“Shirehorse of cars”

Reliable mechanics, powerful engine, sophisticated...

Heavy steering, odd Ford ache and pain, age beginn...

WHAT IS IT? The Ford Focus was, is and apparently shall forever be the epitome of the euro-hatchback. It's introduction in the late 90's was pretty much as drastic and revolutionary as the introduction of the Volkswagen Golf GTi, but for different reasons. Where the Golf GTi afforded racing power...

Truely excellant car.

Didnot have it long enough. Everyone got one

At the start of this review I am going to let everyone know why little old me has been missing from ciao for a while. I am currently trying to tidy my house up, as it’s gone up for sale since Monday just gone. Since I am now married I am looking to move to a newer house, and my time is required...

“Focus on this”

Value for money, safe, reliable

Common as muck

Surely not. It can't be. It shouldn't be allowed. Another Ford Focus review. Hasn't everyone in the country already owned one, driven one or read about them until they dreamt about them? Well...yes. But this review has an contextual relevancy to it: The new Focus has just been released, and as...

Handles well, drives nice. Accelerates good.

Plasticy, Ugly

When the Focus was announced as the replacement to the popular Ford Escort, I must admit, I had my doubts. After years of 1980's domination where nearly every drive in the country had a Sierra, Escort or Fiesta on it, Ford were struggling to keep up with the cheaper and more reliable Japanese...

“FOCUS ON THE FUTURE”

ROAD HANDLING,RELIABLE,APPEALING TO ALL AGES

TOO COMMON BECAUSE NEARLY EVERYONE WANTS ONE

BACKGROUND I bought my 5 door X reg 1.8 Zetec Focus nearly 2 and a half years ago.My previous cars were a Ford Escort 1.3 followed by a Vauxhall Astra 1.3 then a Cavalier SRi. My most recent cars have been a Ford Sierra and a Fiat Punto. Yes I know what you are thinking my car choice can only get...

value for money, build quality, driving pleasure

dealerships, customer service

I bought a 1 year-old 1,8 Zetec this year, and have to say from the outset it's the best Ford I've driven. I had driven all the engine sizes from the 1.4 to the 2 litre as hire cars, and was most impressed by the 1.8. Hence the purchase. I was looking at buying a grey import, but was concerned...

“Focus on the details”

published 28/02/2004

Handling, insurance (low), styling, performance

common as muck, heavy, little internal storage

I may have only been driving for a matter of months, but I have already been behind the wheel of four different cars, not including the pathetic 1.ol Corsa my instructor used. A s my test approached, my mum and I decided that it was time to trade in our Laguna 1.8 RT for some thing a bit more...

“Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec C-MAX.”

published 28/11/2003

Roomy, upmarket quality & quiet.

Hand brake position needs getting used to.

! Picked it up on Monday 24 November 2003, very pleased with initial hand over. Comes in a variety of colours, my wife and I chose the Ink Blue mettalic (extra cost). The Zetec model seems to have most niceties fitted as standard, so we opted for this. Impressions so far, very refined ride, very...

In 2003 I bought my first car! Having passed my test I spent sleepless nights worrying that I would buy some heap of junk form a dodgy dealer! As I learnt to drive in the Focus, it seemed the logical car to go for. All I knew was that it should be black and have a 1.6l or greater engine (pretty...

“Ford Focus Zetec 1.8”

A roomy and stilish car

Every other person has one

My Focus is now coming up to 3 years old (W reg) and has covered about 17000 miles. I have had the car from new and replaced a very tired Austin Maestro 1.3. I tend to keep my cars for a long time, so running costs and reliability are very inportant to me. The car, so far has been very reliable...

“Fun small family car”

published 10/10/2002

Stylish, practical, safe and fun

Depreciation, some rattles

Overall ------- I bought a 6 month old 1.8 Ghia Focus as a replacement for a Ford Escort. Ford have transformed the previous offering into a superb car at a reasonable price. I can't fault the drive, handles briliantly and feels safe. It feels strong at tough as well. It's unusual looking, well...

Excellent driving position and visibility

Smallish boot

I have been driving my Ford Focus 1.8LX for five weeks now in a variety of road conditions and I have to say that it has been an excellent buy. I bought the car through the Ford Direct scheme, it had done about 13,000 miles and was just under a year old (W reg). I had taken the car for a test...

Competent Sure Footed and Reliable Motorcar.

But Yawn!

Prior to purchasing my 1.8 Focus I owned a Renault Clio - which was great fun even if a little on on the feminine side (yes I'm a bloke and no I'm not gay!!!) That beauty was economical and great fun to drive. Even at fifty or sixty mph it felt like you were Michael Schumacher leading the British...

“Focus 1.8 MP3”

Handling, Looks, Interior style

Too many on the road!

I bought my Focus 1.8 MP3 (3 door special edition) about 14 months ago, and I tend to get bored with things very quickly, but suprisingly, I am far from becoming bored with my Focus. In fact the only reason I would consider changing it is to get another one. Every time I drive it, I enjoy it. It...

I've had a 1.8 Focus collection for about a year now. My previous car was a MK3 Golf 1.8 and the Focus was a revalation. Came with heated screen and mirrors - a godsend on a cold frosty morning, decent CD player, mororised mirrors, air con, metallic paint & alloy wheels. Boot space is OK and...
