Advantages Advantages 2 / 3 years onsite warranty. Knowledgeable support staff.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Don't ring 'em at lunch time.

I have purposely waited for a few months to write my opinion of this new PC, to get a feel for the features, and also comment on the services provided by Evesham. I purchased my new PC, a 1.33 GHz Athlon with 256 MB ram, 19 inch monitor, CDR drive, Dolby Surround speakers and 60 GB hard drive, back in June. I ordered the system online to replace my ageing 450 MHz Pentium II Advent machine. I’d purchased that from PC World without doing a great deal of research on the subject. Whilst I was always fairly happy with this machine, it had become apparent soon after buying it that I could have done ... more

    Advantages Advantages range, price, convenience

Disadvantages Disadvantages not many high street stores

Many good opinions have been given about Evesham as an PC retailer, but I wanted to be first to offer an opinion specifically on their web presence. My experiences with Evesham began when I bought my first PC back in 1994. My friend and next-door-neighbour already had a PC from Evesham and, at the time, they offered great value for money with their extensive range of PC's. If I remember correctly, I ordered my first PC over the telephone. Since I never once had a problem with the first PC I bought from Evesham I suppose it counted in their favour when I was looking for a replacement early last ... more

Advantages Advantages Good systems, knowledgeable staff, warranty

Disadvantages Disadvantages Few stores in UK, but good website

About 20 months ago, I decided my old Packard-Bell PC was struggling to cope with the software I had installed on it, particularly with the demands of digital photo and video editing, and resigned myself to the need to part with more hard-earned on a new PC. My first thoughts were to go for a Dell PC as we used them at work, and they seemed to be aggressively targeting the home user. However, at this time, Dell had just reduced their inclusive warranty from three years to one year, and their pricing was not so competitive if you didn’t want one of their promotional packages. So I began ... more

Advantages Advantages Competetive prices, excellent support.

Disadvantages Disadvantages They have removed the no quibble 14 day money back guarantee.

Taking the plunge, dragging yourself kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, and buying your very first PC can be a very daunting experience as I found out. Some 6 months prior to making the purchase I bought and read from cover to cover various PC Magazines in order to familiarise myself with as many of the various terms and abbreviations as I could. This was one purchase I was determined not to be bullied into making by patronising sales staff who detect that I don't know what I am talking about. So, armed with my new found knowledge and knowing my RAM from my Gigabyte I whittled my ... more

Advantages Advantages Pricing, range/specs, helpful staff/tech support.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a store in every town, RAM upgrade unavailable when I visited.

In late September of last year (2002) I purchased an Evesham Voyager 5614 laptop from Evesham.com in Swansea (now relocated to the Evesham Microstore shop opposite the Grand Theatre). When considering which PC I was going to buy for university, there were a number of considerations. Chief amongst these were speed, size and price. I visited all the major PC retailers in my area, and online, and eventually decided that a laptop was my best bet, as it allowed portability (if I need to take it to lectures, the library etc) and the gap between desktop and laptop speed and spec is now so small as to ... more

Advantages Advantages On site two year warranty, freephone technical help

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

In October 1999 I was able to purchase a computer system, I bought all the mags, took advice from the family, and in the end I ignored it all and went for a PC from Evesham Micros. What helped me make my mind up was a two year on-site guarantee, I knew if anything went pear shaped with the equipment I would not have to lug it all around the country or parcel it up and suffer all the stress that goes with it. Armed with the specs from a PC magazine, I tootled down the Motorway, keyed up with excitement! I purchased from their Kings Norton branch, and I was unsure about the printer I wanted, so ... more

Advantages Advantages superb after-sales care; quality components

Disadvantages Disadvantages a little more expensive, but well worth it

I, like may who have written opnions on Evesham, am truely satisfied with both the quality of product and excellent after-sales care package afforded by this supplier. I originally bought a top-of-the-range computer from them when this meant a pentium 100 with a 1gb HDD and 8MB EDO RAM, way back when they were living in a small shop in Sparkbrook. It was ready within 2 days and was simplicity itself to set up, even for a bloke who had never owned so much as a BBC before. I had a few teething problems over the first 6 months when I deleted most of my drivers by mistake, but the freephone ... more

Advantages Advantages Wide variety of products*, helpfull engineers

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wide variety of products*, bad refund strategy

I bought a PC from Evesham in February of this year, intending for it to be available for my girlfriend to write essays and do coursework on in the run ups to her final year exams. After reading all the reviews i could find (computer shopper, PC shopper, etc, and this site), i was resonably confident of the quality of their machines. Thier website was very usefull, and we purchased a slightly modified Axis series PC (more RAM, a bigger Screen, etc) from their Evesham vale showroom. All good up until this point. Unfortunately, it took about 3 hours after we set the thing up before problems ... more

    Advantages Advantages excellent quailty

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bit more expensive

The first major PC purchase I bought from Evesham Vale was for over £2500, which was a lot of money and it was for a Top of the range PC at the time. Naturally I had concerns when placing the order as some places take ages and muck you around, Evesham is not one of these places. From the moment of placing the order I was treated very well and looked after as a customer, they obviously know how importany a happy customer is too them. The goods arrived quick smart, well packaged, all working fine. Each item in the PC had the full quoter of demo disks, leaflets, cables, spares that you would ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent computer and reasonable prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Shop serve very poor, their Online servce may be better

I writing to complain about the service I received form this company. I bought a Quest A1200 (code QU1004) from the London store in Cavendish street, I already own a three year old Evesham Vale prestige 233 and I liked their computers and service. According to their sales brochure delivery should be within ten days or they promise to call, after eleven days I called the shop to find out what was going on. I was told that there was a delay due the a lack of mother boards but that I should have the computer by the following Tuesday. On Wednesday I again had to call the shop and still the ... more
