Advantages: Discusses emotions in a an honest way, an educational book, teaches about relationships Disadvantages: Steretyped characters? A bit old fashioned now and idealised.
...together.
Bearing in mind that Forever was written 25 years ago, I suppose it was relevant to young people at the time, and it remains a well thought out story about first love and the sexual relationship that goes along with it. However, nowadays I don't think that many young people could relate to the idea of being 18 and only just having their first sexual experience.
The characters also seemed to me not to be fully rounded, they were only ...

...members of the opposite sex, Forever was, in its way a saviour. It was the book which was whispered about in the cloakrooms... copies were passed furvitively under desks between pupils, concealed from parents, passages giggled and wondered about in the playground. It was BAD and we all wanted to read it.
The story line is nothing special in itself- girl meets boy, they fall in love, decide its going to last forever... I shan't give away the ending ...

Thinking about it, I don’t think there was a single member of my form who had not read this book by Lower 4 (our name for Year 8, 2nd year senior school). There were a few copies which would circulate among us and which, by the end of the year, had become very worn. The copy that belonged to me even had “important” bits underlined by some annoying person – note to self, beware who you lend books to in the future. Whichever ...

Advantages: Fairly cheap easy read for teenagers Disadvantages: Often explicit and I don't think it promotes safer sex
This book is out from several publishers but it was around £3 when I read it at school years ago.
Basically, Katherine and Michael are 2 teenagers who meet at a party and eventually become girlfriend and boyfriend. For reasons I've never been able to figure out (despite reading it several times), Katherine's parents insist that the two should spend the summer apart. Can their love survive?
There are many things I don't like about this book. ...

Advantages: A quick, easy read Disadvantages: It's porn for kids!
This is quite possibly one of the best books for a young teenager to read, in fact, my friends and I pretty much grew up on it. Even though we're technically "all grown up" we still talk about how we used to giggle over it. It's the kind of book that you remember as part of your misspent adolescence.
The book centres around two main characters, Katherine and Michael. After meeting at a New Years Eve party, they begin to fall in love. Michael has ...

Advantages: Offers a straigt forward view of the topic, any references are not unnecessary Disadvantages: Readers must have reached the correct age of maturity
My review title- the tagline on the back of the book, somesup all relationships in earlier teenage years, being still 14(using family account) this book led a great insight into relationships. Many people may claim this book promotes sex, or is unsucessful in promoting safer sex. Katherine and Michael meet at a fondue party, quickly allowing a relationship too grow, and, creating a clear insight for teenagers into there decisions that 'love is forever', ...

Advantages: Teaches the reader about the important matters before having sex. Disadvantages: None!
The main parts of the story is that Katherine and Michael first clap eyes onto each other at a fondue party, but they both don't really get on well over a pot full of melted cheese. Even though sparks didn't fly when they met, as the story goes on they both end up in a passionate relationship.
Michael wants to make love to Katherine, but because she is still a virgin, she is hesitant at first!
Before any action happens, they both explore each other's ...

Advantages: Gave me my first valuable advice on "boys and girls" when too embarrassed to ask others Disadvantages: Is explicit in places, although this is not unnecessary and totally in context with the book
At the age of 12 (seems like a million years ago - but only 18 - aagggghhh!!) I was learning all about boys and how perhaps they weren't "awful" afterall. Although open with my Mum to this point, she obviously detected that this was a subject I was finding hard to discuss. One night I found a copy of "Forever" by my bed and its impact on me sowed the seeds of responsibility into my mind for my future relationships.
Judy Blume does a remarkable ...

"You can't go back to holding hands"
That is the quote from the book that has stayed with me since I read Forever.
Looking back now, I was too young to "get" all of this book, but suprisingly enough, at 10-15 years further on, I still remember it vividly.
Forever is a tale of teenage love, hormones, and sex. It is based around Katherine and Michael... They meet at a New Year's party, and hit it off. In the months that follow, they fall in ...

Advantages: As a teenager this book is helpful, readable and still amusing Disadvantages: It is fairly out of date in concepts these days, and also cheesy
When I first read this book when I was about 13 or 14 years old, I got it from the library. It had been read many times before. I knew this because one of the readers had kindly taken the time to put stars in the bottom corners of the pages containing the rude parts!! That is what this book is for teenagers. It is the erotic thriller before they're allowed to take erotic thrillers off the shelf. Judy Blume once again conducts herself as knowing an ...

Advantages: Looking back now you realise how realistic it is to life. Disadvantages: Could of focused more on feeling and love rather than the action.
Looking back this book was rather upfront for its time. I remember reading this when I was about 12 or 13, it certainly opened my eyes. Looking back at it now.....would I want my daughter to read it? Yes I think so, the situations in the book shouldn't be hidden away, nor should teenagers be finding out these situations usually taken for granted by adults from a book. Everyone goes through situation of exploration and we have all probably been in ...

Advantages: Has sex in it Disadvantages: It's crap
anyone reads this book is because they are at primary school and word gets out that there's a book in the school library with SEX in it, or someone brings it in to class and it gets surreptitiously passed around the back with the page with the sex on marked, and everyone read that bit and feels both naughty and a bit let down cos it's all a bit serious and you can't really relate. From what I recall, hardly anyone reads the entire book, just the bits ...
