Advantages: lovely smell, hides other smells, cool bottle Disadvantages: none
Living in a box room, in a flat full of Sporty boys at University has its downsides. The smells for instance - the toilets stink and they leave their dirty, muddy washing everywhere (apparently they have no idea how to work a washing machine!) So in this situation my saviour comes in the form of a small blue spray bottle.

Procter and Gamble, the makers of Febreze, date back to 1837. The men behind the name - William Procter and ... ...candles and have come a long way since, making a big name for themselves with well known brands such as Pampers, Ariel, Always and Pringles. P&G describe Febreze (brought out in 1999) as a 'fabric refresher', for use when you want that little bit more freshness in your home. It can be used on rugs, clothing, bedding, curtains, sofa's, chairs and in the car to give the fabric a new lease of life and a fresh scent. HOW DOES IT WORK?

...cost around £3.29). You use Febreeze by spraying it over the fabric you want to remove the smell from, keeping the spray several inches from the fabric, until the surface is damp. The Febreeze then soaks into the fabric, and is supposed to clean away any lingering smell as it dries, leaving a dry and fresh smelling surface behind. Now, while nothing specifically recommends this spray for smelly carpets - it is generally used on clothes, stinky shoes ... ...is actually quite impressive, as Febreeze is not intending for such industrial strength usage, yet it still worked. The smell from Febreeze is surprisingly pleasant as well, I must say. When I first used it, I rather expected a heavy, chemically type scent like you often get from air fresheners, but it is actually a much lighter smell and extremely fresh and clean. I suppose the nearest you could get to describing the smell would be if you could ...

Advantages: pioneer in this new field of fabric freshner technology, it works! Disadvantages: It is no substitute for cleaning, price?
In today’s modern world and busy lifestyles there are a vast range of convenience products to make life easier and Febreze is just one such item. It claims to safely remove odours from various fabrics, upholstery and surroundings. I first came across this product almost 2 years and during that time have been able to thoroughly test, establish its efficiency, value for money factor for the consumer and hopefully form an opinion on the product ... ...launch back in 1998, I like many other consumers was intrigued by its claims that it can remove lingering odours from cooking, smoke, pets, or musty smells from clothes, sofas, carpet and so on. I was curious whether this new product would actually work? In a short answer, yes it works! I was curious about what it contains, how it acts and had many other questions. As one can imagine since the last 2 years there are other products on the market that ...

Advantages: Banishes unpopular household smells Disadvantages: It smells overpowering.
My bottle of Febreze is 500ml of odour neutraliser. So if your kitchen’s nearer to your living room than you might like, or if you love your dog/cat/lizard but can’t stand the stink they trail around the house, then Febreze is for you. I’ve seen the 500ml bottle retail from between 99p to £2.79 so shop around and don’t ever buy anything other than fags and the paper from Dillons the extortionate newsagent. On the back of the ... ...actual written instructions, so don’t use Febreze on silk, suede or leather but definitely use on checked rugs, ladies blouses, curtains, car seats and old fashioned 3 seater sofas. Also, keep out of the reach of children- where Febreze wil metamorophose into a square on a high shelf- spray 30cm away from the fabric, and it turns out that the pic of a tap under a big eye means 'If it gets in your eyes, wash with cold water'. Advantages: less expensive than other less effective methods, very effective, price is reasonable Disadvantages: price can vary widely, some people may ot approve of its manufacturer
~~~~Why I bought this~~~~ I am a big advocate of trying to discover what is causing the odour and cleaning it or getting rid of it to solve the problem. This is not always practical, or even possible in some cases. My first experience with Febreze came when we moved into rented accommodation. We were not allowed to paint, and the bedrooms and lounge had been freshly wallpapered anyway. Unfortunately, someone who lived there previously had smoked ... ...the still nice to look at carpets causing that familiar smoke odour. I put Neutradol on the carpet to no avail. We then shampooed several times and while the water came up less pitch black each time, it was obvious there was no WAY we were going to get all of the smell and its cause out. Friends and neighbours commiserated over our plight, swearing only a new carpet would do. This the landlord would not do. It was then that I saw an advertisement ...
Advantages: works well, effective, different varieties available Disadvantages: expensive, doesn't always leave things smelling as clean as I'd like
We moved house in June and it is only in the past couple of months that I have started unpacking the bags of non-essential things. These included several bin bags full of my cuddly toy collection, particularly my TY beanies. In total, I have around 375 TY products and they are valuable to me, in both monetary and sentimental value.
As I unpacked one bag, I was greeted by a horribly familiar whiff of cat pee! On further examination, I discovered ... ...are the little bears and other animals that look quite antique in their designs – but that didn’t mean I wanted them to smell like they’d been living up in a mouldy loft for ten years! Of course, the usual solution to finding toys that have been urinated on in this way would be to bung them in the washing machine. This wasn’t really an option with these though, as the water would irreparably damage the tags and as any collector ...
...still smelled fresh. The faint Febreeze smell had gone, but there was no beer smell, no smoke smell, and definitely no hint of the spicy curry or the anal eruptions caused by it.
Since then, its been used on a variety of smells - from getting rid of cat sick smells, to de-musting the winter coats, and even as an emergency freshen up of clothing before a job interview. Its coped well every time, although stronger smells need a few more sprays.
There is one thing that may be a drawback for some people - this ...
***The most common stenches***
Have you ever left a pub after a long night of partying and drinking, to find that your favorite coat just reeked of cigarette smoke and pub food? Have you ever sat on an over-crowded train on a summer day during rush hour and felt your sweaty armpits soaking your expensive suit jacket more and more by the second? Have you ever been out for a curry and felt your entire wardrobe had become a dish of chicken tikki masala? ... ...yourself unable to get rid off the smell of sweat from your gym clothes, even after several washes? Then Febreze may be the answer for you!
I've been on a quest to find a good way to remove odours from clothing. Partially I want to be prepared to have a 'smell buster' in the house when I start working and when I will be wearing a suit on a daily basis that will be liable to attract one or all of the above stenches some time during my career. Partially ...
Febreze has to be one of my favourite air fresheners. I love to use Febreze everywhere I can which is why I have such a strong opinion over this product. Febreeze antibacterial spray is an amazing product that makes any room smell gorgeous at the flick of a spray nozzle. It is great to use when you are cleaning a room or to target something that smells nasty and works straight away. Enter Febreeze spray, a freshener for fabrics all around the home.
It comes in a white plastic bottle with a blue spray nozzle at the top. It comes in three flavours, these being original, anti-bacterial and extra strength, and costs around £2.40 for 500 ml.
Advantages: No more wet dog smell Disadvantages: expensive
I shall start this op at the very beginning.
On Monday I decided to take our dog for a walk down the river. This is unusual for me as I usually just take him in the field behind our house. Anyway, the dog thoroughly enjoyed himself, jumping in puddles and a little paddle in the river. After around an hour I decided to head back home and what happened, the heavens opened and I got soaked and the dog was not just a little wet but a very soggy doggy.
... ...doggy and placed his little bed next to the radiator so he could dry off properly. While he was doing this I went to the school to collect the other animals, namely my kids. When I arrived home and opened the door I was greated with a very distinct odour of wet dog and the dog wagging his tail from the settee.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
Wet dog smell everywhere. I sent my oldest to the shop for an air freshner and to be double quick as ...
Advantages: Gets rids of nasty smells Disadvantages: The bottles are a bit dodgy
When I first went out and bought febreze I was very sceptical as to whether it would work or not, but I`m willing to give anything a try as my house can sometimes get a bit pongy. There are several reasons for this, firstly being that hubby is a mechanic, and with dirty oily overalls coming home every night and being thrown down on the floor in front of the washing machine, the smell of oil and grease does tend to linger.
Secondly, I also have a ... ...matter how well they are disposed of, always have a tendency to leave behind a bit of a whiff. Lastly, is the worst smell of them all. Anyone who has a bedwetting child will know that however much you wash, and no matter how many plastic sheets you have or how overboard you go with the air freshener, it is a very overpowering smell. It will just keep coming back to haunt you.
So, when I bought my trusty bottle of febreze, the first thing I did was ...
Yes, Yes, I did try it out when it first came onto the market a few years back. I must be a “new product manufacturers dream!” tee hee! But, I am still using this one, not the same can be said for some of the other new things I have succumbed to!
We have two motorcycle trials riders in our family and most weekends we can be found at some trial or practising somewhere. After a whole day of wearing a crash helmet one can only imagine how, errr..wet they get! Euch!! **UPDATED**
Fabrese Freshener is a useful product that can freshen up a household, a car or clothes. Most people use it for furniture and do not realize that it can be used elsewhere. (It is particularly useful for shoes and trainers.
Fabrese is a liquid that is sprayed onto fabric thus removing any odours and smells that can linger such as animal smells, smoke, food etc. It is very easy to apply. It leaves the fabric damp for several ... ...It works by neutralizing the chemicals that produce the odour, but it does not deep clean the fabric. The chemicals that are in fabrese will probably corrode the fabric effectively thus adding a hidden cost to the cost of fabrese (i.e. replacing the fabric).
For most household smells Fabreze is very good and leaves a nice pleasant smell for several hours. It does not eliminate the smell forever but can be useful if you have visitors.
