Fujifilm FinePix S1500, a bridge between a compact and a DSLR

AdvantagesNice design, easy to use and good feel. Plenty of features. Good quality pictures.

DisadvantagesBulky. Eats through batteries. Not good on high zoom.

"...buying, I got in quick. The Fujifilm FinePix S1500 is a bridge camera, fitting between the more basic compact cameras and proper Digital SLRs. Size wise it is much closer to the latter, in fact the only real difference between it and a compact DSLR is that it does not have an interchangeable lens. The 12x optical zoom provided though is more than enough for most purposes, and itself is difficult to use when hand held under all but the best light ..." Read review

Great Bridge Camera...

AdvantagesWhy pay more if you don't mind not having the latest model?

DisadvantagesNoisy zoom on video.

"The Fuji FinePix S1500 is not the latest model of the FinePix range of bridge cameras, but having been toying with the idea of getting something that offered a bit more than point and shoot, and not wanting to pay over £200 for it, I decided on this model after reading many good reviews from buyers on Amazon. There were many second-hand offers on Amazon, but I preferred the peace of mind of a brand new one, and picked it up for just under £180. ..." Read review

Fuji FinePix S1500. Descendant of the S1000fd

AdvantagesHuge zoom, Focus Tracking, Easy to use

DisadvantagesBulky, A little slow, AA batteries are a bit inconvenient

"The Fuji FinePix S1500 is the latest incarnation of the very successful FinePix S1000fd. It is very SLR-like in appearance and the added bulk of the battery-holder/grip does give it an assured feeling in your hands. Of course, this can be a disadvantage, and if you want a camera that you can just slip in-and-out of your pocket, then maybe a slimmer compact should be considered. The 12x optical zoom is excellent and it equates to 33-396mm in 35mm ..." Read review

Fantastic value, great camera for serious amateurs

AdvantagesGreat zoom, lovely style, easy to use, great quality pictures

DisadvantagesDoesn't come with rechargeable battery

"I bought this camera a couple of months ago and I am extremely pleased with it. It has a 12x optical zoom which is fantastic. (I did alot of research when I bought this camera and the biggest optical zoom I could find for a similar price was 4x.) I love taking pictures of wildlife and it has been great for that as the colours are also really lovely. I have also taken quite a few action shots of flying birds etc and they have come out very well. The ..." Read review

A Great Beginner's Camera

Advantageseasy to use, light weight, and very functional

Disadvantageslow zoom level, no other attachments

"I was got this camera when I was first starting my photography attraction, and found that it worked absolutely great for my armature needs and photography skills. If you are looking for a great starting camera but if you are already a skilled and experienced photographer then I would not recommend this camera. The zoom qualities on this camera are very limited at 10x optical zoom which means you'll only be able to shoot pictures of objects from about ..." Read review

Surprising little gadget

AdvantagesExcellent optical zoom

DisadvantagesNot compact

"After deep consideration, I finally decided to purchase this camera after months of searching for a device with good MP and decent zoom. As a person new to photopgraphy, I found this camera very easy to handle and work. I recently took it on a class trip to Paris and found very little faults. There is obviously the problem with size. It looks like a large camera from the picture but is actually only the size of your hand and is obviously light for ..." Read review

Fulifilm Finepix S1500fd

Advantagesfunctionality

Disadvantagesaccess to memory slot, Flash

"I've had this camera for almost a year and all photo's I have taken really have been good quality. It is a good camera for begginers as you can leave settings as they are of you can adjust things like shutter speed and iso ect. for the more advanced users. The options to shoot in high speed mode at a lower mega pix is a useful tool for sports shots. The video quality is quite low but then again this is a camera not a video camera. The red eye ..." Excellent Picture quality but Video not as good

Advantages10 MP camera

DisadvantagesNo Changeable Lenses

"This camera in my Opinion is one of the best Pre - DSLR cameras I have ever used. The image quality on this camera really is amazing. It is so easy to use and can be easily operated without any Pre-Photographic Knowledge . The camera has an Auto Focusing lens which means your not messing about with the Cameras lens to make it focus on things. My favorite feature off the camera is the 10MP Stills camera as it gives you great quality images which are ..." Read review

Amazing Fujifilm FinePix S1500 Review with images

AdvantagesEverything else!

DisadvantagesBattery life, Slow focus and lense cover. But i'm being picky

"I got the Fijifilm Finepix S1500 for my birthday after a friend recomended it to me. She is a very good photographer and wants to become professional. I would personally suggest this would be for someone who wants to aspire to be a photographer and would like to take advanced photos without them having to be completely professional. I also think that is a good camera for people who want to learn and improve their photography skills. I love this camera ..." Read review

A nice little neat camera!

AdvantagesEasy to use, Auto Focus

DisadvantagesLacks Advanced Controls

"This was my first bridge Camera which I bought as I wanted to step up from the original Point-and-shoot up to a bigger camera. I got it out off Tesco for £149.99 which was pretty cheap as when I got home I checked up and amazon and other big retailers were selling it for alot more. At the time I had no previous knowledge off Bridge/DSLR Cameras so i didn't exactly know what to do with this camera. So bearing in mind I didn't exactly know what to ..." Read review
