Advantages Beautiful looking game.
Disadvantages Game designers heavily influenced by their crack addiction.

This game is rather difficult to review. As you have probably noticed the reviews are either very positive or foaming-at-the-mouth negative. However, from somebody who has a long history of playing FPS's, and has completed this game three times to date, allow me to give my interpretation of said game. After re-reading this, its actually amusing to watch myself degenerate into madness as I talk about the negative aspects of this game. FAR CRY 2 is an open-world first person shooter. It is created by Ubisoft and has an '18' rating from the BBFC with the content descriptors as 'Very strong language and violence'. FAR CRY 2 is set in Africa, a civil war has broken out and you're stuck right in the middle of it. You're a mercenary, you were working for 'The Jackal', the man that armed both sides in the inter-country war, but after catching Malaria and having him abandon you with minimal medicine, well, now you've been hired to kill him. Advantages Innovational game play, clever world reactions, excellent graphics
Disadvantages repetitive places

I don’t think it’s going too far to say Far Cry 2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. Yet apart from a few good reviews around the time of release, there wasn’t much of a fuss made over it. Which seems bizarre to me. A few friends have murmured some annoyances with the game design which make it repetitive it places – an understandable complaint, but they seem to have missed the other (fantastic) elements which make it brilliant. Advantages 50 squared kilometres of free roam space, wide selection of weapons, nice game length
Disadvantages Unrealistic weapon degradation, vehicle degradation, NPC AI and strength, barren game world

Far Cry 2 is best described as a missed opportunity. The 50 squared kilometres of the game world feel lifeless and barren, with absolutely nothing to do except kill NPCs at roadblocks or mission objectives, or simply wander around taking in the underwhelming landscape. The game mechanics are irritating, under-developed and unrealistic; the lack of realism being the main let down owing to how heavily this point was leant upon by the developers and game reviewers during the hysterical pre-release hype. Disadvantages Lost story and repetitive missions

Ubisoft certainly have a tough act to follow with the 'Far Cry' franchise, after German studio 'Crytek' blew our minds (and quite a few of our computers) with the stunning visuals and open world exploration of the original game it was hard to see how it could be topped especially by another developer. The short answer is that in many ways 'Far Cry 2' cannot escape the shadow of the original but taken as a piece on its own is a solid first person shooter. Advantages Stunning Graphics
Disadvantages Gameplay in general, Enemy AI, friendly AI virtually non existant.

I have owned this game for a few weeks now, and have had mixed feelings about it. At first, it seemed to be an excellent game, with intense graphics and intuitive, yet realistic, gameplay. However, after a few hours of gameplay, the flaws start to show. The vast majority of people you encounter will become immediately hostile to you, regardless of if you are working for their faction or not. While this means there is more action, it detracts somewhat from the role-playing experience.
