Advantages: rewarding, benefits you and others if you get it right, confidence Disadvantages: hard work, time and effort
I am writing this review in a variety of contexts. Primarily it is in the context of a secondary school as I am currently on my final teaching placement in a school where behaviour is extremely challenging with many pupils having severe behavioural disorders. However, I have also spend quite a few years running a childrens holiday club where over half of our children also demonstrated extreme negative behaviour. Therefore I have collated my key strategies ... ...of dealing with situations.
==Positive expectations==
Going into a school that is known for its reputation regarding behaviour made it very difficult not to have low expectations of the children. However I have found that by showing that I have positive expectations of all children it seemed to have a positive impact on their behaviour. The children in my school are almost expected to be naughty because that is what evidence suggests!! But this ...

A Heart rendering Disaster in Welsh History.
I have decided to dedicate this review to the memories of the 144 people who lost there lives in the tragedy that hit the small mining community of Aberfan 40 years ago today. I feel it only right to write a review on this sad story so that we can all take the time to remember how lucky we all are and that we should always remember those who lost there ... ...years ago on the 21st October 1966, just before the children were due to break up for there half term holiday. Pantglas Junior School had just finished singing 'All Things Bright and Beautiful' and were returning to there classrooms after morning assembly when the Gigantic wave of black sludge approximately 40 meters high, containing approximately half a million tons of colliery waste came rumbling down the mountainside engulfing the school and 21 ...

Advantages: Makes you realise just how well off we are nowadays Disadvantages: Shows how old I am getting
This is the story of my life mainly in the 40's. Hope you find it interesting.

I was born January 1940 when the Second World War was in its' infancy. My father missed this "wonderful" event, he was in the army getting ready to fight for us all. We lived in the second of four terraced houses, with my Grandmother. Swains Road led off of London Road, right on the South London/Surrey boarder. It was a long, narrow road with high walled ... ...the very end down a wide un-made-up alleyway called Swains Lane. There was only one gas light half-way down the lane, which gave off very little light (quite often it wasn't even on). Opposite was alarge allotment stretching the full length of the terrace and at the end of the lane there was a tall hedge behind which were more allotments - Very spooky at night! In my late teens, if it was nearly midnight, I remember leaving the bus at the top of ...

Advantages: Makes life easier Disadvantages: Costs you a lot more
"Added Value" is a marketing term used in the food industry - it is the way the supermarket giants manage to get YOU to part with more and more of your hard earned cash each week. You might of course be misled into believing the person getting the added value is you - you would be wrong! That added value all goes towards additional profits for these companies at your expense.
I am not saying of course that "Added Value" is necessarily a bad thing, ... ...But I do believe it is in our best interests to know how the whole thing works so that we can made reasonable judgements and consider the facts when we go shopping because it can help us to SAVE a little cash and perhaps, at the same time, eat a little healthier. ****A word of warning this is a long review but as it is my 100th review I wanted to get this off my chest!****
What exactly is "Added Value" ?

Advantages: Can help sometimes, quick emergency relief, 3rd world countries not forgotten Disadvantages: Developing countries end up worse off, vicious circle
Over the past three weeks, I have been studying the topic of "Aid" at school, and I have found it incredibly enjoyable, and I have really thrown myself into learning about it! **WHAT IS AID? **
Aid, simply means help. The help of developed countries, such as Britain, too developing countries such as Tanzania and Sudan through mostly means of money. There are many different types of aid; some are seen as "unfair aid" and some, are seen as "good aid". ... ...the best type of aid is emergency aid during disasters such as tsunami's, a famine, drought, or earthquakes; however at other times long term aid is required, to help a country with its infrastructure (roads, buildings, water supplies etc). “The World is too much with us; late and soon
Getting and spending we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours
We have given our hearts away…..”
To me it always seems that we in the west lost our way some time during the late twentieth century, somewhere between the optimism and joy of the sixties and early seventies and the tyranny of Thatcherism and the Yuppies in the eighties. Somewhere along that line where ... ...not at saving labour for mankind’s benefit in leisure, but saving labour-cost for the firm’s benefit in profit. The seeds were sown much earlier it would seem. Wordsworth wrote the opening words in 1806. If he had but known just how much worse it would become, when those seeds germinated and flourished.
Getting and spending. How much of our lives are given over to the pursuit of wealth, of acquiring what is, ultimately, “stuff”? ...

Advantages: A comprehensive history of Art Disadvantages: Some of you may be Art critics
Ah welcome, welcome my lovely friends. And, may I take this opportunity to thank you for visiting one of Belfast's finest Art galleries. At £25.00 for a day ticket, some of you may think the experience a little expensive, however, we in management would urge you to consider the interactive nature of the experience, the fine and salubrious surroundings, the quality of your guide for the day (myself) and the fact that maintaining Art's pipe and slipper ... ...the Aged' day-care nurse does not come cheap.
Before we begin I would urge that those of you of a nervous disposition take some time to calm yourselves, as some of the rooms may unsettle you. Also, 3D glasses will be provided in the rooms as necessary, so that you can fully enjoy the Art on offer. Healthy food and drinks are simply not permitted anywhere in the gallery, however red wine, Guinness and peanuts will be dispensed liberally whether you ...

196. That's the current count to date. If I'm honest, that's not bad for three years collecting! Yes, I am talking about my autograph collection - my most prized possessions! It all started back in 2005 when my addiction to Eastenders rocketed, and I discovered the fanmail address on their website. After that, I decided to make contact with the world of fiction, and wrote my first fan letters, to Natalie Cassidy (Sonya) and Shane Richie (Alfie). ... ...later, in the Summer of 2006, though after writing those, I did send out a few more letters. When it came to a month later, September 2005, I received my first success - none other than Kim Medcalf (Sam). I was over the moon, and this excitement continued when a few more enveloped with my print on it came flittering through the letterbox! So what is the excitement in autograph collecting? The buzz you get when you see your name on that envelope as ...

Advantages: There is one little airport that does a decent job Disadvantages: Too long to list
A for Airports & this is my award for the best customer friendly airport in the UK, that is after I have had a good old rant about British airports in general.
For those who use an airport once a year it can be a good experience, chances are you've turned up at an airport on your way to some sunny destination as part of your annual holidays. You are in a positive frame of mind & no brainless moron working at the airport will spoil your experience.
... ...less positive experiences such as work, you begin to see airports & the services they provide through a different light.
Over the last two years I have used a number of British airports for mainly work use as well as holiday use. They include airports at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lerwick, Belfast International & City, London Stansted, Gatwick, Heathrow, Bristol & Norwich.
Some are owned by BAA & some have different owners including ...

Advantages: The questions are by Ciao Members Disadvantages: I had to answer them!
Well I am having another writers block, (that's if I can call myself a writer), so what better time for me to think up of another wild and wonderful challenge.
This one is very simple compared to my recent challenges. You have all probably seen the ITV programs - An Audience With……(whoever it is)
Well this is where Ciao is your audience and more to the point, it's the members who will be asking you the questions.
Simply get as many members as ... ...and then answer them in your review.
I have personally nipped into various members guest books to see if they had any questions for me, with answers to which would be in the review. All were only too happy to oblige, and it has been good fun seeing what kind of questions they actually come up with. So if you get a chance give it a go, its fun.
So here goes…
