Advantages: heat retention, excellent products, workmen are tidy, long lasting products Disadvantages: a little expensive
Everest Windows- say this to some people and they get animated- they say how expensive they are, how pushy their salesmen are and how they would never use them.
Some people even mention Ted Moult! (do you remember him with his feather sitting next to a window in the highest pub in England (the Tan Hill) ?? I do!
I don't like to pre-judge and when I hear people slagging companies off I have to make my own mind up...so when I decided to get double ... ...but they insisted on doing Everest down. The Everest salesman did not mention any other company at all- he just got down to measuring up, putting the details onto some graph paper and giving me a quotation. The cheaper firms lost their sales that day! I had 15 windows (and they were mostly big ones) fitted about 10 years ago, for a very good price (about £6000). Yes, it seemed fairly expensive then, but I have never regretted it. I have never had ...

...has written a piece on Everest yet. Does that say something about the age of a typical Everest customer? Um.
We live in rural Devon in a cob cottage (basically an Englishman's mud hut), and have struggled with the upkeep of its wooden windows for years. The original oak windows have long gone, the cottage being about 250 years old, and we have had to suffer the previous owners' enthusiasm for cheap deal frames. I had toyed with the idea of plastic ... ...whether there is a ghost Everest firm operating, a sort of fake installer. It's been known. Personally, apart from their rather irritating habit of ringing us up to try to sell us conservatories or plastic doors, I wouldn't hesitate about using them again. Last time I just made it plain that I didn't want to be bothered again, IF they didn't mind. It seems to have shut the sales drongos up. Nevertheless, overall I would still give Everest five stars. ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Unwanted tips on how to discipline your child with violence
...whole house double-glazed and called Everest and left my details. I promptly received a call that same day from a salesman who said it would take 2 hours to measure up. I said I did not have that much time that day but would call him myself to reschedule. Needless to say he never let me get back to him and called himself a few days later. I explained we were now looking at other companies that offer sound-proofing secondary glazing to which he replied ... ...happy to hear that Everest could help me with soundproofing my daughter's bedroom and getting the whole house double glazed and started talking to "John" about my requirements. Part way through the conversation my daughter who was playing in the room (she's only 3 years old) started to make some noise, as children do. I called out to her to play quietly, which she did immediately. I returned to "John" on the phone and apologised for the distraction ...

...an update. After our cancellation, Everest finally responded. Read below for this update.
We had a difficult experience with Everest. They proved incompetent and unable to manage our order and deliver our windows. In 2005/06 we had a fairly standard window order with them; it went fine, so we decided to use them again. In July 2006 we placed an order through our local sales rep for two large front lounge windows, ground floor and first floor. A ... ...but are incorrect. I thought Everest should now be falling over itself to try and make it right. The workmen disappeared, and order was evidently sucked into a black hole. For several months we received no updates or progress on our order. Evidently there was activity at the factory level, though no communication to us about anything. From our perspective it seemed nothing was happening, nobody knew anything, and no one really cared. With every call ...

...a new front door from Everest and we are still waiting for them to finish it 2 years later. We can see daylight through the gaps and Everest have been back nearly 20 times to 'look' at the problem. They fitted glazing into the frame with no sealer and the water just poured through.
We are now just being fobbed off. They have taken some of the glass out twice and it still leaks. The wooden frame is now shot as they damage it each time they remove ...

We had a bay window fitted in 2006 by Everest with a sash opening.
The fitters took an afternoon to do the job.Shortly afterwards we noticed the window would not open. Some weeks later another team arrived an attempted a repair. This was to prove the start of a very long running saga.
Our decorator noticed light coming throung under the sill, and was scathing about the workmanship.
It was to be almost 12 months before the window ... ...our case was dreadful.
Everest gave us a quote on downstairs windows - a bay and another sash.Everest quoted a figure of £10000 for two windows. With 'discount' this was brought down to £5000 or so.There was the traditional discount if you 'signed on the day'.We then had a phone call from the salesman who offered to reduce the price by another 50%!
How can the cost of two windows vary from £10000 to £2000 with the same company? In addition the quality ...

Advantages: Don't know, haven't seen the product yet Disadvantages: Extremely slow service, appalling customer service, misleading customer service
The Everest woman did a great sales pitch and sold us on the product. (secondary glazing for two sash windows). On siging the Agreement Contract and paying a deposit of £360, she promised us the windows would be delivered in 6-8 weeks.
Three weeks later we recieved a letter from Everest Head office stating that they had started to manufacture the Everest products that we ordered. This was a patent lie.
One month later we had a call from Everest ... ...getting the same response from Everest - 'the factory has run out of windows' and 'we don't know when they'll be ready - we'll call you to let you know'.
I am told that Everest products are very good but at this rate I wonder if I will ever actaully see one.
Needless to say, I would defintely NOT recommend going with Everest. They have an appalling business strategy - selling a service which they cannot supply - and appalling customer service. ...

Advantages: A reasonable copy of the traditional timber sliding sash. Disadvantages: very poor energy rating, and has significant variations from the traditional design
...4 months after the installation Everest admitted that the windows would only perform to the equivalent of an 'E' rating, which is the bare legal minimum.
Apart from the energy rating disappointment, the windows were supplied much taller than I was expecting, resulting in an unsightly mismatch between my property and my neighbors.
Window sills were MDF, instead of a proper wood, and draft and noise ingress remains a problem. Although Everest say ... ...in my view all the Everest literature is focused on promoting their windows as having high energy ratings of 'B' or above. My advice to anyone thinking about purchasing Everest windows would be to obtain a clear written confirmation about the the energy rating of any window before going ahead, and also to clarify in the order exactly what you would like the windows to look like regarding dimensions.
My choice would be to choose a local specialist ...

Advantages: Single piece flat roof prevents leaks Disadvantages: Poor and incompetent workmanship, non existent follow up support
My Mother had the flat roof on the garage replaced by Everest. Whilst the roof looks good and now no longer leaks, the fitters fitted it the wrong way around. The raised edge that should have gone at the front of the roof was installed at the back, preventing rain water from getting into the gutters. She also complained about drips of glue/resin that had splashed onto the garage door. To rectify the splash marks they offered to repaint the door. ... ...anything in his life and only had enough paint to do a quarter of the job so splashed the paint around to cover a s much as possible. I had a quote for double glazing from Everest Windows that was outrageously expensive. The sales man told me that their quote was final, non-negotiable and they don't accept bartering.
After rejecting their quote last week I was just called from their 'customer services' department offering a substantial discount on the price quoted. No much for a final price!
If you do want to go with this company, don't accept the sales rep's price. Wait and barter. ...

Probably THE worst company I have dealt with ever!
After waiting 3 months for the product, it was delivered with chips and scratches all over the show (hard wood double glazed windows). Never mind that it's been 4 months since installation date and still have problems!!! Do not use them, they are overpriced and do exactly the opposite as 'promised' - You can see the full story and photos at http://www.do-not-buy-everest.co.uk ...

- Within one month, my brand new roof is leaking.
The after-sales service from Everest has been dire. My phone calls are never returned, surveyors reports have been lost. To cap it all I have even ...
