As my pump was getting old and was really too small for the pond, I decided to buy a new one. Having already installed a Fish Mate UV+Bio Filter a year ago, which I have been very pleased with, I opted to purchase a pump of the same type. I chose the 4000 which has a maximum flow of 835 gallons an hour, has an anti-clog filter design, has superior wear resistance and reported to have low running costs. It also has a fountain set with four options. ... ...pump I set to to install it. It was very easy to do, but I did make the mistake of not checking the size of hose required when I purchased it and discovered that mine was too small. I was cross with myself as I wanted to get it set up that day, so I would advise anyone buying this particular model that they make sure they have a 1" or 1.1/4" bore hose.

TRY getting spares for this pump then think again. tried nearly every where and get the same answer.WE can not get spares from fishmate for these/there pumps.
So pray your pump does not go wrong,but at least make sure you have a back up ...

Re spares - just got a refurb kit for 18 ukp (inc p&p)..
This pump has struggled in my pond.
It gets clogged up really easily, grit gets into the impeller and it wears out the cheap plastic. I replaced the impeller twice under guarantee and then I was advised to get a pre-filter on it so I tried a kitchen scrubber.
This worked but got clogged up quickly (I have a dirty pond!) so then I tried a covering the whole thing in a washbag i.e. the ones you use to keep small items from getting lost in your washing machine - works a treat. Takes a lot longer to clog up and stops the algae from getting in to the system never mind the grit ! ...
