    Advantages Advantages comfortable, economical, spacious

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has a Ford badge on the front

Well, here we are, after nearly a year, my new company car has arrived, or rather, I had to go and collect it from Bristol. It is a diesel engined focus CMax 1.6 TDCI Style. The Style is one of the cheaper versions but is more than acceptable in terms of comfort and equipment. It is going to be my home from home for the next four working years so I hope I chose wisely. I deliberately chose a lower emission model as those horrible people at HMRC like to tax the drivers of company cars, as though having one was some kind of benefit. It's my workplace; does anyone else have to pay tax to sit in ... more

Advantages Advantages Amazing car with superb handling and very comfortable and practical

Disadvantages Disadvantages The 1.6 TDCI isn't quite a performer and the economy is poor for a diesel!!

Test Model Ford Focus C-MAX 1.6 TDCI (109) Zetec Reg no: BF55 LLZ UK model RHD Mileage 6800 Printed 0-60: 11.3 Printed max speed: 115 mph Following on from the success of their class leading small family hatchback, Ford decided to have a dabble in the compact MPV market using the Focus as a test bed. The new Focus C-Max was released in 2003 and was a preview of how the Focus hatchback replacement was heading to look. The C-Max itself is a handsome car for a bulky MPV and to be honest since their release I have been rather fond of them. The styling bought the car in line with the forever being ... more

Advantages Advantages Long distance comfort , practicality ,improved interior quality.

Disadvantages Disadvantages economy could be better, heated front screen essential.

I bought my first Cmax in August 2004 after having visited all the main dealers in search of a practical and reliable Mpv that could take my family to France for the summer holidays. My previous car had been a Toyota and so I was looking for something with a comparle interior build quality and feel. What drew me to the Ford was the revamped interior compared to the previous Focus models in that it is mainly a softer type of plastic which seems to eliminate rattles of the old car and is more akin to a Volkswagen. Sad thought it sounds I also needed something which was able to carry around all ... more

Advantages Advantages Good mpg, loads of space, great driving position

Disadvantages Disadvantages Look a bit plain, a little boring!

My previous car was a 1.8TDCI 'standard' Focus. It was a great car. I had it for 3 years and it was completely reliable, I didn't have a single problem with it. It was however, a 3 door Zetec model and with the arrival of our daughter, it wasn't quite practical enough…. I needed something with a bit more boot space and 4 doors. So, after looking at various other options, I ended up with a C-max 1.6 TDCI Zetec. So what's the verdict…….. Well, it isn't quite as fast as my previous car, but it's still a reasonably competent engine and it doesn't feel underpowered. Once more, I have found I'm ... more

Advantages Advantages Space, drive quality, economy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The Ford Focus.

This is a tough car to summarise, and many of the professional car reviewers contradict one another with the C-Max. When buying a car you need to... 1. Fix a budget in your head and don't go over it (a few hundred more will get me that model, oh, and a few more hundred will get me that... Before you know it you're after a car that's far dearer than your original sensible budget. 2. Decide what is most important in having a car and keep that in mind. That's where the C-Max comes in (or goes out). Look, there's no escaping it - it's a Focus. So why spend the extra for a C-Max (even used models ... more

Advantages Advantages Good nippy little car.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Few little dificulties

This is a briilian first car for young drivers. It has the speed and style to make it acceptable and acciting for a yound driver but also has good saftey standards and is soundly built making it safe as well as cool. This car was registered in September 2005 (55 plate) and I bought it in April 2006 with just under 10,000 miles on the clock. The fuel consumption readout was 36mpg, but the car had been used as a rental car so I reset the readout. Initially it hovered around 39mpg but is now showing 44mpg after a further 11,000 miles. It's very reliable, as a new car should be. Performance when ... more

Advantages Advantages Very roomy. Good layout of controls. Great for storage space

Disadvantages Disadvantages Acceleration can be slower than 1.8.Parking brake needs getting used to!

We picked up our new C-Max having changed it from a 04 Focus ghia. At first I was not impressed and preferred the new focus estate. After driving it mind it has amazed me how agile it is. The steering is very responsive and you get a very high position when driving. Visibilty is miles better than the focus. Also all the controls are much easier to see and use. The gearstick looks akward but is surprisingly easy to use. The electronic parking brake takes getting used to but its not too much trouble. Coming from a 1.8 TDCi to a 1.6 is a bit slower on acceleration but the fuel economy is much ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comfort. Economy.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Looks

I find the Ford Focus CMAX 1.6 TDCi Trend to be an excellent all round car. The driving position suits both my wife and myself, with enough adjustment for both of us. Fuel economy is quite remarkable, if you drive with that in mind. Most of our journeys are 3 miles to town cold, and 3 miles back on twisty undulating roads. Not economical driving conditions, and the car returns around 40 mpg. On long runs it returns around 60 mpg. If you want a bit of power then it is there. The rear seat arrangement is clever, and would accomodate 4 adults fine. I bought this as a replacement for a Focus ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not being told the Truth.

I am Afraid to say. I am not at all pleased with my Ford Focus. I have the Ford Focus Estate L.X model. it has A 16ltr Engine with an Automatic gear box 4 speed. I bought the car straight from the Manufactures. the Problems that I had were,Unbelievable. I had problems from day one. Here are the Problems that I had with the Ford company. (1) I ordered the car back in 2006 in January I was supposed to have picked it up from that date but I was told that I was unable to have the car until, March 2006. (2) I needed A car that was going to be economical to run, But what I discovered was. it was ... more
