Highly Dissapointing

Advantages: Licenses, large database, presentational sheen
Disadvantages: Shoddy gameplay, 'sweet spots', glitches

...the dramatic improvement that was fifa 2003, the gaming community had high hopes for this update. Initially, I thought this had been achieved, but faults began to show. GRAPHICS I will begin, however, by concentrating on the positives. The graphics simply are superb. If we forget about the fact that many players look nothing like their real life counterparts, then there is a very solid and well constructed graphics engine. The stadiums, kits, balls, ...
...of the positives of the fifa series, and 2004 carries this on well. Everything from the menu system to the in-game popups add to the TV broadcast style of the game. I do not really need to go in depth – the graphics are great, and I have no huge complaints. SOUND Overall, the assortment of ‘mottyisms’, cheers, chants and music is top quality. The soundtrack of EA sports ‘trax’ this year more varied and interesting than 2003, and although bound ...

A bit old now, but still going strong

Advantages: Extremely addictive
Disadvantages: Lots of little niggles and faults

...must say, I am reviewing Fifa 2004 on the PC, but it should be exactly the same as the PS2 version. I'm the sort of person who buys a game and expects it to last me a good few years before I get bored. And I have to say, this is certainly the case with Fifa 2004, since I got it for Christmas in 2003, and I am still playing it now. I wouldn't have bought this had Pro Evolution 3 been available on the PC at that time, since I have heard that it is ...
...However, after all the hype, Fifa 2004 was a bit of a let down. You see, it's a strange thing; although I am still playing and enjoying this game, it is actually technically not very good. Fifa 2004 has so many faults that it really shouldn't be playable, but somehow I'm addicted. For a start, the gameplay is quite terrible. It would seem that there are two ways to score a goal in open play: from long distance; or by booting the ball forward for ...

FIFA 2005 (not 2004)

Advantages: up to date players and teams, a chuffing good game
Disadvantages: Same old Same old

...recently wrote a review for Fifa 2005 and thought i could enter it onto this site, as there was no Fifa 2005 i thought it best to enter under its closest relative Fifa 2004. Anyway here it is. FIFA 2005 sees another addition to the masses of soccer games that are currently filling the shelves in stores around the country. But with such a choice of soccer games available what makes the infamous FIFA series so much more popular than any others? With ...
...even touch the success that FIFA have had since the first game was released for the mega drive back in 1994. By now the games have improved considerably in all areas since the '94 version; game play, graphics, commentary and the rest. But FIFA 2005 tops them all with the best of everything so far. Graphics are constantly improving for football games but FIFA 2005 shows more than just great graphics, it shows a great attention to detail and unlike ...

FIFA Football 2004

Advantages: Official football game with all the licensed teams and players
Disadvantages: The gameplay isn't good enough

FIFA 2004 is the fourth FIFA title on PS2 and it really hasn't nailed the gameplay structure to match Pro Evolution Soccer 3 is this any better than FIFA 2003? INFO: Developer: EA Sports Publisher: EA Sports Out: Now Price: £39.99 Website: www.fifafootball2004.ea.com Special Features: Online Network Play 50HZ mode: No Players: 1-8 with multitap INSIGHT: EA Sports is a well respected publisher when it comes to games making the football ...
...There is something different about FIFA 2004 to its preddecessors well a few things actually. Firstly there is a new Off The Ball Control system which is tricky to use with the L2 button giving you three possible players to pass to, you cycle through them with the L2 button. You use the right analog stick to move the players off the ball. Is this just a gimmick? Well, yes it is, really your'e better just lobbing the ball with the square button than ...

The best footie game ever? I think so!!!!

Advantages: Great graphics and gameplay
Disadvantages: Puts all other footie games out of business

...a high number in the Fifa football series as they have been going for a good few years. The first ever one i bought was in 1997 and was for the pc. That too was a great game. This latest title has all the characteristics of a great game which includes great graphics, gameplay, commentry and is also quite easy to navigate. There are overal five different ways of playing and i will go through them in turn. At first there is the play now option where ...
...it be the computer or a friend. You can choose the team, the length of the match, the kit, the place of the match and various other features which you would find on most new games. The second way of playing is the career mode. This is the brand new thing which is only on this game. In this you choose your club and battle through five whole seasons of footie with all in your league which also includes all the cups that your team might be in. You ...

A little too simple

Advantages: Off the ball control, Free kicks, Choose which set pieces you want
Disadvantages: Corners, Penalties, easiness to tackle

Fifa 04 is a great game, but i don't really think it's good enough for such a high rate company. The graphics on the game are very good and there is no disputing that, as well as the range of teams to play as. The 'off the ball control' is really nice as well, you can make a one two run or beat the offside trap and this is very cool. It basically works by pressing a button then cycling to one of the three players that appear as options. You are now ...
...to score, which wasn't in Fifa 2003. You also have a real goal in the game, managerial points (which are gained by trophies, promotions, clean sheets, winning streaks etc.) and completing your profile which is something previous editions lacked. You also have the option to choose what set pieces you can select from in which positions, and this is saved in te profile. However, with the corners you basically head it and its a goal, the computer doesn't ...

Living Up To Expectations?

Advantages: Licenses & transfers updated
Disadvantages: Rubbish celebrations

FIFA Football has been ahead of the other football games like Pro Evolution Soccer for years but with new footie games coming out FIFA 2004 had to be a success. And it was. The first main new feature you would have noticed is the Off The Ball play. This is playing football off the ball and if used successfully can be the key to winning a game. Off The Ball command is when a player on your team has the ball and starts to slow down and walk. Now you ...
...Total Club Manager 2004 on Fifa 2004. I don't fully understand this system but its worth looking into. FIFA 2004 is also compatiable with the new Online Play and gamers can go online and play people from all over the world which is very very handy for children that have no siblings and for children that dont have many friends round cos playing on your own all the time is just boring. Multiplayer is one of the best thnigs about this game. Its a ...

...nice feature though. Since 2003, Fifa has edged more towards the Pro Evo style of play, its less of an arcade game, but still not as realistic as other games on the market (which can be too realistic). I got mine from amazon, like I do with most games, only £29.99 probably less now though. Buy it now, its a game that doesn;t take hours of training (although that is an option), you can pick it up straight away. ...

FIFA the King, but all that glitters isnt gold!

Advantages: Always has been the best console football game ; and this is no different
Disadvantages: Music, Heading, Corners, Transfer Window

Having not owned a FIFA game for a couple of years but knowing that EA consistently produce the best football games around, I can only say I am delighted with FIFA 2004. However, with air of a spoilt child who quickly becomes accustomed to the best I found it fairly easy to find fault with this game which has blighted my opinion slightly. Firstly FIFA is second to none on game play which is undoubtedly the most important feature of any sports game. ...
...angle. However as much as FIFA 2004 has to offer there are issues which need highlighting. The mini-jukebox which plays a selection of songs between sequences is great at first but is limited to about 12 songs, which start to become more than irritating after a prolonged session, especially as some of the songs are cringingly bad. If you are to have music on constantly it would seem to me you would have a bigger range of songs like a real jukebox. ...

...breath away. i recently purchased FIFA FOOTBALL 2004 and because i had played the other fifa's in the past i could not wait to open the packaging and 'slap' the disc into my ps2 drive. After playing this game i was very impressed. Not just an annual update!

Advantages: Graphics
Disadvantages: Easy

Fifa 2004 isn't an annual update from ea, it has exiting new features such as, off the ball running, career mode ( where you control a team for 5 years earning prestige points) and many more. Off the ball controls allow the person on the ball to have three options of players who you also control (aswell as the man on the ball) and as they make runs you can play a lofted ball or a through ball to the selected player. Another feature of the game is ...
...the same saved game in fifa 2004, although this is time consuming it is an innotive way of playing, meaning you can manage in total club the games you want to manage and play in fifa 2004 the games you want to play. Also football fusion allows you to import lower league clubs from different nations and play woth them on fifa 2004 increasing the size of the fifa 2004 database. fifa 2004's graphics however have reached a new improved best, outclassing ...

My fifa 2004 review

Advantages: Great graphics, realistic goals, alot of faces are very realistic
Disadvantages: Long range shots go in ( not past the halfway line) some faces are not up to much

The new and improved fifa is back! but this time its even better than before, with its awsome graphics and superb run and play, this game excludes goals from the halfway line like some games, with great saves from the keeper including long range shots, short range shots and spot kicks. When they shoot they actually hit the ball (touch it) Unlike pro evolution soccer games where they hit the ball about 30 cm's away from ball to foot. The faces are ...

Rip-off

Advantages: Off the ball movement
Disadvantages: Little differences to previous version

Every year brings a new Fifa football game with little difference to it. My advice would be if you have the previous version, don't bother. The only real difference is that of the teams in each of the leagues and the players playing for each team. The main advertised difference is that of the off-the-ball controls, enabling players to move for the ball and find space which can then lead to better attacking opportunities. But these are hard to use ...

Indifferent!

Advantages: Great options and freekicks
Disadvantages: Crap gameplay.

FIFA Football 2004 is a must have for those 'Beckham wannabe's'. I love the freekicks, they are extremely fun to do! The amount of the options on this are superb, ranging from a simple exhibition friendly to a full on career mode in which you manage your team where you can buy and sell players and play the matches but honestly, what are the chances of Ronaldo joining Middlesbrough??!?!?! it is very simple to sign the best of players to average clubs. ...

Overall I was quite impressed but Pro Evolution is definately more fun but this game is unbeatable if you want a more realistic games. ...
