    Macromedia Flash has reached its fifth edition, having become a tool that has been wholeheartedly embraced by the web community, although when used badly it can cause the most mild mannered of people to become irate and curse its very invention. I would not advocate overuse of Flash if you prime audience is going to be people with a very low bandwidth connection, because Flash eats up bandwidth.     Macromedia Flash 5, or Flash for short, is a software program that creates Flash animations for the web. It retails for around $400 or there abouts. Many websites are adopting Flash as the ability to fast generate impressive presentations and other graphic are endless with it. Many websites are entirely Flash dependant.     I first started using the Internet in 1995, and compared to today?s websites most were unimaginative to say the least. As time went on I noticed websites getting more and more sophisticated utilising different web technologies. The websites that I thought were most attractive and interactive contained Macromedia Flash. Whole websites can be designed using Flash, although it usually is just a segment of one page that contains the Flash.     Disadvantages Disadvantages need to spend a little time to get to know him.

    To be a web designer these days, you have to know Flash. Like Photoshop was a couple of years ago, it has become the web creation package of choice for everyone who's anyone in the web design world. And that includes me. Hehe. Never before has it been so easy to create such striking effects, and Flash, when you become more experienced with it, offers so much more than fancy animation effects, and is now used to create whole sites in.     When I first used Macromedia Flash 5 I was pleasantly suprised how user friendly the package was, considering it did look very complicated when I first opened the program. After followig each interactive lesson included in the package I was able to create simple but effective animation sequences within minutes. The screen consists of a canvas (work area) which can be adjusted to suit user preferance. At the top of the screen is the timeline, which is a grid used to store each frame of the animation.     Have you used Flash yet? No? Where have you been! We are up to Flash 5 now and it is simply the answer to all of your animation and graphical needs. The best thing about FLash nowadays is that its being incorporated into more and more systems so that you dont need to go off and download any plugins anymore. In the not too distant future, you wont be asked to go off and download it as it will be part of your browser. For those of you who already make and have websites originally in HTML, JavaScript, or XML, you will already be acquainted with such wonders in which the web can work.
