Finance the other half of the car

...time I have had 3 Ford Fiesta’s. My first car was an old ‘W’ reg which was pretty basic but a good runner that rarely let me down and was inexpensive to insure and repair. I then had an E-reg model that was slightly better but still your bog standard car. In 2001 I bought a newer style P-reg and again it was a decent little ride. My 5-DR model has electric windows, central locking, cd player, air con, heated mirrors and a heated front windscreen. The 1.4 engine has some decent kick on the highway and handles ...

Advantages: Cheap to run, insure and maintain Disadvantages: A bit basic
The Ford Fiesta was the very first car I ever owned after passing my test in the early 1990’s.
I was restricted in what I could buy by the very high cost of car insurance, as they were looking for nearly the price of the car again simply for the privilege of driving it on the road.
So I had to settle for a small car that would be both cheap to run and to insure.
I have actually owned two Fiestas
The first was an old 1984 model with about ... ...Fiesta.
I went to a Ford Main Dealer on this occasion, and purchased a two-year-old car with a slighter bigger engine (1400cc). This cost me £4,500, and the garage gave me a trade in of £500 for my old car, which was more than I actually paid for it.
The new car was a little beauty, with a far easier five-speed gearbox, a good radio/cassette player, and far more nicely finished inside.
I lost a little on the mileage with the bigger engine, but ...

...I bought my 1992 Ford Fiesta Freestyle 1.4 CFi with only 45,000 miles on the clock. The bodywork was tidy and the interior was bright against the black dash. ...as you would expect from Ford the road handling is near perfect. I think the fuel consumption was alright for a car of this class.
On this version of the Fiesta you would expect a fiver change from 10k, and in my opinion you do not get a lot of car for that money. I find it hard to believe ford have not included ABS as standard. I've always driven fiesta, and although I never mean to end up with one, I always seem to! This is simply because it's one of the best little cars you can get. It's reliable, easy to drive, quick, relatively cheap to buy, insure and keep in good nick.
This particular model, the 1.4 is great. I've had a fiesta with a smaller engine before, and it really stuggled to get up hills, but not the 1.4! It has very economical fuel consumption, so that will save you a few £s.
