Restoring a Capri is likely to be an expensive business as many parts will need refurbishing and there is a lot that can go wrong with a Capri, but scour the classifieds and you'll manage to pick up a bargain as cheap parts do occasionally pop up. I am a bit bias of these but i will try my best to be fair, honest and proactive in my approach. Lets get it straight from the start if you require Air con, Rear seat comfort, good mpg, quiet running etc Do Not Buy This Car. But if you require pure grunt and power this is a must, they made several Capri's and this model was for me 2nd best as 1st place has to go to the Mk 1 RS 3.1 GXL these are the bees knees when it comes to power and head turning, ...

A car without a doubt worth owning if only for rhe "fun" factor and getting that back end out on it, the 2.8 is without a doubt the most powerful, packing more horse power (however slightly less torque) than the 3 litre special. i have just bought a 1986/87 capri on a D reg in a bit of restoration but the engine has only done 2990 miles as i've got the documents, mot etc to prove this and when i took the car for a test drive it was nout of this world nice, sleek and i only paid £500 been stood for at least 10 years it also has the car phone and it is an ex-demostrator for ford in berwick-on-trent with 3 owners from then. i will recommend a ford capri to anyone. ...

Always loved capris but they arent without theyre faults, look great and certainly turn heads on the roads. The back ends tend to fishtail a bit too much especially in the rain, putting a bit of extra weight in the boot tends to solve this problem, very fun to powerslide though. Its speed still rivavls modern cards today with 0-60 being as fast as 6 seconds with a little help.
