Advantages Advantages Different settings, occupies baby

Disadvantages Disadvantages singing the tunes all day long

This was given to my son at Christmas when he was nearly 6 weeks old. It has been the best toy for him so far other than giggling at me and his dad. Age Suitability ----------------- This gym is designed to be used from birth till toddlerhood. I don't honestly see it being much use in the very early weeks when babies barely open their eyes and everything is interesting (our stair banisters were a particular favourite to watch when Adrian was a few weeks). But once your baby is becoming more alert you can place him/her under the gym and set it to an automatic mode where it plays tunes and ... more

Fisher price sparkling symphony gym Imagine this a 3-4 month old baby lying on a mat on the floor, a happy baby lots of smiles and gurgles. Erected over him is the fisherprice sparkling symphony gym. The gym is brightly coloured, He kicks out at a dangling moon and sun, they move and music plays he stops to listen and then his arm bats at the star and he gurgles happily when it moves and plays Beethoven. He is excited now both arms bat out at the danglers and Sparkling sound effects are played he chuckles with delight and hits it again and again watching the movement of the dangling moon, sun ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of different activities for the growing baby

Disadvantages Disadvantages Yes, more batteries to be bought

Before I go into the features of this toy I will explain a little bit about the parts that are included and the assembly of it. The parts are the main body of the toy, two yellow attachments, four blue coloured legs, a sun shaped rattle, two shooting stars, a moon shaped attachment with holographic design, a star rattle and a mirror effect star with ribbons attached to it. To assemble you simply attach the yellow parts to either side of the main body and screw them in with the chunky plastic screws provided. You then attach two blue legs to the yellow parts. To finish you attach the sun, moon ... more

When my fella said that we were going to get my little babe a new toy to play with,I got really excited. That meant that we were going to TOYS R US. Now being a big kid myself (age 25 ) I couldn`t wait to see what great toys they had to play with. Now to be honest I was a little dissapointed because there wasn`t really a wide range for 2 months old, I had expected there to be more. One thing did catch our eye though and that was the FISHER PRICE SPARKLING SYMPHONY GYM. On the box it said from birth upwards and that it has 3 stages which are, lay and play, sit and play and also stand and play ... more

The sparkle gym first came out when I was pregnant with my third child and I oh so wanted to get it for her but after my house was crammed with lots of various gyms, playmats etc I decided not to bother so when I found out I was expecting my fourth child I immediately sent dear hubby out to get it. It was very simple to assemble, took around five minutes and only a couple of screws were used. It is very appealing in its looksas it has bright blue chunky legs( a bonus when you also have a toddler on the loose!!), the main keypad is white but the star shapes above the musical keys are pink, blue ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite costly

I bought the sparkling symphany gym when charlie was just 5 weeks old, he was too small to actually hit the swinging characters to make the music come on, but you can switch it on manually and the music plays and the lights flash. Charlie had just learned to smile and this has certainly been exercising his face muscles, he loves it! As Charlie grew older, this gym certainly helped him develop his hand-eye co-ordination. He loves to hit the characters and the music makes him laugh. There are around ten different nursery rhymes played on this, and the music sounds of a high quality. As well as ... more

Advantages Advantages Encourages child to reach out for thing - improves hand eye co-ordination.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Clips could be more user friendly

My mother bought this baby gym for our son (under strict instruction from me!) as a birth present. I liked the idea that it was multi-functional and would adapt easily with your growing child and therefore be excellent value for money. We started off with the top section the baby gym fixed to the side of our sons cot, but found that he wasn't really interested in it as it was too high for him to focus on properly, as it only attached to the top section of the cot. We then decided to re-attach it to the legs and have our son laying under the hanging play items. He wasn't really surewhat to do ... more

Advantages Advantages Endless possibilities for play and amusement

Disadvantages Disadvantages Ribbons on star toy are not attached securely and should be removed.

This activity gym is suitable for your child from birth up until they are a toddler. From birth your baby lies underneath the gym and it has a variety of functions: On the first setting the baby has to bat the toys forwards in order to start a tune (a single melody is played). On the second setting you can either set the tunes going by hitting the toys or as soon as the baby hits the toys the gym will play tunes continuously (until it reaches the end of all the tunes). Baby can watch the lights flash in different patterns while the tunes play. You can also play the lights buttons like a piano ... more

    Advantages Advantages Long lasting toy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Is a bit bulky

At £34.99 this is one of the more expensive baby gyms around but it is well worth the money. It is suitable from birth until 2/3 years and is available from Argos, Mothercare and Toys R Us. It has 5 bright coloured keys on the keyboard section which light up when pressed and a "magical" star which plays twinkling sounds. There are two volume settings to minimise parental annoyance! In the baby gym position, a sun, moon and star shape hang from the main section to encourage babies to reach out and grab them. You can select one of the music settings to play a few notes of one the songs (a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages the songs can grate on you after 18 mnths

I first saw the sparkling symphony gym at a friends house when al was just 4 weeks old. I lay him under the lights and music and he was there for nearly 40 minutes quiet as a mouse and perfectly content. In summary of the product it comprises an arch with 5 piano like chunky keys that light up, a bar which suspends 3 dangly things (supposedly a sun, moon and star but i'm dubious) and a magic button which makes lovely twinkly noises. Size wise its about 2 foot wide and stands about a foot tall. You need to assemble it yourself but its so simple even your husband could do it! Price wise it's ... more
