    Advantages Advantages Spaceous, Excellent Handling, Low Insurance Group, Comfortable and Stylish.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Has the family stigma attached to it which does not do it justice.

    I apologise now if I get too enthusiastic in describing this car, but I think the details will do it justice. The Ford Focus Zetec is in the higher end of the model range and often comes with uprated extras over the base models. My particular car came with what Ford call the 'Climate Pack'. This is a handy combination of air conditioning, heated front windscreen, heated mirrors and heated washer jets. These gadgets can seldom be appreciated in the warmer months, but are an absolute Godsend in winter. If you are looking to buy a focus, make sure you check it has the climate pack.     Advantages Advantages Cheap to run and insure, cheap parts, reliable, an all round great car

    ****Specifications**** The Ford Focus 1.6i Zetec is a five door hatch back with a 1596cc fuel injected petrol engine. The engine makes 99.2 bhp and 106lbs of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is 4,152mm long, 1,998mm wide and 1,430mm high.     I always said I wouldn't touch any Ford with a barge pole. That was until I was looking for a new car recently. For the money I had to spend (around 10,000GBP) it was a question of balancing getting a nearly new car against a couple of years old car which would have had a higher list price when new. I decided to go for the option that will (hopefully) cost me less money. I now have a 9 month old Focus 1.6 Zetec with Air Conditioning pack (which includes the heated front screen).     Driving this car today for the first time, I must say that it is a very good car. This car has a few extras some which are good and some that you could do without but I will explain that in more detail later on in the review. This car is very popular so the style must be good, as a lot of people have decided to buy this car. This cars handling is very good and drivers smoothly at slow speeds and really sticks to the road well at fast speeds.     I bought my Ford Focus Zetec as I needed a family 5 door car. The zetec is in the higher end of the model range and often as mine does, comes with uprated extras over the base models. My car came with a 'Climate Pack'. This is a combination of air conditioning, heated front windscreen, heated mirrors and heated washer jets. These are excellent features in the winter months and save valueable minutes in a morning defrosting the car.     Like many people over Christmas, I decided to rent a car for the festive season. I was driving all the way up to Edinburgh from Bedford, which worked out to be 372 miles each way, as well as a few trips here and there. A more economical way of getting there was by either plane or train but we had missed out on all the cheap deals by the time we decided we wanted to go. In total I did about 1500 miles in the festive week from Christmas to the New Year.     I rented a car off Hertz for a driving trip through the Lake District over valentines and was furnished with a facelift shape 2009 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec in a beautiful metallic light (Vision) blue. I am a diesel man myself and was a little apprehensive on driving a petrol engine, especially on some of the roads I was ready to endure on my trip. The car I hired was a Zetec class which has air conditioning, quick clear windscreen, CD player with bluetooth phone connectivity, sporty interior, fog lights, EPS, ABS and alloy wheels.     Disadvantages Disadvantages They get a bad rap for being a Ford which they DO NOT deserve.

    Actually, I would say its better than a BMW. The Focus handles well, it is excellent on fuel, it looks good, the interior is extremely well laid out.... but lets get this opp into some kind of order. Price. I paid £7995 for a 2001 model Focus Zetec. Just to clear one thing up.. Ford's 16 valve double over head cam engine is called the Zetec engine. BUT, Ford also do a model option called a Zetec. Let me explain. You can go out and buy a Focus Zetec with a 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 engine. So thats a Ford Focus Zetec model with a Zetec engine. You can also but a Focus Zetec with a diesel engine ... more

    For the latest in a long line of hire cars I was presented with the 5 door, 1.6 ltr hatchback. At first impression it isn't too bad, very ordinary to look at but it's a Ford, so what do you expect? The boot space is adequate, but marred by the awkward lip, which seems to be a Ford hallmark. With a little juggling I was able to get all my tools and spares in. It is pleasant to drive but unremarkable performance. I often feel that I am driving in third gear when in reality I'm in fifth. It will park in a fairly tight space but you have to be careful as the rear view mirror is deceiving when ... more

    I will start this review off by saying first I am crap at English so if my spelling or grammar is not very good I can only blame my teachers at school not me because it can not be my fault. The ford focus zetec 1.6i is the best car I have ever had which is only 4 but I have drove a lot of cars in my time and in my opinion the focus is the best by far I first chose the focus because I and my wife had another baby and needed a larger car and a boot to fit a pushchair into and my old car just was not up to the job.
