...== History of Fable II ==
Well, set 500 years after the original game Fable and Fable: The lost characters, having not played either of these games I had no idea what to expect when I put the disk in the console. Apparently the game is set around the time of what would have been the Enlightenment, my god if I haven't heard enough about the Enlightenment in the past two years doing my English A-Level. All about the times with castles and guns being ... ...character..! === Fable Game Play ===

To get around most places it is simple enough to follow the glowing trail that shows you basically where to go if you set the quest to a certain place in the land then the glowing trail will show you how to get there..
Obviously running and walking everywhere is not going to always be the fastest option for an explorer so there is a feature in the pause menu to travel quickly to a place ...

Oh my goodness... a sequel that doesn't suck sliced lemons. This is a game that would be either revered as an awesome demi-god of action RPGs, or be reviled like a pile of cow pat diarrhoea melting in the hot sun. Luckily for me (and you) I like this game, therefore I am here to review this game and reveal to you why I enjoy this game so very much.

As a result, my review here will be somewhat biased due to my penchant for gaming of the role playing type, but it would be a bias within the realms of Ciao review acceptability. Oh yes, let the conformation begin.
The game takes place on Albion where everyone sounds British. The poor all sound like crazy cheeky cockney chaps, whereas the rich all sound like pompous ...

...life shtick of the original Fable didn't seem to wash with either the gaming press or players, who found the whole experience not unpleasant but somewhat more shallow and superficial than suggested. Lionhead have kindly spared all these critics a job though, as to accurately summarise Fable 2 is to click 'Edit', suffix '2' to the title and click 'Publish' - as 'somewhat more shallow and superficial than suggested' is the phrase which readily springs ... ...I'm rupturing scorn all over Fable 2's cack-handed notions of freedom, I'll also mention that the getting married, having a child, and pursuing a career features are as unfulfilling as they are unnecessary. Luring a spouse into your grubby clutches is so simple it's little wonder that some of the towns seem overrun with dirty looking street urchins. As with all user instigated communication within Fable, attracting a member of the opposite sex entails ...

...having a lot of merits, Fable was unceremoniously crushed under the weight of expectation, victim of its own ambition: talking up a myriad of features, only to axe them one by one as release drew nearer. Truthfully, Fable II does try to up the story ante a little bit, but even the "twists" remain pretty much stock; it does however succeed in weaving the story better into the gameplay and connecting the hero avatar with the player that much more.
Gamers will probably find the pay-off a bit on the light side, as the game is certainly lacking in climactic one-on-one battles, but it does culminate to a couple of hard choices that ...

...creators of such games as Fable and Black and White, I had very high hopes for their "Revolutionary" sequel to their Fable franchise, Fable 2. Upon playing said game however, you cannot but help to be disappointed at how it eventually turned out. Advantages: Nice and friendly, enjoyable and fantastic, a lovely story. Disadvantages: Annoyingly simple, anti-british, as deep as a well and just as dark.
Fable 1 miffed me...it threw away a lot of established concepts about the role-playing game and concentrated specifically on one fundamental aspect...story.
Actually, this shouldn't miff me at all. I love story in games, I love being drawn in by the depth of the characters, no matter how unbelievably British they are. Seriously, they are not even British, they are only "American" British (i.e. an international viewpoint of how a cartoon British ... ...What miffed me about Fable 1 was its ideas...they were strange. Fable 2... before this game came out in my mind it was set to be the greatest game ever created. I was ready to make the sacrafice to my social life and never see outdoors again. Advantages: Much more open-ended than its predecessor, beautiful graphics and animation. Disadvantages: A slightly weak storyline.
The original Fable was a game both powered and blighted by great hype, one that promised the world and fell short – but only just. Though a very entertaining, ambitious effort in its own right, it didn’t quite live up to the sky-high billing its enigmatic creator, Peter Molyneux, gave it.

Fable 2 has a really strong story, having the story strong does help the game time last longer, basically you are a little boy/girl living with your little sister dreaming of going into the castle, after years of living in a run down tin shed after your parents die, one afternoon you decide to go out and in that great day out you earn five coins and buy a magic music box that grants you one wish, you wish to own the castle, you go to sleep ... ...the scenery is fabulous, because fable 2 is a game where you can venture anywhere the scenery is really focused on and well done, I love the way that when you buy a house you always spot another one in the background, I also love the way the trees sway in a different way every day. Advantages: Lots of things to do. Some beautiful scenes. Great audio. Disadvantages: Not too fleshed out. WAY too short.
Fable II can be described in many different ways, the vast majority of those coming from lead designer Peter Molyneux. But are his words backed up with gameplay enjoyment? GAMEPLAY The controls of Fable II are fairly simplistic, but the execution reduces the feeling of constraint often associated with similar control schemes. Simply put, the A button is context sensitive actions (opening chests, talking to characters, diving for treasure etc...) ... ...to the niggling part of Fable II's gameplay. Character death. This is the key flaw in the combat, and what makes Fable II simply too easy. The penalty for dying is practically nil. Basically, you lose all of the uncollected experience orbs, and gain one scar. Then you're resurrected at the same spot you died with full health, ready to finish up. I think this is far too lenient, and they should at least reset the enemies health, or send you back the ...

I never normally like games like these, RPGs or whatever they're called, but this one I was really impressed by. Saying that, it did take a while for me to get into it.
