Advantages Advantages Comfortable, sporty, high quality, affordable.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rear visibility, economy.

When my finances took a turn for the better, the first thing on my shopping list was a new car. I have owned a limited number of small hatchbacks, though they have all had small engines (1.1-1.2 litre). I wanted something with a bit more power and I immediately narrowed my search down to a very select few models. With my budget in mind and my requirements being met I decided to take the plunge and treat myself. The car Ford have been making the Fiesta since 1976, so it is clear to see that they have had success. The Fiesta has always been a popular choice, with its compact proportions and ... more

Advantages Advantages Sporty Looks, good equipment, fun to drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages Long lead times, ECU faults.

When I found out from my employer that my new job would require me taking my own vehicle out on the road, doing in excess of 150 miles a week I decided that my 306 petrol guzzling cabriolet would not, by any means, fit the bill. If you read some of my earlier op's, especially the one about myself, you will see that I have a passion for sports and performance cars. Even taking my own personal car out on the road for work would never cause me to compromise on having a car that I liked to drive and loved to look at! I knew that I wanted something reliable and preferably new so that should (touch ... more

The fiesta st has two modes - the gear you are in, and the ones below. I've had mine now upto 1500 miles and at first i was a little annoyed. Running the car in it felt a little tight, like it wouldn't open up, i just wasn't sure what it was trying to say to me. I couldn't stand it any longer and at 800 miles i had to surpass the 3500 rev limit i set myself and take it up to 5000. These brief little nips into the higher rev range gave real food for thought. Sure it still felt a little tight, but on the edge of 4500 - 5000, as i hovered for at most 1/2 a second, i felt something stirring. I was ... more

You can take the ST out of Essex ........ As an ex-Essex boy myself, I completely understand the need to drift off into the bygone days of `go faster stripes` and `giant oversized spoilers` so it was no surprise really that when Ford released their greatest hot hatch since the XR2i, I would immediately be on the phone to my bank manager asking for an extended overdraft facility on my exhausted bank account (enjoying the motoring puns yet?) No need however, as I was able to quite deftly haggle my early 2006 Fiesta ST down to a pretty reasonable price from Ford and although it’s fairly high ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Cheap thrills, practical, easy to afford, you won't destroy the environment

Disadvantages Disadvantages not too fast and involving as some of its competitors. Thats it

Expectations are a car company's worst nightmare; you slave for years creating a new brand with fresh values in the hope of attracting new customers. Then all you read about your pet project is how great the old car was. It is a bit like going home to your mum's and being constantly reminded how lovelier your little sister was. In the case of the Fiesta ST, it's a bit irrelevant, too. After all, those who bought XR2s back in the eighties and nineties are driving much better cars. As with everything in this crowded class, looks are important. Its all very well having a hot Fiesta, but if its ... more

I have had my ST now for two months now, it is black with silver side stripes (not the overhead ones) and black leather and red cloth, on a '07' plate I've done 1200 miles at the moment. When I was running the engine in it seemed very tight, but now after giving it a hard time it has loosened up and also sounds a lot better too. To get the best performance from this car and the 0-60 time of 7.9 secs you need to use all of the rev range. This car kicks in at 4500 rpm and keeps performing all the way to the redline. Sometimes driving like that can make the engine sound coarse, but the engine ... more

This review is mainly for the female readers which understand all of the car jargon you generally find in car reviews! Well this car, I must admit didn't really appeal to me at the beginning, it was my partner that fell in love with it and persuaded me to agree to buying it! I had a VW Beetle and my partner had a Vauxhall Corsa, and we decided it was a waste having 2 cars, when one car would be sufficient. So off we went to the car dealers, where we just couldnt decide on any car's until he saw the Fiesta ST and literally got on his knee's and begged me! So off we went on a test drive and I ... more

Advantages Advantages Speed, power, performance, reliability, and grip!

Disadvantages Disadvantages The front lights resemble something a little less sporty!

Fast, comfy and most importantly reliable. Forget about the price at this time. If you missed the fun and raw power of the xr2i then this is the new and improved xr2i, only difference being, this model is better. The Fiesta remarkably resembles a mini ford focus only smaller and more compact. Don’t let this discourage you into thinking this is a wannabe Ford Focus, because its not, it’s a new breed in itself. The car has such great grip on the roads that it seems more a challenge to loose control than retain it. The price ok, not the cheapest and you would have to strongly think this decision ... more

Advantages Advantages Well specced for the price, great cornering, looks great.

Disadvantages Disadvantages ECU faults and, erm, nothing!

The Fiesta ST is a great little car, pulls well and surprisingly isn't that bad on fuel (I was expecting 200 to a tank but got regularly more with motorway driving.) It's not a car that I think you can commute in everyday, trust me I tried it for nearly three years with day to day motorway driving. It desperately needs a sixth gear, but that isn't to say that it's always a bad thing. Because it revs high, about 3.6k at 70 you always have power. After about 4k is when the engine is most impressive and starts to pull well but becomes noisy too. Cornering is impressive, and always stays flat but ... more
