Advantages Advantages some good new features

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be slow; no great strides forward

After my review of the final offering of the SI and Eidos partnership it only seems fair that I now turn my attention to the successors to the throne. The last time I set about reviewing a Championship Manager game it turned out to be an epic experience and highly time consuming. This time I am going to try and make it a more concise experience so I apologise if it doesn't contain the same level of detail as my previous effort. ** Background ** The Championship Manager series has been around for over 10 years and proved to be a very successful partnership between SI Games and Eidos Interactive ... more

Advantages Advantages Something to get you through the pain of life

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes away what life you have left in you

When, next year, I fail my degree I will be able to point to numerous problems, missing deadlines, being half unconscious during lectures and a distinct inability to convey a message properly, but the one enduring problem is this game. Football Manager 2005 is not just a game, it is a full on addiction, as much as you want to resist as much as you try to do work every time that computer goes on, there it is, the icon of dreams. Many of you reading this will be unaware of football management games, so this will undoubtedly mean very little to you, but Football Manager 05 is the ultimate, just ... more

    Advantages Advantages Absorbing and addictive

Disadvantages Disadvantages You may lose large chunks of your life to playing this

“OH we are the tractor boys Oh we are the tractor boys” is the resounding chant as Docpov makes his entrance as the new manager of Ipswich Town FC. The fans are wary and not in full agreement about my appointment, being an obscure rookie. My credentials are not up to much and many fans are not happy with my appointment. So it is up to me to make sure that I can get them onside with good results and show them I am up to the job. It is going to be a daunting task, the first time I look at my computer I am faced with screen after screen of facts, giving me details of every facet of my new club ... more

Advantages Advantages Addictive, You feel powerful, Good additions

Disadvantages Disadvantages You may feel ashamed after realizing how long you're playing

I grew out of playing games quite some time ago, back in the day when Sega Megadrive's were still the rage and Sonic 2's Day was the highlight of the gaming calendar. However there is one kind of game that has got me hooked and continues to consume insane amounts of my time. That game is Championship Manager or as this latest version is called - Football Manager 2005. Having played Championship Manager 4 for quite some time it was a very addictive game but one that could be improved upon. I'm glad to say that the maker's have added little bits and pieces to this new incarnation to fuel your ... more

This is the best way to describe this game. Football Manager is the follow-on from the ever popular Championship Manager Series. There is a bit of confusion in recent times because the partnership of the 2 companies that made the CM Series split and they have both developed their own game ... more

Advantages Advantages The Best Out There!!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Editor Takes 2 Long!

THE LEGENDS RETURN After buying Championship Manager 03-04 I was literally gob smacked! That game was just the best management game ever and it had everything that you could possibly think of to do with Football Management, well how wrong you and I were. With the game I got a leaflet advertising Football Manager 2005. From the screenshot looked exactly like Championship Manager but with a different toolbar, I wondered why the creators of Championship Manager, Sports Interactive (SI) were advertising a new game and I soon found out. SI had teamed up with Sega to release a new football ... more

Advantages Advantages Very playable, realistic, stats galore

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very addictive....

Firstly, this game should really carry a health warning, in big letters, on the front of its case. The 'level of addiction' in the game status screen usually makes painful reading; the makers have decided to show the player exactly how long they have spent playing their current game, usually greeted by the user with a nervous chuckle (every time I check, there seems to be an hour added to the clock). Well first thing I should mention, is the bleedin' obvious. This is a football game, best suited for football fans. Most football fans will love this game; you can play as any one of around 5,000 ... more

Advantages Advantages Just a great game really.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Chelsea have too much money and Arsenal have Henry!

£12 on Amazon can go along way, and it will go even further if you decide to spend it on Sports Interactive's current realease- Football Manager 2005 (PC). After all, that £12 buys you not just a game, but a life-style. You'll be paying not simply for a data filled CD, but for a complex addiction, a need…a yearning for success, a need to accomplish yourself as one of the true greats in the game…a need to be better than Paisley, Shankley, Ferguson and Ramsay- a need to win. I assume that one current group of supporters agreeing with me here are Newcastle United fans, and this game is made for ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of teams, realism, extremely fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages ermmm maybe a little too addictive

Football Manager is the management game from the devolopers of Championship Manager. The game code was originally from Championship Manager but has been improved, and this part of the reason why this game is better than Championship Manager 5, who's developement team had to make up a new code from scratch. *Sound* 3/5 There is hardly any sound in this game other than the crowd chants in game which are very realistic and change in sound level and type of chants for different games. For instance chanting will get very loud when a goal is scored and in European matches you often hear the really ... more
