Advantages Advantages Nice design, easy to use and good feel. Plenty of features. Good quality pictures.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bulky. Eats through batteries. Not good on high zoom.

I bought this camera about a year ago to replace an elderly 2MP camera. Being a student I was on a budget, so did not want to spend too much, yet I do like photography and wished for something a little more than basic. I am also a transport enthusiast, so wished for a camera that could take good shots at night and with a decent zoom. After some shopping around I came across this camera on Amazon where it was almost £100 off. Although not normally one for impulse buying, I got in quick. The Fujifilm FinePix S1500 is a bridge camera, fitting between the more basic compact cameras and proper ... more

Advantages Advantages Why pay more if you don't mind not having the latest model?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy zoom on video.

The Fuji FinePix S1500 is not the latest model of the FinePix range of bridge cameras, but having been toying with the idea of getting something that offered a bit more than point and shoot, and not wanting to pay over £200 for it, I decided on this model after reading many good reviews from buyers on Amazon. There were many second-hand offers on Amazon, but I preferred the peace of mind of a brand new one, and picked it up for just under £180. This model is currently being offered on Amazon for £175. I received my camera two days after ordering it. The camera has a 12X optical zoom that I ... more

Advantages Advantages Huge zoom, Focus Tracking, Easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bulky, A little slow, AA batteries are a bit inconvenient

The Fuji FinePix S1500 is the latest incarnation of the very successful FinePix S1000fd. It is very SLR-like in appearance and the added bulk of the battery-holder/grip does give it an assured feeling in your hands. Of course, this can be a disadvantage, and if you want a camera that you can just slip in-and-out of your pocket, then maybe a slimmer compact should be considered. The 12x optical zoom is excellent and it equates to 33-396mm in 35mm terms - and if this isn't enough, there is a 5.7x digital zoom feature too. The menus are friendly and easy to navigate, and there are helpful ... more

Advantages Advantages Great zoom, lovely style, easy to use, great quality pictures

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't come with rechargeable battery

I bought this camera a couple of months ago and I am extremely pleased with it. It has a 12x optical zoom which is fantastic. (I did alot of research when I bought this camera and the biggest optical zoom I could find for a similar price was 4x.) I love taking pictures of wildlife and it has been great for that as the colours are also really lovely. I have also taken quite a few action shots of flying birds etc and they have come out very well. The quality of the pictures is flawless and good enough for any serious amateur. At 10MP, unless you are going to blow them up to the size of your ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to use, light weight, and very functional

Disadvantages Disadvantages low zoom level, no other attachments

I was got this camera when I was first starting my photography attraction, and found that it worked absolutely great for my armature needs and photography skills. If you are looking for a great starting camera but if you are already a skilled and experienced photographer then I would not recommend this camera. The zoom qualities on this camera are very limited at 10x optical zoom which means you'll only be able to shoot pictures of objects from about 50 feet away or so, but you can always do what I did which is buy a 2x magnification wide-angled extension which screws right onto the included ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent optical zoom

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not compact

After deep consideration, I finally decided to purchase this camera after months of searching for a device with good MP and decent zoom. As a person new to photopgraphy, I found this camera very easy to handle and work. I recently took it on a class trip to Paris and found very little faults. There is obviously the problem with size. It looks like a large camera from the picture but is actually only the size of your hand and is obviously light for it's size. The picture quality is beautiful with most images turning out clear, bar the occasional photo which is blurred, but there is a setting ... more

    Advantages Advantages functionality

Disadvantages Disadvantages access to memory slot, Flash

I've had this camera for almost a year and all photo's I have taken really have been good quality. It is a good camera for begginers as you can leave settings as they are of you can adjust things like shutter speed and iso ect. for the more advanced users. The options to shoot in high speed mode at a lower mega pix is a useful tool for sports shots. The video quality is quite low but then again this is a camera not a video camera. The red eye removal has never failed and the flash is not brilliant in complete darkness. The 18x optical zoom works a treat but when it starts to use the digital it ... more

    Advantages Advantages 10 MP camera

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No Changeable Lenses

This camera in my Opinion is one of the best Pre - DSLR cameras I have ever used. The image quality on this camera really is amazing. It is so easy to use and can be easily operated without any Pre-Photographic Knowledge . The camera has an Auto Focusing lens which means your not messing about with the Cameras lens to make it focus on things. My favorite feature off the camera is the 10MP Stills camera as it gives you great quality images which are very sharp. The cool thing also about this camera is the fact that you don't need to splash out 3 or 4 Hundered pounds on a Big DSLR camera when ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everything else!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life, Slow focus and lense cover. But i'm being picky

I got the Fijifilm Finepix S1500 for my birthday after a friend recomended it to me. She is a very good photographer and wants to become professional. I would personally suggest this would be for someone who wants to aspire to be a photographer and would like to take advanced photos without them having to be completely professional. I also think that is a good camera for people who want to learn and improve their photography skills. I love this camera because it's really easy and simple to use and produced wonderful quality photogaphs. The only downsides are it eats up battery life very fast ... more
