Advantages: Reliable, very economical, quick enough even for longer journeys Disadvantages: Ride too firm, handling too twitchy, not as many toys as you might expect
...with the Ghia spec, the Ford accountants were trimming features to save cost.
=== Driving === Handling is good; but the ride is quite hard and the car can feel quite twitchy, which I find annoying, and the kids complain.
The engine is not the quickest, but it's the only diesel available on the 2004 Fiesta (the 1.6 came later).
To be fair, it's quick enough for most driving situations.
There are occasional overtaking maneuvers that I wouldn't ... ...do better than it's 68hp would suggest.
You can tell it's a diesel, and I mean that in a good way.
Generally, this car offers a relaxed drive. The gearing is fairly high for a car of this size (28mph at 1,000rpm), so at motorways speeds it's less than 2,500rpm; but I can pootle about at 30mph in top gear too.
=== Reliability === Reliability is good; the heated windscreen failed early on and wouldn't clear on the passenger side (at first I thought ...

Advantages: cheap to run, great fuel economy Disadvantages: no ABS
...a leaking coolant pump which ford fixed on warranty.
OVERVEIW
The car is basically just a smaller, cheaper Focus, and runs exceptionally well. I have pushed my car to the limits, running it on very rough roads, up extreme gradients fully loaded and over great distances with few stops and it never let me down once. (the coolant pump leaked shortly after purchase and has been fine during these extreme conditions)
ENGINE
The 1.4 TDCI engine runs ... ...just under £6K from a Ford main dealer and depreciation has brought it down to just over £4K which is quite a lot, but I'm not planning to get rid of it any time soon as it has so far been a great car to run. I have had a great experience with it, and I'm over 6' and dont have any problems with headroom or driving position whatsoever.
I thoroughly reccomend this car to anyone looking for a ford, they are truely excellent cars in my opinion. ...

I purchased my Ford Fiesta with only 6000 miles on the clock. For the next 2 years, I had perfect, trouble-free driving, withthe exception of the engine cutting out at 70 MPH on the motorway, as the fuel heater element (built into the fuel filter) had shorted out. I put this down to an unfortunate one-off, however, as an engineer, I consider the design to be a poor one, as no one individual electrical system (bar the ECU) should EVER ... ...very difficult situation. ...£200 to £280 at the ford dealership so in the entire car is cheap to run.
The car also has dual airbags and a good standard ford alarm for the safety and security concious, which I believ should be the standard norm these days.
I would recommend this car for anyone needing cost efficient motoring with its great design and flawless economics and standard compared to rivals I would choose no other.

== Ford Fiesta Ghia 1.4 TDCi 5dr ==
=== Background ===I have owned my 2004 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi since it was 6 months old and have traveled at the time of writing (OCT 2007) 25000 miles though the car has done 30000 in total. The car lacks in one area, which is acceleration, however, this does not detract from a 5-star rating because if you're purchasing a diesel at this price point you should be doing it for the excellent economy - not for super ... ...Purchase Price ===While the little Ford is not as cheap to buy as some others, it's good for what you get. They lose value quickly from new, but then depreciation levels off, so as long as you avoid a nearly new car, it should make financial sense. I paid £8500 for mine 6 months old which considering it was the Ghia was good deal. At the time of writing then I could probably get £5k-6k trade-in. The local dealer keeps telling me that the diesels ...

Advantages: Cheap to run, Zetec handles really well Disadvantages: Bit plasticy inside, can get rattly.
I have a 2002 Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCi 5dr in red. Over 60MPG, very low insurance and cheap tax. Beware of the first batch in 2002 that didn't have the CO2 tweaked so yours paying £120 tax when the exact same car released months after is only £35 a year to tax. Very annoying! The Zetec has superb handly and most of the time feels very nippy with good pull in higher gears on motorways. It seems a lot nippier than it's 68HP would suggest. I fill ... ...miles a day to work and back and pottering around at weekends. The car has a couple of annoying rattles from the slightly cheap interior build quality but there are a nice number of storage compartments and the cabin feels pretty good standard. Seats are comfy and there is plenty of room in the car. I am 6ft 2 and my left knee does sometimes rub a bit on the sharp corner of the dash by the heater controls. If you had a spare few hundred to spend ...

Advantages: Economy, Value for money Disadvantages: Not the highest performance
I bought one of the first diesel Fiestas of this shape back in 2002. I chose it because I liked the looks and it was in my price range. Right from the start it met my expectations: A nice chunky interior that doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't, handles extremely well and has proved very economical. i get between 55 and 60 mpg (Accurately calculated, not from a trip computer), equating to 450 miles per tank.
The engine is poweful enough for ... ...challenges you at the lights unless you cen get the revs to around 2300rpm, where a lovely surge of torque gives it a real pokey feel but it runs out of breathby the time you reach about 3500rpm.
Quality-wise it is probably above average. i had a couple of niggles with squeaks and rattles, that have apparently been fixed since mine (an early build) arrived.
Practically, it is excellent: 5 doors that open fairly wide, a good rear seat folding arrangement ...

Advantages: economical, fun to drive, comfortable, lots of head and leg room Disadvantages: remote hatchback, smallish boot space
I bought this little ford number back in march, Its a fun little car that just wants to go.
From the outside it looks like a smaller version of the acclaimed Focus, its looks are not too bad. The engine is Ford new TDCI which is basically the same engine thats in the 206 and C3, it very responsive and lively, fuel consumption is as you would expect very good, it is also cheaper on tax and insurance. I've not sat in the back yet but friends tell me its very comfortable with lots of leg room. Drivers position is good, there is plenty of alround visability with no major backspots.
The fiesta is responsive thru the gears except when you pulling away from a stop on a steep hill, this is where it struggles, 2 to 3 gear can be annoying as it sometimes does not want to go in. Driving at ...

I chose to get a Fiesta for many reasons, some of these were because i actually like the new shape they have now. My family weren't really ford lovers but we stumbled across the new style Ford fiesta LX 1.4TDCi while surfing on the net. It appeared to have everything that we wanted and more... Quick review of Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi
I have had my Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.4 TDCI for about a week now and I cannot complain. I know a week isnt that great a period but after my old car I can tell if a car is worth its weight. Mine is a 52 plate and has everything I could want, cd player, air con, central locking, electric windows etc. I find this newer version of the Fiesta far more spacious than my old R reg fiesta and cannot complain about the boot space, for a small car I think the boot is ample, its not intended to be a family sized boot. I have high hopes for the mpg as I have gone down about a bar and a half and done 130 miles so its looking good. Great car!! ...

This is a fantastic little car. Excellent value for money with the zetec model. The zetec climate is worth getting for the air conditioning and the heated from windscreen. Ford Fiesta 3rd generation had its premier in car salon in Paris in autumn 2002. Its rivaling for 1st place in small cars class with cars like Skoda Fabia, Citroen C3, Nissan Micra or Mazda 2.
