“Summer in the City”

Small and inexpensive

Small and inexpensive

Space, the Final Frontier The great thing about small gardens is that they are easy to maintain. They take the occasional Saturday to tidy up and can still produce a bit of veg, some nice colour and a small patch of grass to kick a ball around. And with the joys of summer just around the corner...

Flymo Micro Lite Lawn MowerSo we are finally in our new house and for years of living in flats without a private garden or with a courtyard garden we finally have a nice bit of grass to be able to do with as we please. However this of course does man that we need the correct tools to maintain the...

Because of the work my dad does we've got about 6 mowers, but when one day I decided to go a bit mad in the garden I realised I didn't know how to switch any of them on because they all looked majorly complicated. This was last summer and I was determined to cut the grass myself because I'm the...

Question: What have a small electric hover mower and a land-speed record attempt in common? Answer: “Fodding”, i.e. the search for, and removal of FOREIGN OBJECTS that might cause any DAMAGE before the activity in question. Like most owners of a suburban “semi”, I have two gardens, one at the...

light weight for ease of mowing, easy to clean

Although when I moved to my present house a simple lawn mower wouldn’t suffice (more like a couple of cows, looking at the state of it) my family and I soon knocked it into shape as we decided the only thing to do was to completely dig the entire garden over, level it out and lay new turf...

“That time of year again”

Very easy to use

None so far

Yes, its that time of year again… I recently managed to pluck up the resolve and willpower to turn a jaundiced eye on my back garden and more exactly my lawn. (Or should that be unkempt patch of misshapen lumps and bumps and hummocks of grass?) The nagging mistress of the house finally got...

Not suitable for larger gardens.

….and let me play among the stars! Now spring is here, it’s time to start thinking about clearing up the winter debris in the garden. My most hated job is cutting the grass, but it’s a task that must be done if you want to see outside past the forest of blades! I usually try and nag my husband...

Perhaps hard work for long grass/large gardens

As a lone lady with a lawn, the Flymo Microlite is absoluely ideal for me. Childhood memories of seeing my dad dripping with sweat as he laboriously pushed a massive mower round the lawn left me with the impression that cutting the grass was a difficult job! However, since purchasing the...

Bad cutting

No matter how small you piece of grass at home, a little mower makes no difference than a big mower. Its all about the cut quality you get. Sure, if you have 20 Sq ft of grass in your back garden, a huge 7 gang Tractor driven unit is not going to benefit you. But buying this, miniscule mower will...

I was looking forward to using my new compact lawnmower. But I was in for a disappointment. When I got it home and opened it up it was in lots of bits. There is a booklet with detailed instructions but you needed to be very nimble fingered to do the job. It took me 2 hours to assemble it. Phew...

“The smallest mower”

published 12/07/2000

Light and easy to use

Not suitable for a large lawn

I needed to buy a mower for my Mother's tiny lawn when her old one gave up the ghost, but had no idea which one to buy. I looked round all the DIY shops and as she was soon to be moving to a flat, I didn't want to spend too much. Eventually I decided on a Flymo Microlite. It was relatively easy...

I wanted a small mower that would mulch the grass and be easy to store by hanging up on the wall in the garage. With a name like Flymo which I have found ok in the past,I decided to buy the microlight.Putting it together was easy,I then realised the cable could not be detached,if there was a...

Not for me

published 29/06/2007

very very disappointed! bought this for our very small garden to replace our old qualcast hover. My wife has only used it twice and really hasn't made a good job of the lawn at all!! Seriously it really is useless! if i can find the receipt I will take it back to the shop and demand money back! Don't waste your money.
