WESTAWAY MOTORS

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: To many to go into

Westaway Motors are main dealers for Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Subaru, Isusu, Dhaiatsu and KIA. On the surface the company appears to be a normal, bog standard, run of the mill, no frills car shop. If you are unfortunate to fall for their veneer of respectability you could end up buying one of their 'approved second hand range' that turns out to have 'serious previous damage' and upon being in collision with a mouse is made a catagory D and ...
...been 'thouroughly inspected' and was 'in excellent condition for its age and mileage' this customer believes Westaway Motors to be either miss selling cars or incompetent. Dealing with this company has been like stepping into the excrement of a diseased dog. Truely vile and something you would not want to do again. check out www.usedcarfromhell.co.uk ...

Sandicliffe in the Midlands

Advantages: Good service, Free collection and delivery, Discount card
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...I had been to another Ford dealer in Derby, and been given the best price they could do. I then went to the Sandicliffe garage and asked them to beat this price, which they did - albeit by a few pounds! I bought the car on a Finance package similar to Options. Once I had agreed the price, everything was reasonably plain-sailing. I originally wanted the car a week later than I actually picked it up, but asked the garage if I could collect it a week ...
...The garage are trying to sort out the problem and are ordering new mats and speaking to Ford to get the correct shape. They were very helpful and apolagetic. I would recommend this garage to anyone wishing to get themselves a good service, or a good deal! ...

Cujimmys Comprehensive Guide On Used Fords

Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion

...~ Ever since old Henry Ford made the Model-T into one of the world’s first popular mass-produced cars, Ford have never been too far from the top of the manufacturer’s league. Today they produce a range of vehicles of all sizes and types, which they market internationally on every continent and in nearly every country on the planet. So it hardly comes as a surprise that here in the UK and Ireland Ford is the car of choice of literally ...
...been a best seller for Ford ever since it was first produced. There is a very good reason for this. Quite simply, it is a fine little motorcar, and terrific value for money. Many motorists started of their motoring lives in a Fiesta, as they are cheap to buy, maintain, and to run, and don’t cost an arm and a leg to insure for the younger driver, especially the smaller-engined versions. The most recent models are very well appointed, many ...

Saving Money

Advantages: Friendly & welcoming
Disadvantages: Location

...I've put this opinion under Ford as thats where my experience lies but what I say really goes for all manufacturers. Before I give you all my tips for saving money without going abroad I'll just put forward a bit of information about why you find it hard to purchase from abroad. ~~~ Manufacturers Won't Supply RHD Cars ~~~ I sometimes get a little worked up when I hear the people on "Watchdog" telling the viewers that the manufacturers deliberately ...
...continent. Yes the manufacturers are legally obliged to provide the car to the dealers but they won't do it very quickly, this is true. What is never mentioned though is that the manufacturers will not supply ANY car quickly. The dealer doesn't order a car when you do, he sells you one which he has already bought from the manufacturer, maybe several months ago. ~~~ Dealer Stock ~~~ Yes, when you buy your new car its not fresh of the production ...

Arriva Ford Nottingham

Advantages: Very efficient, excellent competitiveness, good customer service and knowledge of products in which they sell and in which they give.
Disadvantages: Did not send a reminder about MOT and service due

I purchased a Ka this time last year. This was my first own car as the rest of the time I had been driving my parents cars. As it was my first car to buy, I was a fore front of heavy sales pressure. As I was looking around the cars, I had a sales person come up to me and tryed to sale me a car, but I had a good idea what I wanted. For some reason, they wanted me to go for a feista, yet i new that it is more expensive to run and insure, although it ...
...at a KA, they went out there way to find me a second hand one that was in good condition. Two days later, I received a phone call from them saying that they had a car for me and did I want to look at it. As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it. They cleaned the car up and did necessary work to it e.g. taking a few scratches out and a chip on the window screen and away I went after signing the forms. Normanly you can tell when the dealership ...

...its release! Not forgetting the Ford Escort that survived nearly 30 years of production from its Mark 1 body up to the most recent Mark 6. They scooped the market in the 80's with their hot hatch boy racer cars such as the XR2(fiesta) XR3 and RS Turbo (Escort) and XR4 and Cosworth(Sierra's). Ford Wilton, never again

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: The worst service ever

...our first new car, at Ford Wilton at the Mercuriusweg in The Hague. Before we payed the car, in cash, we were treated as kings. After paying, well, things changed. Within the first six months of owning the car we had trouble with the radio-cd player. Cd's would just stop playing. We went back to Wilton but after about four tries they still could not find the problem. At our request the cd player was replaced. The new cd player started showing the ...
...They even lied and said we had never been around with the car. What can I say: Ford Wilton, never again. Afterwards it turned out we were not the only ones with problems with this 'dealer'. It seems almost all of the Netherlands have had trouble with Ford Wilton. ...

The insiders story on Ford

Advantages: You can buy a car
Disadvantages: You will not get value for money, guaranteed

...You all see the sparkly Ford adverts on the TV and some of you have probably been persuaded by those adverts, if not to buy a car, then to at least check them out. What I am going to do in this opinion is give you a little insight into the goings on behind the nicely decorated “Customer Facing Area”. I will start at the start (for it is best to do things this way occasionally), I started working for a Ford dealer about four years ago ...
...Due to the fact that Ford operate by a network of bonus schemes and low pay, most staff feel “Why should I look after this stuff, they are not paying me extra to do it”. It is disappointing to see this behaviour, but it is a way of life in the motor trade. The trainees are overawed by the sheer scale of everything, and the old hands sit around wishing they could be working in another industry. In most cases, you will find trainees doing ...

Good service or bad service you decide

Advantages: Friendly staff and a great warranty
Disadvantages: sometimes hard to get there (if the car has broken down)

...that came out was the Ford Galaxy 2.0 petrol for us. As this was a ford we knew there was only one place to go and that was the Ford dealership. We didnt want a new one (who would with a bunch of rugrats to ruin it) so we opted for a slightly used model. We got to the dealership and the staff couldnt be more helpful. We went for a test drive and the car was great and it was a GOOD price as well. When we got back to the dealership we sat down ...
...saved us so far £4000. Ford galaxies are great but they are expensive and twice we have had problems with it. The ford dealership has taken the car (no quibling) and fixed it for us at no charge to ourselves. The first time the car started playing up the parts and labour cost £1700 but did not cost us a penny and the second time the catalitic converter went and that alone to replace cost £1300 not including labour costs. With the car been used ...

Disadvantages: After sales service pathetic.Expensive parts.Shoddy workmanship.Monopoly

After buying two Ford 1.7 litre Pumas at the end of 2000 I must say I have not regretted our choice of car for one moment.Wanting to get a good resale value on the cars as well as them being under guarantee I decided to stick with Ford Main Dealer Service near us in West Byfleet.I decided to ask our friendly dealer to order us custom mats and fit mudflaps to both cars.No problem both cars were fitted within days and they looked fantastic with the ...

Excellent service

Advantages: ford direct package, reputable dealer
Disadvantages: not sure yet!!

...week i have bought a ford escort from my local ford dealer (motors coalville ltd) in coalville and thought i should try and put some confidence back in the market. The dealer principal was very welcoming he asked us what car we were after, what price we were looking at and if we had any other requirements. We needed to buy a car in a low insurance group for about £4000 and were particulaly interested in the escorts. He showed us two different ones ...

There's a Dixon deal but not for you

Advantages: The car is good...
Disadvantages: ...the dealer is not

After severing all ties with my K-registered Rover 414Si last year, I went to Dixon Ford, then managed by TC Harrison. A P-registered Escort LX caught my eye, and I was soon making further enquiries. A test drive later and the deposit was paid. I was told "you're seeing the car in it's worst condition" by the salesman, and I was assured that it'd be cleaned and valeted before I picked it up a week later. The happy day arrived, and off I went to ...
...- all £6,000 of it. It was then that I was offered *gasp* an extended two-year warranty. The salesman said it covered me for the clutch and a host of other things which I didn't even know a car had! I've had a new clutch fitted before, and with the two years of breakdown cover with the RAC included, it sounded like a good deal. That cost me another £350. (Just to interrupt for a second - when I got in the car, I noticed that it hadn't been valeted ...

Jennings - better than most

Advantages: Good customer care, good parts prices
Disadvantages: Main dealer car prices

...truly awful car dealerships, Jennings Ford is a reasonably pleasant surprise. I originally went to them when looking for a Puma (see my review of this car too), but was put off by their bog-standard new and used prices, which were typically high. After eventually buying my Puma from Motornation in Wigan (quite a trip from Newcastle, but worth it - see another of my reviews), I went back to Jennings when it needed its first service. Every time I've been to Jennings, their customer care has put every other garage I've patronised well in the shade. You're attended to quickly, treated well, and generally made to feel valued. They even gave me a lift to and from work when my car was being serviced and they ...

How do Ford get away with it

Advantages: good name
Disadvantages: rip off merchants! try and take money for doing nothing

I bought a Ford Escort from our local dealer in Worcester just over 12 months ago. It's a fairly new car and it passed it's mot when we bought it with no problems whatsoever. Well, when the mot expired I took it back there as we were happy with the purchase of the car and wanted to continue using Ford for services and mot's. They rang me at work with the news that it had failed on a number of things and said that it would take about £250 to put ...
...in our cars anyway! The ford dealer wanted to charge me £25 for the petrol cap and, here it is, another £20 to fit it!! I had a new end of exhaust fitted which came to £60, again ford had quoted £125, and when I checked the failure sheet, it had not actually failed on the omissions at all. I really ejoyed taking the car back and when it passed the mot, I told them that I had saved myself over £150 by walking down to the other end of the showroom ...
