Advantages Advantages Reliable, very economical, quick enough even for longer journeys

Disadvantages Disadvantages Ride too firm, handling too twitchy, not as many toys as you might expect

(This is a review of the 2004 model, before the 2006MY facelift.) The new-edge styling still looks good, and it's a practical shape. I still take issue with those big "cute eyed" headlamp lenses, but most small cars have them these days, Interior The interior is upholstered in beige, which looks nice enough, but clashes horribly with the bright blue exterior, and tends to show scuffs and marks easily. Seats are firm. There's room for six-footers. It's comfortable enough for long journeys. Spec includes: * Heated "Quickclear" windscreen * Rear parking sensors * Front fog-lights (never need em) ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap to run, great fuel economy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no ABS

I have owned this car for a little over a year and a half, over which time I have done about 20k. When I bought it, it had just under 30k and it recently hit 50k which is just under average for its age. I have had only one problem with it in that time, this being a leaking coolant pump which ford fixed on warranty. OVERVEIW The car is basically just a smaller, cheaper Focus, and runs exceptionally well. I have pushed my car to the limits, running it on very rough roads, up extreme gradients fully loaded and over great distances with few stops and it never let me down once. (the coolant pump ... more

Advantages Advantages Good little car, Good Fuel Consuption. V Cheap road Tax.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Absolutely attrocious mechanical reliability.

In one line, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! General overview = I purchased my Ford Fiesta with only 6000 miles on the clock. For the next 2 years, I had perfect, trouble-free driving, withthe exception of the engine cutting out at 70 MPH on the motorway, as the fuel heater element (built into the fuel filter) had shorted out. I put this down to an unfortunate one-off, however, as an engineer, I consider the design to be a poor one, as no one individual electrical system (bar the ECU) should EVER cut an engine out. How about a generic failure caption instead? Power Steering failure 1 = The main ... more

Advantages Advantages Value for Money, Fuel Consumption, Very Reliable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Would Recommend the 'Facelift' Version (Better Looking)

In my opinion, the Ford Fiesta is the best hatchback around, better than the Vauxhall Corsa, the Suzuki Swift, the Citreon C2 or the Renault Clio and any other competitor. For the price you can get one for today, it is a steal. Outstanding value for money and with it being a Ford, it is very easy to get parts in case you damage it at all. It's not biggest car and fitting the weekly food shop might become a struggle at times (depending on how much you have) but inside, it is surprisingly spacious. I currently have the 3 door model which i am really happy with and looking to buy the newer ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, good spec, handleing, good motorway drive

    Disadvantages Disadvantages not many(if any)

I like my Fords I have had 3 a focus and two fiestas and never had a problem (best touch some wood now) at all this is the third fiesta I purchased. I bought the fiesta to replace a fiesta, which was the last of the old generation; I purchased the car for my wife who travels a long distance daily at least 60 miles a day. The car she had before was a .25 zetec, which were good but not that good on fuel it being a small engine pounding the motorway was quite thirsty so I opted or should I say I advised we get a diesel. I have a diesel focus zetec and it is great on fuel, having had the car for ... more

Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.4 TDCi 5dr Background I have owned my 2004 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi since it was 6 months old and have traveled at the time of writing (OCT 2007) 25000 miles though the car has done 30000 in total. The car lacks in one area, which is acceleration, however, this does not detract from a 5-star rating because if you're purchasing a diesel at this price point you should be doing it for the excellent economy - not for super fast performance... The Drive The car is great fun to drive, and surprisingly nippy round town, the handling feels safe and secure and corners neatly. It is not a ... more

    Advantages Advantages almost everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages speed bump problems!

This was my third driving instructors second car (i've driven a few!) and this is the car i passed my test in. It's a beautiful design and he had the 5 door blue one. I think the design features for this car are better than my car (peugeot 206 - as my handbrake is over the passenger side and people have to move out the way so i can get it) and the handbrake in the fiesta is at my side. The gear stick is a little further forward than mine but thats not a problem I just had to get used to it. The dash board is a bit confusing as theres lots of buttons and features, but as I was only learning in ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap to run, Zetec handles really well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit plasticy inside, can get rattly.

I have a 2002 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCi 5dr in red. Over 60MPG, very low insurance and cheap tax. Beware of the first batch in 2002 that didn't have the CO2 tweaked so yours paying £120 tax when the exact same car released months after is only £35 a year to tax. Very annoying! The Zetec has superb handly and most of the time feels very nippy with good pull in higher gears on motorways. It seems a lot nippier than it's 68HP would suggest. I fill it up once a month and I'm driving about 25 miles a day to work and back and pottering around at weekends. The car has a couple of annoying rattles ... more

Advantages Advantages Economy, Value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the highest performance

I bought one of the first diesel Fiestas of this shape back in 2002. I chose it because I liked the looks and it was in my price range. Right from the start it met my expectations: A nice chunky interior that doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't, handles extremely well and has proved very economical. i get between 55 and 60 mpg (Accurately calculated, not from a trip computer), equating to 450 miles per tank. The engine is poweful enough for the car, although you're not going to shine if someone challenges you at the lights unless you cen get the revs to around 2300rpm, where a lovely surge ... more

I bought this little ford number back in march, Its a fun little car that just wants to go. From the outside it looks like a smaller version of the acclaimed Focus, its looks are not too bad. The engine is Ford new TDCI which is basically the same engine thats in the 206 and C3, it very responsive and lively, fuel consumption is as you would expect very good, it is also cheaper on tax and insurance. Inside, the equipment you get is more than ample, air conditioning, twin air bags,IPS, EM, electric windows a excellent audio system leather wheel . There is plenty of head room i'm 6ft 2. I've not ... more
