...by chance, I found the Freecom FSG-3 Storage Gateway. It not only had a 400 GB capacity and have 4 USB2 ports, but it could also manage printers (a print server) - fantastic!
There was a wireless version available too but since I already had wireless router I decided against it.
I colleague at work mentioned he had the exact one I was looking to buy. After a long discussion I decided to buy one from Amazon. Three short days later, it arrived!

In here I found that a beta version of their latest firmware was available (3.3.13), including a detailed description of the changes made since the previous version. Advantages: All in one unit, compact Disadvantages: Can get noisey when hot
I must admit, I was a bit cautious about buying this, specially with the price and what it does. But got it home and I was amazed with all the features it acctually has! Got mine from zomp.net. Really good price, and delivery was the next day!
Features:
Built-in 160gb HDD - speaks for itself really, loads of storage for all you PC's to access, with the option to set up user profiles, so you all have your own part of tha HDD password protected. ... ...user uses.
FTP Server - now this was my favorite. Able to access you documens from anywhere that has internet. You just need you username & password that you set up! And 'bobs you uncle' you can pull your files off to show friends. Or set up a guest account for anyone to access the files.
Web Server - Not explored this yet, but it seems a very tempting feature. As it says, is to obviously host your own website, on the HDD. You will of course have ...

Advantages: Small, lots of features, large capacity Disadvantages: Poor reliability
I've had one of these for 4 months, luckily for me I only used it to backup files already on my hard discs. After 4 months the device locked up completely and I have had to send it for repair/replacement.
It's not the easiest device to set up - if all goes well you can get it working in a few minutes but if not it can be a nightmare. Make sure you download the latest firmware as it always contains usefull extras that make using the FSG easier.
