Faceparty, is a chat, dating and networking site, available to people aged 16 or over. Faceparty as we know it now, was set up in the year 2000, but was used under a different name for several years before this. It is predominantly used by teeneagers, although you will often find older men and women on there aswell.
Registration to faceparty is relatively simple, and requires little information. after accessing the site through www.faceparty.com, ... ...asks a few simple questions, such as choosing a member name, and a password. You're then asked to fill in some profile details. These include:

County
Gender
Sexuality
Birthday
These details are not optional, but most people fill them in either with the actual inormation, or with random words or question marks, rather than give away any information about themselves. You can add extras to your personal profile later on after registration, ...

So what have I been doing with my time lately? Well this Faceparty site has quite a lot to answer for! It’s not the only culprit (still tied up with Ebay, games sites, music forums, etc), but it’s the one I’m going to write about today!
I would normally steer well clear of supposed “dating” or making friends sites due to being cautious and cynical but I ended up joining Faceparty by accident (I’ll explain in a minute!) and it’s become a bit of an ... ...So how did I come to find and join Faceparty? I’m a member of a forum on a site for one of my favourite bands. It’s a very active forum and a lot of us know each other from “real life” through meeting at the bands’ concerts and such like. My friend told me about Faceparty nearly a year ago now.
I had never been on a chat website before as I always had a stereotype of people who used them but thanks to FaceParty I know there are some funky people out there who use it to pass the time of day or to meet new people!
FaceParty is free to use however there is an option to purchase "cool tools" which give you added features.
To start off with, you choose a username and create a profile. ... ...you fill in the blanks. Examples of questions are "do you use drugs" and you can pick an answer from a dropdown list. Another question is "Perfect partner". The questions range from your physical description to our lifestyle to your dreams to factual information about yourself.
You can upload pictures (a maximum of 4 if you don't have cool tools). These pictures are displayed on your profile and this is what attracts people to visit you.

I have been a member of Faceparty for a few months now and while the initial novelty has worn off I still find it a useful site for finding potential friends if not maybe even partners…..
So what is it?
Basically it’s a semi-dating site that also caters to a younger more party oriented crowd. The general idea is that using a profile you complete yourself you contact others who take your fancy or wait for others to contact you. At the time of writing ... ...as a fair number of those will be duplicate or dead profiles it’s fair to say that number is exaggerated. That said however even being nasty they have at least 1 million members most of whom are fairly genuine.
It’s an easy site to navigate and everything is fairly self-explanatory on there and the help pages are very clear and quite good for the simple things and most members will help you if you get stuck.

Advantages: Simple to use, smooth interface and reliable. Disadvantages: Extremely stuckup community and lack of customer service.
I had been using this place from 2002 - 2005, before the likes of MySpace and Facebook improved their public image and become vastly popular. However when I look back, I really wish I hadn't spent so much time on this place. Although, there wasn't really any alternatives back then for online communities. Faceparty was even voted a website of the year at some point, can't remember when, but that shows the lack of competition it had back in the day.
... ...Faceparty, as I deleted my account there sometime in 2006. Yet they used to have this former dominatrix or current dominatrix as their agony aunt. Giving extremely sarcastic or arrogant replies to every question being sent in. I do have a sense of humour, but thats not the point. There are kids as young as 13 using that place...and they have a egomanic domme as a form of role model, what?? On that subject, they were selling sex toys in their online ...

Faceparty is a site which allows you to create a small webpage that contains some simple information about you. The main advantage of this site is that it is easy to use. The information that you can upload is actually quite limited. This includes height, weight, body type, interests, sexuality and job type. In addition you can upload photos of your self to a photo-page. Uploading photos is very easy to do.

Faceparty.com calls it’s self the worlds biggest party on earth, with 2,425,658 members online. It is a place to meet like-minded people for fun, love or friendship.
What can you do on faceparty?
·Create your own online profile and add photos.
·Browse through other member profiles and send messages to each other. You can browse others using gender, age and location.
·Find out what the world thinks of you when others rate your profile! I am pleased ... ...other members and select people to be your buddies. If you select someone to be your buddy you can then see when he or she are online.
·Get invited to the faceparty events and parties. The last party was called Festival of Dreams and was held at Billingsgate Market in September 2003. I wasn’t able to go along but looking at the pictures on the site it looks like it was one wild night.

If you like looking at what people look like before you chat and what they like and dislike this is a site for you, i have joined and got additcted to it. I have spoke to some intresting people from aboard and from the UK, you can add you picture and enter some information about you, it's free to join and easy to use.
The layout is bright blue and easy to use.
When you got to the home page it gives you a list of opitions, you can join or you can ... ...you join you have a web address which you can pass on to show everyone what you look like and what you like and hate.
When you have logged in you have a list of options,

...website of the same idea. faceparty.com has been around since 2000 and is A social networking website just the same as myspace is. Dave Bamforth and Phineas Kibbey are the creaters of this website and faceparty's origins date back to a site in 1998 called captain miracle.
*MEMBERSHIP*
You have to be 16 or over to join faceparty and normal membership is free. on your profile you can now put as many pictures as you like without needing any of the ... ...later.
It only takes a couple of minutes to sign up and then you can start making your profile.
*CONTROVERSY*
The reason for the age of 16 is due to controversy about girls under 16 posting adult pictures of themselves on their profile. Since then they have introduced an adult pics part of your profile where you can buy an Adult verification pass that allows you to be confirmed as over the age of 18. I first joined faceparty about a year ago, when one of my friends who has a faceparty account decided to set one up for me. When he set me up an account (which was for no reason other than sheer boredom) I pressumed it was a site just like myspace or facebook. Basically, a way of keeping in touch with friends through sending each other messages over the internet. I have since realised that faceparty is more like a dating site than a way of keeping ... ...as far as saying that it is a website soley used for dating purposes but that does seem to be the main use for it. I know one or two people on it but 9/10 of the messages I receive are from guys asking for my msn address or often something slightly cruder which I don't think I need to go into too much!

I've been a member of Faceparty since 28th November 2001 and I've met quite a few decent people from it. To begin with you need to pick a username, make sure it's fab, funky and flirty, that way you know you'll get loads of hits! Make sure you have a cool quick description too, most people get an idea of what you're like from this. You can put anything you like into this profile, Starsign, age, hobbies, location and loads more. Normal members get ... ...photo's for all you minx's out there. You can browse other members profiles, chat with them in the chat room, send them messages, rate them and add people to buddy lists. Even if your are getting harrassed by a certain member, you can add them to your Pests list and then thay can no longer message you, Cool Huh?

OK, just to dispel any misconceptions. I'm actually very liberal, but I DO have to draw the line somewhere. What consenting *adults* do between themselves is up to them, but when it involves people under the age of 18 then it's a different matter.
The basic premise of FaceParty is as a kind of instant messenger and chat portal and also people can rate you and your profile (so it's also a bit narcissistic). You can add pictures, chat and do all the ... ...Last week I got a call from a friend who has a 15 year old daughter and she allows her daughter and her friend (aged 13) to use the net on a trusted basis. As I'd installed the LAN and outgoing internet connection in her house she asked whether there was anyway she could find out what was going on in regards to FaceParty and her daughter.
