Summer in the City Review with images

AdvantagesSmall and inexpensive

DisadvantagesSmall and inexpensive

"...small budget should be needed. The Flymo MicroLite fitted our needs perfectly. At a little over £30 and the smallest of the Flymo range, it fits in our shed perfectly. Flymo are probably the best known manufacturers of electric garden equipment and their lurid orange, plastic bodies make them obvious from a mile away. Just because they are the best known doesnít, of course, make them the best but it does mean that as I purchased it I knew that ..." Read review

~Freshly Cut Grass with the Flymo Micro Lite~

Advantagescheap, lightweight and good results

Disadvantagesnone really

"...I am quite accustomed). This Flymo Micro Lite was not only cheap yet also small and light weight so seemed the perfect purchase as we are short on funds as it is and of course who needs a super chunky lawn mover especially when the area of grass we have is not overly massive. We have both a front and back garden and the front has approximately 6 -8 square meters of grass and the back is in stages with around 30 square meters in total there. ..." Read review

Flymo to the moon.......

AdvantagesCompact and easy to use. Two cutting heights. Light and foldable.

DisadvantagesNot suitable for larger gardens.

"...be returned, we purchased a Flymo hover mower. ~~~WHY CHOOSE A FLYMO? We chose a Flymo because they are good brand name that we associated with gardening products. They are a well established company and parts (and accessories) are easy to get hold of. They also have a helpline to contact in case of trouble; Iíve never had cause to use it, so I canít comment on the waiting times or customer service. ~~~OUR MODEL. We chose a Flymo Micro-lite ..." Any Colour You Like As Long As It's Orange

AdvantagesLightweight, very manoeuvrable, cheap. Blades easy to change.

DisadvantagesNot a precision cutter by a long way! Blades easy to damage!

"...a petrol mower, also a Flymo hover job as it happens, but the front, despite being the widest garden in the street (we live on the inside of a curve in the road) isnít that big. It certainly doesnít justify the steam-hammer of the petrol mower to crack its own particular nut. Iíve always got along just fine with an electric mower of some kind. However, having the grand-daddy of all magnolia trees* in the front does make using a Ďunidirectionalí ..." Read review

No bovver wiv an hover

Advantageslight weight for ease of mowing, easy to clean

Disadvantagesnone

"...B&Q I opted for the Flymo Micro Lite, priced at £39.99. This mower is bright orange (I suppose so that you can find it in your shed full of junk!) and weighs in at a mere 4.5kg. It has easy fitting plastic blades, 2 cutting heights which are easily adjusted underneath the body of the mower, 1000 watt power output and a 12m cable which is more than sufficient if like me you have a small garden, as there is no need to hunt down an extension cable, ..." Waste Of Money

AdvantagesLight; Easy to put together; Adjustable handle height

DisadvantagesDoesn't cut the grass very well; Has trouble on lawns that aren't dead flat

"...the big song and dance Flymo make about the Easi-Reel Cable Storage because all that means is you wrap the cable round the handle and a little clip keeps it in place! It works and stops the cable dropping down and getting all tangled up but it's nothing spectacular and definitely not a selling point now I've seen it in action! One plus point is that the mower is definitely light weight and I was able to use it pretty easy, mind you it's ..." Read review

That time of year again

AdvantagesVery easy to use

DisadvantagesNone so far

"...midsummer mishap. It was a Flymo but it was the type with a large grass box. I used to like it, but Mrs dave27, she of the fearsome and quarrelsome disposition always reckoned “I never thought it worked very well.” We set about looking for a replacement and eventually espied nother Flymo, this time one without the cumbersome box. I decided on the Turbo-Lite 400. It appealed to me because as well as cutting the grass the goodness would ..." Read review

So light that it does not cut

AdvantagesSafe, light

DisadvantagesBad cutting

"...in a beautiful shade of Flymo Orange. It takes up a very minute amount less space than its bigger brothers in your shed such as the power mowers from Black and Decker and even the bigger Flymos. In fact, they make one model almost exactly the same size as this one but with Metal blades. Plus points would be its weight. While I do not condone children using mowers, it is light enough for smaller adults to use. People who may have difficulties ..." Read review

Flymo mMicrolite - lite by name light by nature

AdvantagesLight, small, easy to use

DisadvantagesPerhaps hard work for long grass/large gardens

"...lady with a lawn, the Flymo Microlite is absoluely ideal for me. Childhood memories of seeing my dad dripping with sweat as he laboriously pushed a massive mower round the lawn left me with the impression that cutting the grass was a difficult job! However, since purchasing the Microlite I would say, from a strenuity point of view, it's on a par with vaccing, but with the added bonus of that lovely cut grass smell. I was immediately surprised and ..." Read review

The smallest mower

AdvantagesLight and easy to use

DisadvantagesNot suitable for a large lawn

"...much. Eventually I decided on a Flymo Microlite. It was relatively easy to assemble, with two cutting levels and plastic cutting blades. They didn't look strong enough to cut her lawn which was now about 3 inches high, but to my surprise it plouged into it with gusto. The mower is light to manoevre and glides effortlessly across a small lawn although I wouldn't recommend it for a large garden. The plastic blades are adequate when the lawn ..." Read review

Trigger Happy!

AdvantagesLight and easy to use; Triggers in the correct place;

DisadvantagesOnly useful for small gardens; Assembly quite difficult.

"I was looking forward to using my new compact lawnmower. But I was in for a disappointment. When I got it home and opened it up it was in lots of bits. There is a booklet with detailed instructions but you needed to be very nimble fingered to do the job. It took me 2 hours to assemble it. Phew!! It would be better if it came already assembled. Now I still had to mow the lawn. This is when I was pleasantly surprised. The triggers were in the exact ..." Read review

A waste of money

Advantageslightweight,cheap to buy,easy to store

Disadvantagestrying to cut grass is a pain, does not hover enough

"...the garage. With a name like Flymo which I have found ok in the past,I decided to buy the microlight.Putting it together was easy,I then realised the cable could not be detached,if there was a problen in use you would want to disconnect the supply quickly,so not a safe point to start with. However when I tried to cut grass I was very dissapointed, the machine uses plastic "blades"that would only cut at the edges,so you are attempting to cut hollow ..." Read review
