vehicle home on the day we purchased the vehicle I noticed on the way home that I could not get the stereo to ... more

I had a terrible experience with Evans Halshaw at Darlington. I had a phone call out of the blue from one of the salesmen who informed me they had some wonderful deals and would I be interested in coming in to discuss this? I initially said no, as I am very happy with the car I have now. However I did eventually agree to go to the garage. To cut a long story short, I agreed to view a vauxhall astra that was located at a different branch. I was told I had to pay a 100% refundable deposit. The very pushy salesman went to great lengths to reassure me that the deposit was refundable if I didn't ... more

My recent experience of dealing with Evans Halshaw Batley was horrendus! They were only able to provide me a quote only when I was ready to order a car. I gave them the spec I wanted, a Ford Fiesta, and the one THEY chose seemed the most expensive option, and they didnt give me a choice of car so I assumed they were offering me the best deal. I was wrong. Initially I wanted it on finance, and after coming away and going through the figures at home, they didn't add up. I went back for a second time and when I asked them to break down the finance deal to show the monthly payments and the year by ... more

Advantages Advantages Got a good car in the end

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow sales process, watch the add ones, bodywork not repaired as agreed, one key doesn't work.

I knew of Evan's Halshaws poor reviews before purchasing a used car from their runabouts section at Crownhill in Milton Keynes. I was prepared for the sales pitch and add ons, or so I thought! I found a car which is 1 owner, low mieage and in my price bracket so agreed to purchase it. On sitting down to view my invoice I was supprised to see it had increased substantially, I immediately told the sales man I didn't want any add on's and I would pay in cash. The one that caught me out was a £98.99 charge for a Vehicle Status Check. I was told this was compulsary so went on with the deal as it ... more
