...my heart set on, the FujiFilm FinePix F40fd, was indeed a fine camera with a serious set of features, a price tag that didn't make me faint and looks that wouldn't have children below the age of 10 sniggering. This last comment is due to the fact that my old digital camera was twice the size of a regular 1990s SLR and was the source of much embarrassment to anyone I attempted to photograph on public.
We obtained our FujiFilm FinePix F40fd for £169 ... ...in existence due to their poor level of customer service, but if it is, they were the cheapest supplier and personally I had no problems with them, although they are notoriously hit and miss on this front.
Bearing in mind the size (think large coconut) of my previous digital camera I wasn't expecting my new camera to come in a box the size of my palm. In the box was the camera, the battery, a power cable, a USB cable and a think instruction booklet. ...

Advantages: Great value for money, high-quality photos, looks good, clear LCD screen, durable Disadvantages: None
...setting. Like the other Fujifilm cameras, the F40 is really durable, and built to last, unlike many of todays cameras. I have taken it on many nights out and holidays. Whilst many friends' cameras have not lasted long, I have now had mine some time and have had no problems at all. Even after having been dropped a few times (oops!) the only visible signs of damage are a couply of tiny scratches which are barely noticeable. The face detection feature ... ...The camera is sleek and a good size and weight. Whilst there are smaller cameras available on the market, this is definitely still a good size to carry around, and easily fits in pockets and handbags. The camera looks really good, and the large, high-quality LCD screen allows you to see the photos you have taken really clearly. It is really easily to select and delete any photos. An ISO sensitivity rating ranging up to 2000 ISO means that this camera ...

Advantages: small, compact, well priced Disadvantages: not as many manual settings
my boyfriend bought me this camera after i lost it's predecessor, the fuji film f30 on the tube one night. oops.
i've always owned fuji - my first camera was a finepix f401, which was a cute square shape and took pretty decent photos - it even survived being dropped in a pint of beer!
after that great start, the f30 was a nice step up with more manual options and a better range of picture choices. the f40d is much the same - it's slightly more ... ...pre selected scene modes, from fireworks (which is the only mode to over long exposure shots, unlike the f30 which had two) , underwater, party, portrait, landscape etc. the scene modes are actually pretty decent, and the general auto mode is great for quick snaps.
part way between a point and shoot and an slr, the manual settings offer a degree of extra usability, and the large screen is great for viewing photos. i would say this is great camera ...

Advantages: Hardwearing, many settings, good picture quality, decent price Disadvantages: Getting surpassed by more modern cameras
This Fujifilm F40d digital camera is, in my opinion, a great choice of camera for any occassion. It is compact, light, looks great, has a large LCD screen, 8.3 megapixels and has face-detection technology. I used this camera for a three week holiday to South Africa and only had to charge it twice. It stood up to a full day of photo taking on safari, and with a good zoom function, was able to capture some great shots. Back home, it has been taken ... ...photos from my point of view. It has also withstood the usual wear and tear well. With different settings that include portrait, landscape, sunset, fireworks, flower, snow, sport and night, it has always produced good quality photographs. All in all, I found it to be a great camera for my level of usage. It has been robust, but at the same time lightweight, all while producing some great every day and holiday snaps - an excellent point and shoot ...

Advantages: Different Photo options Disadvantages: Zooming in and out
This digital camera works very well in all kinds of surroundings and you can change the style of picture by the different options such as natural light, 2 photos at once as well as a movie option and a automatic option. This camera also has face detection which enables the camera to pick up faces and use this to improve the quality of the photo. The downfall of this camera is that the photos dont always look good with distance photos being a problem. ... ...recommend as it has served its purpose for me so far. The thing i like best about it is the fact that you can change the type of photo it takes like iIsaid earlier about the natural light option. I paid £155 for my camera from amazon, the battery life is approx. 6-8 hours, battery is rechargable and the internal memory holds 12 photos.
In my opinion this is a great camera and is very good value for money. ...

Advantages: Clear pictures, short processing times, excellent camera Disadvantages: No case, auto-flash and auto-focus quite suspect
I received this camera as a christmas present, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it. I have never been particularly interested in photography, either digital or film, so was slightly skeptical. However, the product has really captured my imagination and I now love taking pictures. The camera is very easy to use for a novice, but also has plently of manual settings for those who need them, or are learning to use them like me. Pictures always ...

Advantages: Lightweight, Small, Good Range of Settings, Good Picture Quality Disadvantages: Zoom isn't fantastic
I have had this camera for a few months, overall i find it good value for what i want it for, i generally take pictures indoors in low light and this seems fine for that purpose. It had a handy face detection setting, automatic mode, several pre set options (sports, flower, fireworks, underwater etc) and a manual mode amongst other ones. It will take two photos together - one with flash and one without - and has a handy video mode. The flash seems ... ...it will go up to ISO2000 these pictures are usually grainy. ISO 100,200 and 400 are usually very crisp in comparison. The down side is the zoom, its not very good and i try not to use it if possible. The LCD is clear and large and there is no optical viewfinder. The camera is very easy to use and charge, but you definitely will need extra memory.
For a cheap, good quality point and shoot camera it performs well, i would recommend this to all non ...
