...first time I have bought Evian mineral water, but it is not a brand I buy regularly, purely because I find it quite expensive. A single bottle (0.75 litre) will set you back around 79p and a pack of 6 x 50cl bottles costs around £2.05 from most supermarkets. WHAT IS EVIAN?

I first tasted Evian spring water when I was on holiday in France. I bought the water because we were traveling through France and needed some bottled water. I choose Evian over the wide range of other brands on offer because I believed at the time that this was the best brand on the market! Evian is a French brand and is made by the giant Danone group. It is considered a high end product and as such has a lot of snob value! The water used comes ... ...Evian tell you on their web site that the water used starts its journey high up in the Alps when it falls as rain and snow. Over many years the water runs down the mountain traveling through vast mineral fields, until it arrives in the spring. Evian bottled water comes in a clear plastic bottle with a simple mountain picture on the front. The packaging does look quite up market in my opinion which is exactly what Danone intend it to do! The Evian water comes from the source in the Alps just off of Lake Geneva. It is now owned by the Danone group and was first put into the US in 1978. It is named after the village which is at Lake Geneva so there is no great story as to how they got their name. ...last thing I'll say about Evian bottled water is if you have access to one, try and keep it chilled in the fridge for at least half an hour before serving and maybe add some ice too, this will give you the best flavour and the coldness of the water will leave you feeling fully refreshed.

Evian comes in a “rocket” like bottle and has a wonderfully grafted little mountain range on it that looks rather attractive. I wish more bottles did something to endear themselves to us like this, imagine an Orange juice, with an orange artistically on the plastic of the bottle, would be kind of cool. Evian 1.5l bottle costs from about 85p upwards depending on outlet.
With the current spate of hot and EXTREMELY humid weather I thought I'd share my thoughts on my favourite bottled water, evian.

Where does it come from?
The Swiss Alps is the best description. It falls high up in the mountain range and then slowly filters down through the mountains and their "Aquifer" as they call it, which purifies, cleanses and removes impurities. It then comes to the source of Evian, Evian-Des-Bains, a small village at the foot of the Alps.

Yes. Bottles. It comes in plastic bottles that contain a slight Blue tinge. This gives the illusion of crystal clear and ice cold water. Good marketing technique.
