After being stung for a camcorder which inevitably caused me an immense about of grief at home it was time to replace our dust gathering digital camera for a series of weddings, christenings and days out. Obviously the thought of spending more cash on a new camera filled me with dread, but after making a serious purchase based upon brand name and expecting quality, this time I took the time to obtain several different opinions utilising friends, family and of course Internet review/opinion websites. Personally I am not a technical person when it comes to computers, cameras or anything that ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value for money, high-quality photos, looks good, clear LCD screen, durable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

The F40fd is a great camera which is really easy to use, whilst taking high-quality photos. On top of its everyday ease of use, there are loads of features which you can take advantage of - if you like to try new things out, they can really enhance your photos, whilst allowing you to try something a bit different. The F40 is an 8.3 megapixel camera, which is plenty for every day use. Those wanting to blow photos up into really big images to be printed as posters/canvases etc may want more megapixels, but this really is adequate for normal use. I have printed many standard 5x7 photos which have ... more

Advantages Advantages small, compact, well priced

Disadvantages Disadvantages not as many manual settings

my boyfriend bought me this camera after i lost it's predecessor, the fuji film f30 on the tube one night. oops. i've always owned fuji - my first camera was a finepix f401, which was a cute square shape and took pretty decent photos - it even survived being dropped in a pint of beer! after that great start, the f30 was a nice step up with more manual options and a better range of picture choices. the f40d is much the same - it's slightly more geared up the to automatic market with a range of pre selected scene modes, from fireworks (which is the only mode to over long exposure shots, unlike ... more

Advantages Advantages Hardwearing, many settings, good picture quality, decent price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Getting surpassed by more modern cameras

This Fujifilm F40d digital camera is, in my opinion, a great choice of camera for any occassion. It is compact, light, looks great, has a large LCD screen, 8.3 megapixels and has face-detection technology. I used this camera for a three week holiday to South Africa and only had to charge it twice. It stood up to a full day of photo taking on safari, and with a good zoom function, was able to capture some great shots. Back home, it has been taken on many a night out and has always produced good photos from my point of view. It has also withstood the usual wear and tear well. With different ... more

    Advantages Advantages Different Photo options

Disadvantages Disadvantages Zooming in and out

This digital camera works very well in all kinds of surroundings and you can change the style of picture by the different options such as natural light, 2 photos at once as well as a movie option and a automatic option. This camera also has face detection which enables the camera to pick up faces and use this to improve the quality of the photo. The downfall of this camera is that the photos dont always look good with distance photos being a problem. But apart from that the camera is definately one i recommend as it has served its purpose for me so far. The thing i like best about it is the ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear pictures, short processing times, excellent camera

Disadvantages Disadvantages No case, auto-flash and auto-focus quite suspect

I received this camera as a christmas present, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it. I have never been particularly interested in photography, either digital or film, so was slightly skeptical. However, the product has really captured my imagination and I now love taking pictures. The camera is very easy to use for a novice, but also has plently of manual settings for those who need them, or are learning to use them like me. Pictures always of a very good quality, although the auto-flash and auto-focus are sometimes quite imposing. The face focus feature is fairly useful, and PC ... more

Advantages Advantages Lightweight, Small, Good Range of Settings, Good Picture Quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Zoom isn't fantastic

I have had this camera for a few months, overall i find it good value for what i want it for, i generally take pictures indoors in low light and this seems fine for that purpose. It had a handy face detection setting, automatic mode, several pre set options (sports, flower, fireworks, underwater etc) and a manual mode amongst other ones. It will take two photos together - one with flash and one without - and has a handy video mode. The flash seems decent and the quality of the pictures are good, although it will go up to ISO2000 these pictures are usually grainy. ISO 100,200 and 400 are ... more
