Fiat Seicento Suite
-------------------------
I found a Silver sporting model for sale in Dewsbury, which was asking about £2000. Then I saw a silver Suite parked up in a dealers just a few streets away from my house, I had a good look round the car and also again when the dealers opened ... ...this is just imagination, or Fiat have built in a system to the steering to make it so. Although I would have thought this would only be available on more expensive models of car.
The engine has decent power for the type of car too, its not going to win any drag races against GTI's so don't try. If you do, chances are you will blow the head gasket which can be fragile if the car is thrashed. Although there is a recent aftermarket "Spesso" gasket ...

...been rattling around in a Fiat Seicento Sporting and by now I know every small inch of the car. That is mainly because it is so small, I take up most of the room in it.
But while I have had a good run in the car, Im still lost as to where Fiat have cleverly hidden the "Sporting" part that its name suggests!!!
So let me explain why. Firstly, it is dog slow. Sitting under the bonnet is a noisy and somewhat underpowered 1.1 litre engine. Saying that, ... ...service it yourself very cheaply. Fiat are not too expensive either.
Failures?
Since I have been driving it, It has needed a new exhaust system (£200) and a new set of shocks on the back as the suspension collapsed on the rear right hand corner. (£140). All in 2 months on a 5 year old car with only 25,000 on the clock!
Would I buy one if I had the chance?
No. However I am thankful that work let me borrow it while mine was off the road.

...I didnt choose my fiat seicento, nor had any intention of having one until my current seat ibiza failed its mot and was too dear to repair and basically not worth it so it was scrapped. Thus began my search for a new car. As a student I am constantly poor and wasnt expecting to get much when my cousin offered me his seicento sporting for free! A day later, I heard back that it needed, a complete new exhaust system, a new gearbox, new clutch, new front wing and a new tyre. On top of that, the inside was absolutely disgusting with mould popping up in places and the seats covered in stains that i did not even want to know about. It was right about then that i considered walking away but i realised i needed a car badly. As i have read from over 20 people moaning ...

I own a 1999 Fiat Seicento Sporting, and have owned this particular car now for 8 months, before it, i owned a cinquecento sporting for a year. and i am a member of the owners club, so this is my review of near 2 years of 'cento ownership and living with the car and its quirks.

I bought my second hand Fiat Seicento in April 2007, at 9 years old, for my first car. My car is a 1.1 Sporting Abarth edition which comes up upgraded alloy wheels, bodykit and abrath interior. It is a nice 'ferrari' red colour, which is a lot less of an eyesore than the yellow version!

The leather steering wheel is nice and a good size, and complements well with the leather gearknob. There are what looks like carbon fibre panels on the dash which gives a nice sporty feel to the car! My only problem with the interior is the seatbelts... the work fine, don't worry, but the are very very slow ...

...my dad bought me the Fiat Seicento (1999-W-Reg) as a present for passing my driving test, I was over the moon. At the car dealers, I tested out the seat and remember feeling slightly put off by the 'manual' looking clock and speedometer as nothing was digital, but I wanted a newish car that wouldn't have me associated with the boy-racing Ford Fiestas of this world, nor the strangely square older cars such as the dreaded Robin Reliant. ...and chose to look at Fiat due to there being a local main dealer that offered good finance deals. Having been cornered by the salesman I was beginning to feel pressured into buying a car there and then. ...I've had my Fiat Seicento for under 3 years, and as some may notice, I've bought and reviewed the peugeot 206. This is because I got fed up of the uneasy ride and the fear that a 40mph crash could fold the car up like paper. The brakes are light, clutch very low, and the seats are uncomfortable. I had this car as my first ever car, and was very happy with it...probarly for the best part of a week. Advantages: Gorgeous nippy little italian designer car, plus affordable! Disadvantages: It will fall apart from day one - a complete waste of money
I bought a Fiat Seicento, brand new from an official dealer, because they were gorgeous cars, good to drive, fabulously priced. Unfortunately I discovered the hard way that you get what you paid for. I dont mean drips - I mean I lived with towels, buckets, huge handfulls of paper towel sellotaped to the roof, and yet still ended up sitting in a smelly musty car with a wet a*s on a regular basis. After several trips to the garage and sending it in for work a couple of times (after which they always said "thats fixed it"!!) nothing had worked, and the garage told me that was all they could ...

Finished in custard yellow it looked small, not entirely without charm. Neat alloy wheels at each corner. Overall a pleasant mini sized car. But this is no world beating supermini if this car were a person it would be Little Jimmy Krankie, irritating, annoying, trying to be clever when it isn’t.
Sit in the drivers seat and there is a neat curved dash, simple chunky buttons and neat easily readable instruments. The front seats are reasonably ... ...need to be very young, have very short legs or suffer in appalling discomfort. A long journey could put you in danger of deep vein thrombosis.
This would be all very acceptable if the blessed thing wasn’t so awful to drive. The 1.1 Sporting I drove recently promised far more than it ever delivered. It bounded into play like a 40-a-day smoker due to tennis with Anna Kournikova but a lot of enthusiasm soon evaporated into the reality of wheezing ...

...mixed with the fact that Fiat parts arent cheap, this was a problem.

I have owned a Fiat Siecento SX for nearly a year now. I used to drive a Peugeot 205 GTi before that, so I was expecting a change! I'm actually very impressed with the SX's performance. It is not the quickest car off the lights, but for a small car with a small engine (though 1.1 litres for such a small car is not bad) it gets up a good motorway speed and the acceleration is better than i expected. I have no idea what the "sporting" version is like, ... ...joking. I think that the Fiat Siecento is probably one of the smallest cars on the road, which is good for tight situations. But not shopping. Me and my wife are the only users and we keep the back seats down most of the time so that we have space for the weekly shopping, or luggage etc. When passengers sit in the back, though (with the seats back up, of course), they don't complain and say that it is a comfortable enough ride.
The Fiat Siecento ...
