Crust Alive

Advantages: Not as good as a fresh pizza but pretty damn close
Disadvantages: I can only fit seventeen in the freezer

...when I tasted my first Freschetta pizza! As you can see I know a good pizza when I taste one and believe me when I tell you Freschetta pizzas are the product I have been searching for and didn't think I would ever find. As all pizza lovers know, frozen pizzas just aren't the same. I've tried them all, Chicago Town, McCains, Goodfellows the lot and none come close to the freshly baked pizzas you enjoy in your local Pizza Hut or Pizza Express BUT Freschetta ...
...frozen - yes really! Freschetta pizzas Freschetta pizzas were first developed in 1996 in the United States and were a huge success over there winning loads of prizes for best new product etc, It wasn't long before they were launched over here in the U.K where they have had a colder reception but believe me, they are growing in popularity. Giants like Iceland, Tescos, Sainsburys and Morrisons are all now stocking Freschetta and the space/range allocated ...

Some you like and some you don't

Advantages: Novelty rise and bake pizza
Disadvantages: Amount of topping varies

...noticed a frozen pizza called Freschetta and thought I would check out two of the varieties Cheese Suprema and Suprema Pizza. Packaging A square box with an attractive green background on which a golden pizza rests complete with topping. Interestingly a triangular window allows you to take a peek at the actual contents (that is, am I getting enough topping on this pizza or shall I pick another one instead?). Inside the box, the pizza is contained ...

On the rear the bold statement ‘Get ready to experience extreme pleasure’. Well sorry I must be missing something because the earth definitely didn't move for me! Extreme pleasure? – rather sad if you get this from ...

Not the best pizza ever made

Advantages: Lots of people like it
Disadvantages: Not better than rival products

...hearing great things about the Freschetta Pizza, I decided to buy one from my local store. Costing £1.49 for a 8 inch pizza (diameter), I had relatively little trouble locating the 300g box from the freezer section. The box is green with a window for looking into the box and at the pizza itself, whilst, true to form for packaging, makes the illustrated pizza look like the best thing in the world. The cheese suprema is the variety that I have put ...
...my store, so I take it home excitedly in great anticipation after having read so many good things about it. The cheeses present on top of my still-frozen pizza are listed as mozzarella, red cheddar, regato and provolone. “Extreme pleasure” the back of the box claims. No need to pre-heat the oven. Okay, I take off the plastic packaging and place on the bottom shelf of my electric non-fan-assisted oven. I wait, for eighteen minutes, and ...

The man who brought you the McCaine housebrick

Advantages: The best home cooked frozen pizza ever
Disadvantages: need to remember the baking tray

...When I discovered Freschetta pizzas my first thought was to write an opinion on it. I contacted Ciao in order for them to create a new category and they replied suggesting that they needed more information on it. Well I had no further information about it, so I gave up on the idea. Fortunately somebody else seems to have managed to supply Ciao with enough details so here it is. Why I am so keen to write about could stem from the fact that it’s a ...
...rushing in I placed my Freschetta directly on the oven shelf, in a preheated oven as is normal for most other frozen pizzas. Consequently it oozed through the shelf and made a hell of a mess. Freschettas are totally uncooked from the start and so a baking tray is definitely required…. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! The cooking times vary slightly, depending on your oven but generally 20-25 minutes will be adequate. After removing your pizza from the oven ...

Advantages: Fillin and taste great
Disadvantages: The meat one is a little greasy for me

...loves them. ***********************PACKAGING********************** Freschetta pizza boxes, in my eyes, stand out from the rest. The boxes are green in colour, with red, blue and yellow detail. This makes them very distinctive. Inside the box, the pizza is wrapped in a clear plastic sleeve wrapper. Each box, has a slice like piece cut out of the top. This allows you to see the pizza inside. *************************PRICE************************ ...

Depending on where you purchase them from, the prices may vary. At the moment the cheapest place I have found is Iceland. ************************FLAVOURS********************** I have seen two different flavours of this pizza. Another Nice Opinion...This One Is Yummy

Advantages: yummy scrummy!
Disadvantages: Pity it's not cheaper

One of these days I will sit down and write about all the things I don't like...honest! Mmmmm, now Freshetta Pizzas! Freshetta Pizza's are found in most supermarket freezer departments, usually priced from around £2+ for a variety of flavours and styles such as Sauce stuffed Crust, and eight and twelve inch pizzas with -pepperoni, 4 cheeses, vegetable primavera, sausage, 4 meats and supreme as well as others which I cannot remember as there are ...
...- green boxes, with a window showing the pizza inside and of course the Freshetta logo - very bold, with the words 'Bakes and Rises' around it. Like most other pizza's - the Freshetta pizza has an internal wrapping around the pizza to keep it fresh, this has obviously got to be taken off to be placed directly into the oven. Freshetta pizza's usually take between 20-25 minutes to bake until ready, although it may vary from oven to oven, but the baking ...

...ounce (294 g) Culinary Council Freschetta Roasted Garlic Chicken with Rosemary. The description on the box reads: pizza crust topped with white meat, chicken, cheese, white sauce, and roasted garlic. The picture on the box looks appetizing, with large chunks of chicken and not as much crust as was in the actual pizza. The frozen pizza, straight from the box, was approximately 20 cm, or 16 in., in length, with about 2.8 cm of crust. So, a little less ...
...crust than I would have liked. I preheated the oven to 400 F for 10 minutes, put the pizza on a cookie sheet on the center oven rack, and cooked it for 23 minutes. The smell of the pizza cooking was tantalizing. I liked the smell of the garlic sauce, mozzarella cheese, and roasted chicken. I grew increasingly hungry by the minute. When I took it out of the oven, I put the hot pizza on a cool plate and divided it equally into fourths. The chicken ...

Disadvantages: I have only seen 2 different varieties

...it. I spotted a Pepperoni Freschetta and upon further investigation of the product that was what I opted for. APPEARANCE 1 green cardboard box claiming that the pizza inside rises as it bakes, upon opening I find a sealed plastic casing containing a half cooked base smothered with cheese with a very generous amount of pepperoni slices strategically placed on top. DID IT RISE???? I popped it in the oven and patiently waited and when it was time ...
...OTHER INFORMATION I have bought Freschetta pizza`s a lot since the first one and I am totally delighted with the quality but there is of course one snag, I have only been able to get the pepperoni or the margherita variety and I am unsure if there are any others, I reckon a nice ham and pineapple one would go down a treat so I hope that they stock more in Tesco soon. I was paying about £1.99 per pizza before but I now buy the twin pack box for £2.98 ...

Advantages: Nice Sauce
Disadvantages: Bland Taste, Bit stingy with the toppings, Keeps its heat for far too long.

The adverts for this 'pizza' boast that it awakens the taste buds, showing people on rollercoasters or getting covered in water. This is to signify the 'reawakening' of the tastebuds, they don't however show a man swallowing a lump of coal and showering his family with boiling hot lava cheese and expletives that would make roger mellie blush. I have been intrigued by these for a while. firstly by the price (about three quid for a big one and two ...

There are eight and twelve inch varieties that come in the normal four cheese, pepperoni and apparently chicken, vegetable and a sausage ...

Freschetta Than Your Average

Advantages: Better Base Than Most
Disadvantages: Too many pepper slices

...included within the contents one freschetta pizza. Not being a fan of oven cooked pizzas with typically hardboard pizza bases and thinly spread sauces I was reluctant to give this new pizza the benefit of the doubt, with it only taking a modest 15-20 minutes to cook I was encouraged a few days later to give it a go, not exactly happy about it nonetheless. However I was pleasantly surprised by the Pepperoni Pizza in this range. Whilst still not exactly ...
...of thought is going into producing a better pizza base these days as not too long ago (and still on some) frozen pizza bases were nothing less than hard dough. These however have more of a bready and without searching for the pun “fresher” feel to them. Which is a pleasant change from the usual. The pepperoni is not particularly sparing in comparison to most pizzas, but not exactly piled high either. My main gripe with this pizza is the use of mini ...

Probably the best frozen pizza in the world

Advantages: Quicker than waiting for local delivery from the takeaway
Disadvantages: Not quite enough cheese

Freschetta pizzas have been a wonderful discovery for me! In the past I have often been disappointed by frozen pizzas. Many of them are burnt around the edges before the centre is cooked properly. Most of them have a tough crust. Some of them are too economical with the toppings. Freschetta pizzas do not have any of these problems! Cooking Freschetta pizzas is very easy. Most foods require the oven to be pre-heated before cooking, which can be a ...
...a bottle of wine. Freschetta pizzas are put straight into the oven without any pre-heating which cuts down on planning and preparation time. However, unlike some frozen pizzas, you do have to put it on a baking tray, so that means extra washing-up afterwards! The crust rises during cooking and does not seem to burn quickly or go tough like some other brands do. The toppings are absolutely gorgeous. Up to now I have tried the Supreme and Peperoni ...

Who needs Italy

Advantages: The oven does not need to be warmed up first, they have lots of cheese on, the tomatoe puree is quite tangy, the crust is not overfacing
Disadvantages: they are very 'more-ish', there are not many varieties

I first tried freschetta pizza about a year ago now, it was a complete accident as the store had run out of my normal brand. On getting the pizza home i was surprised to find that the oven did not need to be preheated this is a major bonus as it can be easily made on the spur of the moment and is pretty much ready as soon as you become hungry. It only takes 25 minutes to cook and is very easy to do and i find that time to be perfect, i have yet ...
...The crust rises in the oven and it is very light and crispy, perfect for dipping in sauces. The pizza comes in a really easy to open vacuum plastic pack with lips to open it, no scissors are required! The outer box has a whole in it so that you can see the product you are buying. To my knowledge there are three varieties, Meat feast, four cheeses and ham and mushroom. The toppings are very generous and the base melts in your mouth. My favourite ...
