Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, cheap to insure good looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Injectors do tend to go and depreciates quicly

I have to totally disagree with the previous persons comments. I have had 5 Fiats since i started driving and three of them have been Bravos. The styling is fantastic, there is nothing like the Bravo, it is in a league of its own. I commute approximately 500 miles a week so I need a decent car for me to be able to do this. It handles brilliantly, very responsive steering, and is very nippy too, I have no problems on the motorways! I find the drive very comfortible, you can also adjust the steering column and the height of the drivers seat. It is always good to find a decent garage, the only ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent styling, fuel economy and emissions.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Narrow rear end means a small back window and reduced boot space.

I have recently purchased the new Fiat Bravo 1.6 Eco diesel. The eco referrs to the fuel effiency and emmissions that some new Fiats have. Firstly the fuel effiency is quoted by Fiat as 65 mpg on the combined urban/extraurban cycle. Although the Eco is good, I have only managed low 50's, however that is still extremely efficient. A tank of diesel so far has averaged at about 550 miles, pretty good. The real bonus of the Eco however is the low emissions. With C02 emissions of 119ppm the Eco is in only the second category which means none of the recently introduced forecourt tax and at current ... more

Advantages Advantages Frisky Engine, Nice Looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad Build Quality, Depreciation

I bought this car as my 2nd car. I made the jump from a 1.0 peugeot 106 to the 1.6hlx Bravo on a 2001 Y plate. I was so excited and paid quite a lot of money for it at the time (2003) It had all the kit i wanted, the little body kit that comes witht he HLX package, full electrics, alloys etc. I was a very proud boy! after a few months though my thougths of the bravo quickly changed. After 17,000 miles the starter motor went quickly followed b the clutch. After 19,000 the cam belt went and my brakes failed. It was always in the garage and i was getting fed up of it very quickly. I finally sold ... more

Advantages Advantages Quite nippy and smooth

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rather dull and boring

I had a Fiat Bravo 1.6 for a while and it was a very competent little car. It`s not hard to see why they are so cheap though - they are fairly ugly at the front - that was apparent when they first came out. Not as ugly as the Brava though which depreciated even faster. Basically, you get a car which is nearly as good as a focus but for a lot less. I paid a few hundred for mine and it had done low miles and had a years MoT. The only difference between this and the Brava is the lack of doors - also the Brava has an extra bit on the back end which makes for a bigger boot. There isn`t a great deal ... more

4 Stars Quick review of Fiat Bravo 1.6 by nikolacarter1983 13/07/2007
A great little runner, has poke when you need it and gets you out of a tight spot pretty sharpish. A few things are renowned to go wrong like the electrics and the drivers airbag light constantly on which means it wont deploy properly in a crash but this is due to a fault in the electrics running to and from it, a great all round car that last a long time, I've just had to replace the clutch, the brake disks and pads and 4 new tyres but it wasn't as expensive as you think, only trouble is if you ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Lookin' and Nippy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad Reputation (somewhat understandable)

Its been exactly a year now since I entered the world of FIAT. There she was a P reg green fiat bravo with 73000 miles. Bargain I thought at only £1250. I was right. Bearing in mind, my last car was a 1.0L Nissan Micra, the Bravo was a joy to drive, with smooth gear changes, and good (ish) fuel consumption. With the journeys I have to drive its good, but no so good around a town centre. There were some bad vibes going around the family about my new car, mainly from my dad. 'Don't buy a Fiat son, you remember your mums old cars!' he used to say. She used to have a Fiat Panda and a Fiat Uno ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable, economical, nice appearance!

Disadvantages Disadvantages ermmmm, I haven't found one.

Manufacturer ~~~ Fiat Model ~~~ Bravo 1.6 sx I currently own this model, And have been very satisfied ever since. It give's good performance, good fuel consumption, as I use mine to commute at work, I find it economical. It provide's a smooth drive and very comfortable. The Interior is easy to maintain and cleap clean. You get all the mod cons which you may require eg Power steering, Electric windows, electric sunroof, tilt steering wheel, airbags, good sound system, which you can upgrade to a cd player which i did for a reasonable amount of money. It has a nice smart but practical appearance ... more

Advantages Advantages Great styling, quick, fairly cheap to insure

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Injectors, Injectors, Injectors.

I've had three fiats now, an uno, punto and bravo and by far the bravo is the best. Great styling all round, quick for a 1.6, nice gear change, great handling, i have the top of the range HLX model and it's definately worth getting as it's only a bit more expensive than the SX model, it's got very comfortable seats (heated front), nice alloys and generally great. I would recommend this car to anyone as long as they know how to use a spanner. Injectors are by far the biggest problem, some dodgey sensors aswell but nothing a bit of DIY can't sort out. Parts can be fairly expensive but cheap if ... more

Advantages Advantages fun to drive, responsive, good handling

Disadvantages Disadvantages has an unwarranted bad reputation

I have run Fiats in the past and they have always been reliable. So when the Bravo first came out I naturally had a look at it.I liked the shape and particularly liked the rear light cluster which shows up as 2 red rings which are quite striking.Just because you like the look of a car is no guide to how it actually is, so I took one for a test drive and was sold on it.It was very nippy and responsive, satisfied that I had made the right choice I bought the 1.6 SX. The only real problem it has ever had came after 13 months when the CPU failed and the car lost power , gauges, etc. It is now 5 and ... more

Advantages Advantages fast and nippy car especially the automatic version. It is very economical on petrol.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not happy about the spare tyre if you had a puncture. Not a car for longivity

I purchased a fiat bravo 8 months ago, from a reputable car dealer. The car began to give me problems within the first month, which was unusual for a new car. My previous car was a rover 620sli which within the two years gave me not one problem. I contacted the main dealers of the fiat bravo to obtain some clarity as to the fault. The main dealers gave me the run around and caused me great stress. I had to leave the car for a month until someone would take me seriously. The problems which occur with these cars are the 'calipers and shoes'. I eventually had to repair the car myself as no one ... more
