You Can In A Ka

Advantages: Fun to drive. VERY distinctive looks. Good handling. A very practical and easy to drive car.
Disadvantages: Not a lot of extras. A "girly" image. restricted choice of engines and specifications.

...hire company offered me a Ford Ka instead. I’d been intending to have a drive in a wee Ka for ages, and was supposed to have one booked on a short trip to Scotland last year, but on that occasion the hire company pawned me off with a Peugeot 106 instead. (That DID perturb me, ‘cos it was/is a crap motor car!) ~ ~ The Ka has been a best seller for Ford ever since it first hit the streets back in 1996, so it has to have something going ...
...still based on the old Ford Fiesta chassis, but has a far livelier 1297cc engine than the older models, which pumps out 68bhp at 5,500rpm. What this means is that it’s a bit nippier than in the past, although with a 0 to 60mph time of just a shade over 14 seconds, you’re hardly likely to be taking part in the sequel to the movie “The Fast and the Furious”. But it’s still plenty fast enough for ordinary day to day driving, ...

...had a look at the Ford website (www.ford.co.uk/ie/ka). Apparently, it takes 14.1 seconds to go from a standstill to 62 miles per hour. That may be, but the car FELT nippier, probably because of its size. Like I said before, I rented this car. So I’ve never had it serviced, clearly, and can’t discuss how often nor how much it costs. This is, however, a Ford, and so finding service centres shouldn’t be difficult. I think. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...
...Were you to visit a Ford dealership, you would no doubt test drive the Ka for yourself. You’d also no doubt enquire about service intervals and the like. No test drive, though, tells you what it’s like to drive for a week. This, I hope I have done. Are you looking for an ultracompact car? Then I would certainly recommend you consider the Ka, keeping in mind all the points I’ve made above. It’s reasonably priced and seems ...

Ford's KA - Luxury

Advantages: Great economy, luxury trim, cute car
Disadvantages: A bit slow

...when she decided on a Ford Ka, I'd always liked the styling and her choice of the luxury model meant that I would have all the extras to play with too. The Ka has been a popular little motor since 1996, ours is the Luxury model which we bought new on 51 plates in 2001. The car had great looks with its colour coded bumpers and mirrors, alloy wheels and metallic paint - I think these features are extra cost options on the other models. I don't suppose ...
...of the window trims - Ford use a black plastic film to give some of the finish a smoked glass effect, it looks really good but you'll see most older cars have this peeling away. My dealer did not want to repair this but I insisted, I showed him all the other cars in his car park with the same issue and asked him how he thought it could not be seen as a design fault. He called Ford and they accepted the cost (About £5 + fitting). If you have a ford ...

I’ve had one of these bad boys for about three years now. Mine in particular is the most basic modern car you can get I think. As far as I’m aware the Ka only comes with one engine type – the Fiesta’s 1.3i Endura-engine. Compared to other similar sized cars, it seems to be quite quick. I have driven a couple of Saxos, an AX, Fiesta or two, Clio, 206 and the Ka fares quite well against them. I particularly dislike the Saxo (or Paxo as I call it, because ...
...reason that I had one as a courtesy car when my Ka was being serviced. It made me realise how good the Ka build quality is coupled with it’s attention to detail: The seat knocked, it was really slow, and I felt like the hand brake was about to fall off if I pulled it too hard – it had only done 600 miles! I would like to point out that I have only driven two Paxos, and neither for a great distance or time, so it is perhaps a little unfair for me ...

...on the forecourt of a ford dealer surrounded by cars of all models and sizes, I was quite sure It was going to be either the Ford Ka or the Ford Fiesta. I am still learning to drive at the moment, something I’ve often thought of doing but never really got around to but now with mobility problems starting to slow me down I thought it’s a choice of becoming house bound, dependant on other people or taking up the challenge and taking some driving lessons. ...

Some people including my self seem to be a little unsure of just how to pronounce the word Ka, I have heard several versions so I asked the head mechanic in the service department and he assured me it is pronounced “Ka” as in the sound of the word “car” so that’s good enough for me. When I told the salesman that I wasn’t sure whether to buy a Fiesta or a Ka he informed me that the engine and the chassis is the ...

MY KA2

Advantages: fun to drive, cheap insurance, low cost driving
Disadvantages: not much legroom in the back

I puchased my Ford KA2 three years ago, soon after i passed my driving test. I had set my heart on a KA, i had read numerous reviews in motoring magazines and watched fixated every time one came on the t.v. I had £5000 burning a hole in my back pocket, so on a bright May morning i set out car hunting. However i didn't have to travel far as there is a Ford dealer in my town so this was my first port of call. As i pulled onto the forecourt my eye ...

STEREO Nice stereo on which you can pre-programme your favourite radio shows. Only cassette player but you can get an upgrade to a c.d player. The stereo has lovely chrome styling that wraps around the cockpit. ELECTRIC WINDOWS The KA2 has electric windows in the front. The driver can operate both his ...

I bought my T-Reg Ford KA2 Special Edition nearly two years ago now and got a really good deal on it as it was a garage show car and only had about 500 miles on the clock (if you are looking to save some money then it may be worth asking about test drive/show cars.) There are many great things about this unusual car so here we go.... 1. The insurance is inexpensive as the car is only a group 3 - good for young drivers trying to build up their no ...
...payments. 2. Even though the KA is one of Fords cheaper models, accessories have not been skimped on. My little baby has a leather steering wheel and leather gear stick, the upholstery is good quality and my particular model also has metallic paint. 3. The 3-litre engine is nippy around the town with good acceleration from traffic lights. Out on the motorway the car will easily do 90 (although speed limit is of course 70 so not recommending this ...

...car for three years. The Ford Ka first grabed my attention through it's odd 'space ship' type appearence and out of an 'urge', had to test one out to see if the unusual looks also led to an 'unusual' drive. I was very pleasantly surprise to find that the illusion of what appears to be a small pokey car vanishes as soon as you sit behind the wheel.....Ooo, loads of room, I thought. What about the drive? well, the Ka feels powerful and has keen acceleration ...
...joy. I also felt that the comfort standard for this class of car was also high, with unobtrusive design and colours, flowing lines and fully adjustable seating positions. The Ka is also thought to be quite safe and sturdy, including driver air bag as basic (though I didn't put this to the test :)) And the entertainment...I only had the basic radio and tape, but great sound! I used the Ka for mainly city driving which was perfect for nipping around ...

I have just been in Edinburgh for a few days at the Fringe, and while we were there hired a car so that we could get out of the city and see other attractions like the Falkirk Wheel and the Glenkinchie distillery. (Mmm... whisky) We went for the cheapest option which turned out to be the basic model Ka. So clearly I am not really qualified to talk about car cost and extra features etc. Any references I make to this will be from Ford's website and ...
...no optional extras, so manual windows, tape stereo, etc. This would cost in the region of £6,300. Most things about the car were excellent. For a small car it accommodated 4 adults with ease leaving everyone with plenty of leg- and head-room. The boot space was adequate, maximizing the available space very well. You'd struggle to take 4 people and their luggage in it, but then you would in any small car! It would comfortably hold most family's weekly ...

The Ford Ka. Not exactly the best name for a car, considering there is still much confusion about even how to pronounce the damn thing. But who cares, Ka, any way you say it means fun! The design of the Ka is so different, you either love it or hate it. However, after you have a drive, you maybe converted. The handling is sharp, responsive and light. Reversing into parking spaces is made easy, with its large rear view and petite size. Even the ...
...vents finish the look. Although Ford really do need to do something about their radios as I don't know one person who has not had trouble with the removable security pannel just 'popping out' on your favorite song. Ford must have done something right, they have based all of the updated versions in their range upon the fresh look of the Ka, the Ford Focus being the best selling car at present. The range can start at an amazing £5999, which is well ...

Ford KA 1.3

Advantages: Looks, Interior, Reliabilty (besides airbag)
Disadvantages: Airbag, pre1998 cars, back space.

The Ford KA, officially an icon for Ford. The Ka was introduced in 1996 and my girlfriend bought the 1998 KA 1 model as her first car. It was obviously a 3-door model (the only option) but it was in a weird colour, it looked like brown, grey and silver mixed into one, but it was listed in the logbook as grey. The KA was originally designed to only have black plastic bumpers so in the event of a minor crash they could easily and cheaply be replaced. ...
...after it had been into Ford for a full service, so make sure Ford check it. Also to say this car had over 70000miles when purchased, i have do say it was excellent and besides the air-bag not going off, nothing at all, not even a bulb ever when wrong and we owned it 3 years. The 1.3 engine is quite gutsy and does pull well upto town speeds, which is the home of the KA, but beware any long drives do become very annoying as the engine is noisy and ...

My sister in law has been driving this car for a number of years now. I borrow it when quite often as mine is usually in the garage and it is easier to use hers. ...get what everyone has against Ford Kas. I really don't. Perhaps I'm biased. The first car I ever owned was a Ka, and I guess everyone feels affection fro their first runaround. Ironically now I'm stuck with a Corsa, which I hate, and think longingly of the days I had my baby to toodle about in. Anyway, to get some decent facts in.
