I do suffer from the whole cough/cold/throat virus fairly often, and unfortunately not just at this time of the year. It seems to be some vicious circle of first a sore throat, followed by a heavy cold and then the norm with me is finished off by a chest infection which causes more coughing hence making the throat sore again..I'm just so lucky to have never been bed bound like my husband when he has fallen *ill* with man flu so things could be worse..! Fisherman's friends - Errrgghh! That's what I first thought many years ago when I first tried one of these lozenges, and it is still the reaction that I often get today when a friend asks me what I'm eating, and I tell them it is a Fisherman's Friend. I have always enjoyed sucking on a Fisherman’s Friend. I know a lo of people really don’t like these but I like to eat them even if I don’t have a cough or a sore throat. I can never have more than one at a time though because they are very strong and there have been times when I was younger when I have had to spit it out of my mouth because it has been so song, but I think that as I have got older I have become more tolerant. I get these now in a tin with the bag inside the tin but years ago they used to come in very strong little paper bags, which were quite hard to get open. I have never ... more

I remember Fisherman's Friend sweets from when I was younger, and either these disappeared or I just wasn't looking in the right places for these anymore, but it is only from about 6 months ago that I saw them again and of course I was able to buy them again. These used to come in thick paper kind of bags, but now they come in a box which has a bag inside. This is alright, but the wife doesn't like the bag, as she usually puts any throat sweets into her bag, but she has so much things in there that the bag ends up getting creased, crumpled and inevitable ripped in places and the sweets fall ... more
