Advantages Advantages Fast, Sounds Great, quality ride.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Finish and use of space

I originally bought my T Reg Ford Cougar 2.5 V6 for £9995. I kept it for around 2 years and replace it with a family car. I drove around 30000 miles in this car without any serious problems and without breakdown. It only went to the garage once and that was only to have a recall done on it that the Mondeo v6's had done. As far as looks go the Cougar has taken a lot of stick in the past. I thought that at the time it was one of the very few with good looks and that edge over most other normally priced cars. The sleek lines and curves made it something to look at even if it was a Ford. The ... more

This opinion has stemmed from a dreary Thursday morning, whilst on a visit to my mothers, upon arrival pops announces, “ my alternator is up the swany and when you’re got five minutes do you think you could change it”. So me being me, the lovely chap that I am said yes of cause. (I mutter to my self you always want something you old fart). Anyway, after three hours lots of swearing, skinless knuckles the alternator is changed and then the delightful old fellow produces a light bulb for his car, and with a big smug smile on his face, says while you at it can you fit this as ... more

Advantages Advantages Value, Practicality, Performance, Feel-good factor, Running Costs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Body panels difficult to find when required. Cougar specific parts expensive from Ford

I have owned my V6 Cougar for 20 months. Powered by the Ford Duratec V6 it produces 170bhp and a near flat torque curve from 1500rpm. This means it pulls like hell from about 1200rpm and doesn't let up until the 6750rpm limiter. The car uses Ford's Quadralink rear suspension incorporating passive rear wheel steering. This makes the car seem to the unfamiliar as though it's sliding sideways - it isn't. It can produce phenominal grip. Handling is excellent with perfectly neutral slippage of both axles on the extreme limits. Very low speed ride is a little bumpy as per any car built for body ... more

Advantages Advantages Eye-catching and sporty, fast, nice interior with many extras

Disadvantages Disadvantages Tyres and some other parts expensive/rare

This a great modern car I have been posession for for just over a week. They still look modern and sporty almost 9 years after their release. I have the X pack with comes with leather interior and extras such as heated seats which are pleasant an bitterly cold winter mornings. The Cougar makes people stare, and I'm not exaggerating - they are still head tuners and their rarity means a lot of people don't actually know what they are. Ford should have retained a lot of this styling as it is great. To drive the car is fast and handles well. It isn't a sports car in the sense that a Porsche is ... more

Advantages Advantages Not sure about fuel consumption but everything is excellent

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not known so far

I've just bought a Ford Cougar V6 2.5L, 2001 model and has done 49444 miles. When going to the car dealer, I had no idea what to buy, when I saw the Cougar, she immediately impressed me by her beautiful appearance, the outside looks perfect and very sporty, when sit inside, it was even more impressive with leather seats, airbags, sun roof, sporty leather steering wheel, gear knob, dash board...too many good things to mention. I then asked to take it for a test drive, and I found that the performance was unbelievable, very responsive and powerful, road handling was excellence, accelerating was ... more

Advantages Advantages nice looking ,comfortable ,delivers the power

Disadvantages Disadvantages back seats are not suitable for tall people

Ive had the ford cougar 2.5 v6 duratec since dec 06. ive found its agood car as long as there is only two to travel because the back seats althogh there is plenty of leg room. there just isnt the head room.So if u have anyone above average hight they will end of with a sore neck. The bucket seats in the back do look nice and are comfortable for the shorter people among us.This car does tend to drink the fuel when going about town but on the motorway it sits nicely at high speeds and the 170bhp that it produces allows for a good time on the 0-60 side of things. The linterior is well designed and ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast big and fully loaded

Disadvantages Disadvantages Petrol consumption and badge appeal

The car is individual looking, fast and full of toys to play with from full leather to heated windscreen. You won't be one of the crowd in this car its looks are very different to most cars on the road but its not an ugly car. The preformance of the V6 is excellent you have a large amount of power all over the rev range and is happy purring round town or charging down the motorway. The build of car of not as good as a german marque but is up to normal mass production cars. Overall the car is a great multi tasking tool happy as a classy wining and dining cruising the town type of car with the ... more

    Advantages Advantages speed and performance

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none(badge)

I have owned my Ford V6 Cougar from new. Powered by the Ford Duratec V6 it produces an impressive 170bhp, (which helps to pull away form those boy racers at the lights) This means its got plenty of shove from about 1200rpm and doesn't let up until near 7000rpm!! The car uses Ford's sophisticated rear suspension which means pecision at every corner and a good ride for a sporting car. It can produce tremendous grip in the corners to and this means the car can be driven to the limit. Comfort is very impressive to, probably because this is a yank tank where comfort is prioritised. I'm always ... more
