Advantages: A great update to the best management game ever made Disadvantages: Depth could put off new or casual players
Football Manager 2009 is the latest in the long running management simulation series. These games come along like clockwork once every year, and like past instalments this version offers new features, upgrades and tweaks, to get the series one step closer to virtual management nirvana. The good news is that for football management enthusiasts this remains the definitive title to pick up. The class Football Manager formula has hooked the devoted and ... ...are numerous other improvements in Football Manager 2009 in addition to the match engine, but nearly all are welcome. Tactics are now even deeper, and potentially more mind boggling, but for the devoted this simply allows them to get everything tweaked exactly right. Getting the right mix of players that work well together, individual instructions (you can now tell players to stop doing certain moves, or encourage them to work on new ones), and general ...

Advantages: Great level of detail, fantasticly addictive and satisfying to play Disadvantages: Your family may forget you, tedious if your not 100% into it
...when the game is called Football Manager?' In 2004 the creators of the game, the Collyer brothers, split with their publisher Eidos. Eidos however retained ownership of the brand and continued releasing games under the name 'Championship Manager'. I bought the first of these, it wasn't so good, which was a shame as it did look like a lot of work went into it. So the series was essentially renamed, rebranded and published by Sega under the new name ... ...Collyer brothers had created. Football Manager 2005 came along with, as you would expect, even more features. More press interaction, better match engine, more player options and pre/post match summaries being just a few of them. 2006 and 2007 versions advanced a little and introduced XBOX and PSP versions. I tried these and they're just not as good as the PC versions as so much had to be left out and the control method wasn't as intuitive. 2008 ...

Advantages: Very addictive game and expand your knowledge of football. Disadvantages: May take over your life.
Football Manager 2009 is a life like football managerial game. This year’s game is the best yet and the all new 3D pitch gives the game the edge over its competitors.
After playing many football games including, Champion Manager 2009, PES 2009 and FIFA 2009, I firmly believe that football manager is the best by a long way. Football manager 2009 is a new era of managerial gaming and is as close as many of us will get to manage a football club. From ... ...negotiations etc football manager 2009 offers it all.
Another realistic aspect of the game is the transfer prices and contract wages, also the fact that your club can get taken over is a bonus as well as you can get approached by national teams or other club teams that are interested in your services.
This game has vastly expanded my knowledge of the beautiful game and is extremely good at predicting which players will be big in the future. There ...

Advantages: 3D match engine, all players in the world are available, better than LMA manager Disadvantages: Sometimes strange results like team in 1st place being beaten by team in 24th
Football manager 2009 has continued the football manager series with the same features and layout of the game as the past versions, but this time features a new 3D match view. The game has many good features that would make me more willing to buy this game over the biggest competitor, LMA Manager 2009. Firstly, the game can be installed very quickly, and you can choose the countries and the leagues who wish to play in, or buy players from. For example, ... ...you can do so by only entering the English leagues to play in, however if you then in future wanted to play in another countries' league(s) you would have to hope that that country or club makes you an offer to manage them. If not you will be stuck with only being able to take over teams in the country that you have selected. Many fans of the game will take over their local team and try to lead them to the premier league and beyond, before the game ...

Advantages: Great Game With The New 3D Engine And Other Improvements Disadvantages: 3D Engine May Not Work On Lower End Computers
Football Manager 2009 is the annual follow-up to the 2008 version, and well let me just start by saying that this sis one of the biggest updates ever. Yes, the time has finally come for the introduction of the 3D match engine, and let me tell you, life is good. This has been one of the major issues with the football managers of the past, as many couldn't really 'feel' the match when watching it played by a bunch of circles, although admittedly I ... ...leap in terms of the football manager games, and help makes this a more absorbing game, allowing you to get a better feel for the players and any matches you play. The game will make you cheer, make you groan, but it will also provide you with hours of enjoyment. If you are anything like me, then you won't be able to get enough of this, and your addiction will either begin, or it will continue to thrive. Well done SIG Games, another great addition ...

...huge depth that has made Football Manager the market leader in the football managing genre.
So...is it still the best??? Well this is always going to come down to the individual person and their choice but if you stick at it and get used to the new developments you appreciate it more and more and see how fantastic the small improvements really are. Advantages: 3-D match engine, game updates itself Disadvantages: poor matchday sound and some items still need to be updated
In my opinion FM09 has taken all the good things from Fm08 and made them even better. The game also has new features such as the new 3-D match engine which is an execellent addition to an already brilliant game. Another new feature is the inteviews from the press to you the manager which take place both before and after games. This adds to the realism of the game and can help you to understand the pressure that real managers are under every day. ...

Advantages: still addictive, huge database Disadvantages: 3D engine glitchy, much harder to play, injuries problem
Another football manager settlement, but this one was full of expectations. I first saw the trailer and I was eager to play this game with the 3D match engine. When it finally came out, I was kind of shock how the game has been transform to. Firstly, the 3D match engine was suppose to be the finest new feature in FM 09. I agree is beautiful to watch the 3D guys running around but only if you computer CAN support this 3D acceleration. Don't think ... ...you ran FM 08. It require a much faster PC to be able to correctly run this feature. Multitasking merely become impossible for me. The application take too much memory usage and it will lag my other tasks. The loading time is also a problem. Every time I start a game, it takes about a minute to set up the match engine. For certain players, such as me, like to setup the tactics while playing the game, but it appears that there is also a loading time ...

Advantages: the sheer size of the game and options available Disadvantages: can be complicated to the beginner
Football Manager 2009 is very addictive game where you control almost any professional football team you can think of, as well as many others. The Football Manager series has been a very successful series where a new version is released every year for each football season. Every year there are changes to the game. Some years the changes will be small and some years they will be bigger. This current season of Football Manager sees a total of 51 countries ... ...up to date and there is a massive 350,000 odd real players in the game. New for this season sees a 3d match engine which is pretty accurate although there is a lot of work to be on this. But for a first year and the amount of programming that must have to be done it is a very good effort. The tactics are as variable as ever. Some may even think there is too much and it can get very very specific. Even choosing where every player in your team should ...

Quick review of Football Manager 2009 (PC)
The latest in a series of Football Management games from Sports Interactive. Personally i have always enjoyed the FM series, and this years edition is no different. Theres new features and all the olds ones still there too. Parent and Feeder clubs is still a great and important tool. The graphics are good, although still no photos for premiership teams. The new and biggest feature is a 3D match engine. For me this is a great benefit, and has really imrpved the game, if however you like the old 2D one, well thats still there too. ...

Advantages: Great 3d match engine, interaction with managers. Disadvantages: Installation is complicated, bugs.
Being a big football manager fan, I got my hopes up when hearing that Football manager 2009 was going to be released and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The gameplay with the new 3d match engine is better than ever, the new interaction with press conferences and player interaction is superb. If you want to play against friends and family fm is great for this. I have had many great experiances with this game trying to challenge for the top place ... ...It doesnt come without negatives however there are a lot of bugs on the game which does effect gameplay ( although fm have released a patch for this) , the tactics include more variables than before which takes a lot more time to master. However overall this is a good game, and you will get easily addicted even if you arent much of a footy fan. Enjoy!!! ...
