Advantages Advantages my sex drive has returned!

Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly sore breasts and some period pains, nothing major.

Ok, let me start off by telling you that I am an awkward Pill user. Up to date, I have tried 3 different pill brands, but always manage to find something wrong with them! Microgynon gave me headaches, Mercilon made me think I was pregnant, Loestrin affected my sex drive (in a bad way), so I'm hoping that Femodette will be the pill for me! What is Femodette? Femodette is a number of combined pills that contain the hormones oestrogen and progestogen. These hormones prevent you from becoming pregnant, as they trick the body into believing that it is already pregnant. How does Femodette work ... more

Advantages Advantages No Weight Gain, No head aches, LOW DOSE pill, LESS side effects

Disadvantages Disadvantages Breast slightly tender and achy, a few breakouts, spotting has occured

The last time I tried any birth control related tablets was 7 years ago, I went To my G.P to ask for something that would help with my periods (as they were very heavy). She was awfully quick to recommend I go on the pill (aka) Birth control in other countries. She prescribed me what all the other girls were started on and of-course costs the NHS a very minimal amount. The pill was called Microgynon, after 2 months use I had bloated from my usual size 10 and was heading on to a size 12. Every day at 6.30pm on the dot I would be scheduled with an awful agonising headache! To the say the least I ... more

Advantages Advantages Effective contraception, Regular periods, Drastic decrease in discomfort during periods.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slight breast achyness, slightly more emotional/sensitive

Femodette is both the first oral contraceptive and last oral contraceptive I have tried, so I cant really offer a comparison, but I can tell you about my experiences with femodette specifically. FEMODETTE Femodette is a combined pill, which basically means that it contains a combination of oestrogen and progesterone. The hormones in the pill work by over-riding the normal menstrual cycle. "Ethinylestradiol prevents the ripening and release of an egg from the ovary. Gestodene works by tricking the body processes into thinking that ovulation has already occurred. In addition, gestodene affects ... more

    Advantages Advantages 99% effective contraception

    Disadvantages Disadvantages mood swings, acne

Femodette was the first version of the contraceptive pill I ever tried, and it's often given to first timers like myself because it contains roughly equal amounts of oestrogen and progesterone. There are two types of Pill, the progesterone-only pill and the combined pill, which is more effective. Most women are prescribed some form of the combined pill but don't realise that the progesterone:oestrogen ratio varies greatly between brands. About a month after starting Femodette I started to notice certain changes in myself. Firstly I noticed that, although I had come through adolescence ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to take, Easy to Understand instructions

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A few spots

I've been on more than 10 contaceptive pills since I was 15, mainly because the side effects of each pill effected me badly, and unfortunately two types of pill failed to offer me protection what-so-ever. So I tried Femodette... I've been on Femodette for over a year now, and I can honestly say that I've never felt better (compared to how I've felt taking other contraceptive pills). So far, I've had no severe side effects and no babies and I feel good in my self. Femodette is a combined pill, which means it contains both oestrogen and progesterone. Femodette contains both these hormones in ... more

3 Stars Quick review of Femodene Contraceptive Pill by Lyns7 19/12/2008
Hey everyone! I'm more looking for some feedback rather than giving at the moment. Im on day 11 of Femodette and i've broken out in really bad spots all over my back and chest, but not my face, how odd?! Has anyone else experienced this? I know it takes longer than 11 days for the pill to clear any spots, but i'm certain im getting more every day!! Other than that i'm feeling ok on this, maybe a little down and breast tenderness, but nothing major. Any other pill ive had (mercilon, yasmin, microgynon) has made my skin amazing, i've just ... more

Advantages Advantages Shorter periods, lighter periods and no kids till I want them

Disadvantages Disadvantages Headaches, mood swings and changes in weight

You will have to bare with me because I might have to add a few bits to this. Before I was on femodette I was on microgynon 30 that was the first pill I was on and I struggled to swollow it and it didn't agree with me I also got pregnant on it so after my son was born I decided to stay off the pill for a while and the after about a year decided to go back on it and the doctor said about femodette. So when I went on femodette about a year and a half ago now I was really suprised that it suited me more. I was told that I would have to try different pills but I've never had a problem with this ... more

Advantages Advantages Lighter, less painful periods, no pregnancy, bigger boobs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Taking back-to-back can lead to spotting, breast tenderness

I was given Femodette after deciding the first pill I was put on, Microgynon 30, wasn't working. After being on Microgynon 30 and having a non-stop period for all the time I was taking 1 a day, it was a pleasant surprise when Femodette stopped the periods more or less straight away. Whilst taking this pill, I noticed my periods were much lighter than they would've been had I not been on the pill, and the pains, which were normally agonising (without even exaggerating), were greatly reduced. I hardly felt them. I don't think I gained weight while on this pill but my boobs did go up by about a ... more

Advantages Advantages Stopped my mood swings / light periods / regular periods

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stopped for 3 months and after starting again, regular spotting

I started taking Ovranette when I was 17, and found after 4 months I was getting terrible mood swings. I finally figured something might be wrong when I cried for hours as my Dad had taped over an episode of the Simpsons (!!!!). Plucked up the courage to go to the doctor and change the pill. Since being on Femodette I have had stable moods, and have had light, regular-to-the-hour periods. I have now been taking it for over 4 years and am happy with my choice. The only disadvantage I've had is I stopped taking it for 3 months and then started taking it again and had irregular spotting for the ... more
