...the company that originally made Fairy in the early 20th century. It has been cleaning the family's clothes for over 100 years. ***What Makes It Special?***
Firstly what is non-biological? This means that it does not contain detergent enzymes which all biological powders do. Obviously Fairy is not the only non-bio out there, but it also has special softening qualities. According to the company this is due to a softening system based on natural ingredients. ... ...***The Packaging***
Well Fairy Washing Powder has had the pretty much the same packaging for as long as I remember. The basic colour is blue with a gold heart with Fairy in it. It has the ever recognisable Fairy baby on it and states 'Huggably softer for sensitive skin'.
There is something about this packet that just makes you feel safe. Is it that it has been around for so long, or the adverts are always talking about how using this will help ...

...you a secret…I have a Fairy in my cupboard! In fact I have two. One is very helpful ensuring my dishes get nice and sparkly, the other is the subject of this review and gets the family’s clothes clean. Both Fairys are from the same family and of course, unless you live on another planet, you know that I am talking about Fairy, the brand name, for washing up liquid and powder (to name but two).
When my son Jack was small (he’s 6 ... ...added expense, I would try Fairy non-biological automatic. It was expensive compared to most powders but after a couple of weeks using it, Jack seemed to stop getting the rash. I was hooked. So what else can I say about it? Hang on…. I’ll go and get the box….
Cor blimey! It’s heavy! To make things as economical as possible I always buy a big box. This one is a whopping 3.3kg that cost me an equally whopping £6 something from ...

Does Fairy washing powder come up to scratch on all these features? Let's find out...
DOES IT CLEAN?
------------------------
In my experience, the answer to this question is yes. Myself and my partner own a Golden Retriever dog that is often covered in slobber, mud and various other smelly and messy concoctions. Invariably they usually end up being transferred onto my clothes by his over-enthusiastic hugs and shakes. He seems ... ...stains at low temperatures.
Fairy washing powder has no trouble removing even the toughest mud and grime, even when I wash at 40 degree temperatures. There is no need to pre-soak as in my experience they have simply come out in a normal wash. I wash my sheets and bedding at a higher temperature, and have found that Fairy works just as well at 60 degrees or higher.
For households with active kids, then this would be a good option as it's stain removal ...

...bought an 800g box of Fairy non biological washing powder as it was on offer for £1.97 at Wilkinsons and thought this was a bargain. I have never used this brand before but as it was on offer and it is a well known brand I thought I would give it a go and if I didn’t like it I could always go back to my usual brand. The normal price for this was £2.97.
The box is light blue with the well known Fairy logo and baby on front. It says a box this size ... ...it does not contain any enzymes and therefore should be better for those with sensitive skin.
There is a metal pull down flap on one side to dispense the powder and upon opening I was greeted with a light fresh smell which I thought would be great on my clothes. The powder itself is fine and white with light blue flecks and the directions suggest using 80ml of powder for a normal load in a soft water area. The amount of powder you need will depend ...

...My mum alway used fairy when we were little but when I moved out and got married I just used whatever was on offer or smelled the nicest. Unfortunately my daughter has reallly bad eczema and after trying several different types discovered that Fairy is the kindest to her skin. It is alway easy to spot on the shelf as it has that trademark turquise colour with the cute little baby on it. The powder itself is white with turquoise flecks and smell really ... ...out as I think that my nose becomes so used to the smell that I cant smell that cotton fresh smell if I uses the powder all the time. Advantages: readily available at most shops, leaves clothes very soft without having to add conditioners Disadvantages: a bit expensive compared to other brands of non bio available
I had had Fairy recommended to me by several people when they heard we were expecting a baby. Now, that was not my usual brand of washing powder, and having seen a friend's greasy restaurant clothes come out still a bit grease stained after washing with it, I had a bit of trepidation. Still, I figured I would give in to pressure and try a single box. I am glad I did.
It washed the milk and posset stains out of her wash beautifully. It left her baby ... ...result I first saw with Fairy with our friend's wash. I mentioned it one day. Mystery solved- I have a washer with a better wash rating than he has. Mine has an "A" rated wash, his is a cheaper machine and has a "B" rated wash. What a difference! Apparently no matter what he uses, he gets this result, and often gets soap powder residue as well. I was very relieved to find out this was the answer, as I dreaded the thought of one day finding a stain ...

Advantages: Cheapr than some, does not damage colours Disadvantages: Irritation to my skin. Does not clean the clothes.
If you have allergies to washing powder, DONT use fairy.
I had to stop using Persil after it caused a reaction with my skin due to something in the powder.
After speaking to a couple of people at work, various members of their families have suffered the same with Fairy.
It must have something in it that is quite caustic.
In fact, it does not even do a very good job of the washing.
What it doesnt do is strip the clothes of their colour. A bit ... ...buy, it protects them in the wash.
Saying that, it does not wash them clean and leaves soap on your clothes.
This is half the reason why I had such a reaction I think.
So here are the good points.
Its cheaper than some powders.
It does not strip the colour out.
And here are the bad points.
Causes a reaction with my skin.
does not get the clothes clean.
Not reknowned for clothes cleaning.
Leaves a residue on the clothes.
I think the bad ...

...powder. I started using Fairy when my son was born on my mothers recommendation, i was consious that his skin was going to be delicate anyway as he was so tiny, but as i have suffered with ezcema since i was very young i thought i was better to be safe than sorry. I'm sure that i could easily have used the supermarkets own brand and it would have done a similar job for half the price, but i know that his isn't causing irritation to my very precious little bundle so he's worth ever penny i spend on it. Another good thing i have found with it is that i don't need to use large amounts to get good results, that may just be because i live in a soft water area but i'd like to think that it's ...

Advantages: gets cloths clean and fresh Disadvantages: expensive
I first bought fairy non-bio because my daughter suffered severe skin "itchiness." We used to use surf but we found out it was that making it worse. And then we tried different softener bold, persil, ariel non-bio and non of them worked yet fairy did.
The problem we had against fairy was that it was expensive and are water is quite hard around here, so we buy "ardens water softener" at our local chemists for 99p and it saves us a lot of money.
Fairy ... ...Since I have been using fairy I have also noticed a build up of residue around the washing machine tub (the plastic/metal thing around the drum which does not move) which I can't remove!
Anyway Fairy is available at most supermarkets in blue box with a baby on (currently sponsoring the special care baby foundation) It is available in a big box of powder, a little box of powder, a big box of tablets, a small box of tablets and a regular size bottle ...

It washes whites beautifully clean and white even on a 40 degrees cycle. My white bath towels have never been so white!! Also the smell of the powder is very nice!! its a gentle sweet sort of smell and It lingers on the clothes not just after the wash but even after being in the tumble dryer.

I was tempted by these washing tabs as they were cheaper than my usual brand, and looked as though they would be gentle to our clothes.
I however, regretted my purchase almost immediately. As soon as I opened the packaging the tablets crumbled all over the place; my worktops, the floor, my clothes, in fact they were a pile of crumbs before I was able to get them into the washing machine- what a mess!
Still, I decided to give them the benefit of ... ...really didn't perform well at all. The washing didn't have the satisfying clean smell that I get from my usual brand, and stains remained as evident as they were when the washing had gone in.

...years ago I first encountered Fairy , by trial and error for which my darling baby boy was a bit of a guinea pig I'm afraid..I came upon fairy as the only powder that his sensitive little skin would tolerate.
