4 Stars Bigger Than Gran Turismo! Review with images 22/09/2011

Advantages Advantages Over 300 cars, great graphics and a lot of game modes!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not many people play online now and Forza 4 is out soon!

FORZA MOTORSPORT 2 Forza Motorsport 2 is the second game from the growing franchise of the car racing game exclusively for the Xbox 360. The first Forza Motorsport game was released back in 2005 for the original Xbox and is compatible with the Xbox 360. Then in 2007 Forza Motorsport 2 was released and is fairly different to the first and in my opinion much better. Forza Motorsport is labelled the Xbox 360 version of Gran Turismo (PS3) even though they are actually two different games. Turn 10 Studios developed Forza Motorsport 2 and Microsoft Game Studios are the publishers for the game. There ... more

Advantages Advantages Graphics & game mechanics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Like all of these games, it will (eventually) get dull

Let me begin by saying that I am a true Gran Tourismo fan. I have owned and played to death every version of the game on the PS2. Every other racing game I have played I have compared to GT and found lacking. This was one of the factors that was steering me towards a PS3. However, when a friend asked me to look after his Xbox 360 whilst he went on holiday, all this changed. So, where to begin? As you would expect from a Next Gen title, the graphics are amazing. And not just a little bit either. The attention to detail if phenomenal. The car models are truly fantastic, and the damage function ... more

Advantages Advantages Runs at a smooth 60fps, over 300 cars, expansive career mode and excellent car physics

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to find customised cars in the auction house, More tracks would have been good.

So finally Microsoft’s sequel to Forza Motorsport makes it’s debut on the Xbox 360. So is this highly anticipated racing simulation as good as it is cracked up to be ? Over all the game is solid. The game has a lengthy offline career, which rewards you as you progress, with cars and in game credits. To add to the replay value of the game there is also online racing in which you can either race for fun, or continue your career online, earning credits to buy new cars or upgrade parts. Whether you take your driving seriously, or just for fun, this game is for you. With three AI difficulties and ... more

Advantages Advantages Great graphics and slick gameplay both solo and live

Disadvantages Disadvantages Misses the next rung of the ladder and lacks the variety of the first game

Ok I have to say that I have been seriously looking forward to this game since I heard back at the launch of the 360 console that it would be coming it's way. I was a huge fan of the original game, lots of custom bits for all the cars, being able to make the car look pretty individual just by changing the bumpers and wheels and thats before you even began work on the transfers which allowed you to create virtually any design you wanted. The racing action was good, it looked great, live options were good with a wide variety of races available including uphill, downhill, track, point to point ... more

Advantages Advantages Very good, realistic driving game.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of tracks, no help in choosing cars.

Forza 2 has been around a little while now and when I picked it up at a car boot sale for £3, I wondered how good this game would be. Intro Well, this game had been explained to me as the Xbox 360 version of the Gran Turismo games which are available on the Sony PlayStations. To some degree this is true. Prior to Racing There are a number of options you can select to get racing. There is an arcade mode and a career mode, plus multiplayer options. The arcade mode allows you to choose from a huge number of cars and you unlock tracks by winning races. It doesn't take long to unlock the tracks ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks Well, Cheap, Millions of Cars

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can Get A Bit Boring

Although its been out for a while now, Forza 2 still remains one of the best racing games on the Xbox 360, only rivalled by Grid and NFS Shift. Now in the classics range, meaning you can pick it up for not much more than a tenner, is even more of an incentive to delve into your pockets and invest into the game. But is it really a 'classic', I mean can a 2 year old game hold up against new releases with better graphics and improved physics engines? With the new Forza on the way, is it really worth buying this older version? There is not short answer to be honest, it really depends upon the ... more

Advantages Advantages replayability factor, realism, choice of cars

Disadvantages Disadvantages can get a bit tiring

Forza Motorsport 2 is a top driving title, it competes with the likes of PGR 4 and other titles such as Need for speed in its bid to be the best racing title on the 360. Although Forza is pitted as a real driving sim it never quite feels like one, it also doesn't have the feel of an arcade racer like PGR 4 does. However I find this quite a good thing as the game is quite difficult and it is challenging to win races whereas sometimes in the other two games it is far to easy. In Forza there is a massive selection of cars, too many to count to be honest, but by doing this you have a varied choice ... more

Advantages Advantages Great online play, Very realistic, Lots of cars (300+)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE

Forza Motorsport 2. One of the genre defining games of the year for me and many others. When you first load up the game you are presented with simple, 'easy on the eye' menus which are clear to follow. GAMEPLAY The game is very flexible, which allows a wide variety of people to play. If you are a younger person, you can turn the various Driving Aids on, which will help you to keep the car on the track. Or if you are older or more experienced you can turn individual aids off, which not only make it harder but increase the amount of credits you win at the end of a race. Turn 10, the people ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Graphics,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Steep learning curve, not as action packed as many other racers, limited selection of tracks

The 2 big boys of racers on the Xbox 360 are the Project Gotham Racing series, the more arcade style, high octane racer, and the Forza Series, the Gran Turismo of the 360, the ultra realistic, slower paced racing, with the ability to fine tune cars to an astonishing level. I never played the original Forza, so I was thrown into Forza 2 a little unknowing. Started out by buying a VW Golf that was insanely slow, a far cry from the speedy Honda PGR3 gives you to start with for free. IMy first race was a joke, crashing non-stop, I wasn't used to the realistic driving style , however with the help ... more

    Advantages Advantages Customisation. Looks. Feel

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be too deep sometimes

When I bought my Xbox 360, this game came along with the bundle. I tried so hard to bargain for another game with the shop assistant but they were having none of it. I'm very glad that it didn't work though, as this has got to be the best racing game I've ever played. When I booted up the game (about 3 months after getting the 360) I wasn't expecting much. Infact, when i first played it I remember shouting out "Absolute garbage", but the more I dug into this game, the more I found a highly flexible gaming experience. I would almost compare it to a racing RPG. EVERYTHING is customisable, I ... more
